I have a love/hate relationship with the baby names board. I love seeing people's name ideas/suggestions, and I vote on all the polls. But I feel like the vocal majority over there has such a rigid naming style and anything outside their pre-approved name selection is deemed outrageous and klassy.
I posted weeks ago about the name Kate. I guess I was asking for it, but I was just wondering what people think of it as a standalone name. Most of the responses were unfavorable. A lot of people said, "She's not going to be a little girl forever. She needs a respectable name to put on a resume." I think that's such a lame excuse. By the time this baby is old enough to be filling out job applications, there are going to be so many Bexleighs and Apples and Mylyk'las that Kate is not going to raise any eyebrows.
All that's to say, I've moved on from the name Kate anyway. Haha. Rant over. (And I realize this will probably get xp'd to the BN board and I'll be mocked and branded as a whiner forever.)

@mrspepper05 maybe I'm just an old fashioned, simple name appreciator but I like Kate. I'm not seeing at all where there's a problem. I read those boards but wouldn't post my name idea simply because 1. If my husband and I like it that's all that matters and 2. I don't want someone taking it lmao.

Here's mine- with all of my pregnancies I've only used one pregnancy test per baby. I've never fully understood why more than one test is needed if it was positive the first time. I can see going from negative to positive but I don't understand taking 3 and them all being positive then running out and buying 3 more to continue testing. Plus the good ones are expensive and I'd rather buy a burger or some tacos with that cash lol.

ITA ^ Kate is classic, and I know lots of classy adult Kates. I don't think of it as a little girl name; I think of it as a name that is perfect for a little girl *and* an adult. Some names sound more "little" to me, and others sound more "grown-up" to me, but Kate is one that I always thought transitioned well. Also, do people really XP this stuff across boards?!

I curse people under my breath who see me struggle bussing at places like grocery stores or department stores and don't offer to help ... Like if I have my hands full and I am wrangling a toddler offer to hold the freaking door , don't just stand there . I am more than capable of doing it myself but sometimes the offer is nice .

Here's my confession: I think I'm going to quit my job before I "need" to but I'm just going to tell them and my husband I can't do it anymore. I'm a nanny and they seem to forget I have my own life especially now that mom is traveling so often. They have a 5yo who started kindergarten this year and is an absolute terror. He got kicked out of his pre k and had to stay home with me. They just don't do anything about it. He's in trouble every day and he comes home with discipline notes from school and they basically say no no that's bad to him. ANYWAY it stresses me out and I want to be done yesterday.
@mrspepper05 hmmm I guess they assume Kate Spade would be more successful if she didn't go by Kate? That's absurd. Kate is a perfectly acceptable "grown up" name.
@Smom901316 that drives me nuts! I recently lost it as I was trying to hold the door open for an elderly man with a walker. The wind was trying to blow the door shut as I held a baby in my arms (baby sitting for a friend). I was clearly struggling to keep it open and stand upright myself. A full grown adult man is standing behind me watching this, he lets the elderly man go by and then pushes past me while I'm STILL struggling to hold the door and says "thanks." I lost it. Let the wind slam the door on his heels as he was walking...Grrr...
@mrspepper05 Maybe it's because I've known a couple that have made this transition, but I always thought that 'Kate' was the adult version of 'Katie.' Not to say that little girls can't be Kate, but I have never thought of Kate as JUST a little girls name. Kind of like a boy going form Robby to Rob as an adult. Obviously it's no big deal since you've moved on but I love the name Kate - even as a stand alone name!
My FFFC is I am milking this not feeling well thing for all that it is worth at home with DH. Yes, I do feel like crap still but not QUITE as bad as maybe I am playing up. Sorry, I don't want to spend my evenings doing some sh*t you could have done all day since you're laid off after working 8 hours and commuting an hour home.
Oh! I got so irritated thinking about that guy I forgot my fffc!
Ok... Here goes... I don't really HATE football. I just pretend to and refuse to learn it in detail or show any interest because I don't want to encourage DH to spend all day Sunday glued to a screen.
People that don't vaccinate because they are convinced it is "bad" are just dumb to me. Unless you have a PhD in immunology or an MD with clinical research in immunology you will never provide me with any valid "proof" that vaccines have a detrimental effect on children (I will recognise that not all are completely effective). Also unless the website or your sisters, brother's friend has been indexed by PubMed in some way it is not a valid scientific source of information. (If you don't know what that last bit is then maybe you shouldn't be permitted to make judgement on vaccines either).

@mrspepper05, I think Kate is a beautiful name. Haters gonna hate!
@Kynbar5 I had BFNs for so long and the amazement at seeing the second line is something that still thrills me to think about. Plus I had a stash so I kept taking them. I actually took one a few days ago, not to see if it was BFP obviously, but because I found it in a drawer and I still get excited when I see it. It's a little dumb I know, but it still amazes me! But now, I'm done!
Here's mine, and it's not targeted at @soxfan9968 , you just made me think of it. *cough* SIL *cough* I hate it when people talk about how much they hate football season. I don't post memes on Facebook about how much I don't care about your hobbies, or how lame I think the Voice is. Let me enjoy my Sunday in peace thank you.

My reply to this again is infertility For my 2 miscarriages I caught light positives then they went back to negatives by time I got to the dr for a confirmation. I've probably spent about $500 on pregnancy tests, and another on ovulation tests. if your hpt gets darker you know its a sticky baby and if it gets lighter chances are you aren't producing the HCG like you should and will end up with a m/c.
For this baby I just took one and the test line showed up before the control line, and the test line was actually darker too! I had never even peed positive for DD!

I second the infertility but I'm not as bad as some women. With my two boys, I think I only used a few tests each - after a year each of trying it's just that "I can't believe it!" This one I only used one test.

i had a mc before this baby, and watching the positive test lines get less and less dark as my hcg dropped kind of helped me accept it, and also helped me know when it was possible to get preggo again. then with this pregnancy, i took more (16!) because seeing that line get darker every day was the best. and then seeing the digital tests (i took two of those) change from 1-2w on the first one to 3+ on the second one was the best feeling ever!

Here's another one- I will not have the vaccine debate. We all have our own beliefs in that area. I believe what I believe and do what I think is best for my children and would never wag my finger for someone doing the same. If you vaccinate you vaccinate, if you don't you don't. I don't get told what to do with my children and I don't tell others what to do with theirs. It's like any religion debate, nope, I'm out.

Circumcision cracks me up... I live in a country that is 99% not circumcised and its not like dicks are falling off left and right because they are diseased... I also wonder how many women who are so involved in this debate have actually seen an uncircumcised one up close and "personal"

I must confess I agree that vaccine debates make me uncomfortable also. I wouldn't like one to begin here because I think it could get ugly and I don't think it will sway anyone's opinion either way. Suffice to say I will (barring any medical issues) vaccinate my children without fail and I'd feel uncomfortable having them around unvaccinated people.
Also, anyone find that this week has flown by? I think it's been so fast, compared to the 4 day week last week. TFIF!!!!!!!!
@ecwk I feel like all of my days are crawling but that the weeks are flying - is that even possible lol??
Totally possible, I know what you mean! Counting down the hours but the days a flying by....I thought it would be the opposite. I have an appt on Tuesday and I thought time would be dragging. I just can't wait!
@ecwk I feel like all of my days are crawling but that the weeks are flying - is that even possible lol??
Yesss! I say this all the time to my husband. I complain all week about how long the day is going, then when my ticker changes, I flip out about how far along I've gotten without realizing.
I absolutely ADORE my MIL. She has to be the nicest, sweetest, most sincere person I have ever met. I love hanging out with her (and my FIL too). My friends all thought I was just weird until they met her, and they all love her too. Both my FIL and MIL have been "accepted into" my circle of friends...lol. I think they might actually get invited to our "group" events before DH and I, LOL.
I'm totally with you girls on the MIL thing, I loved mine so much! She wanted a grandbaby so badly, and my mom wanted us to have kids so much too, but unfortunately we lost both of them before granting them their wishes. MIL passed away 5 years ago, and we lost my mom 3 years ago, then got BFP 6 months later. We know they would've adored DD soooo much, and now with baby #2 on the way, *sigh*. I know they're smiling down upon us though. O:-)
My FFFC is...I'm *hoping* for a girl, I just think it'd be a amazing for DD to have a baby sis! I'll be happy either way of course, but leaning towards team pink!
