Trying to Get Pregnant

The cervix secrets

Ok so I've done my best to lurk and Google my little heart out but I feel like theirs soo many conflicting reports of what your cervix placement and firmness says about your status in TTC. Open, closed? High, mushy, "pursed lips"? I feel like every link I click on tells me something new.
I'm currently 5dpo and experiencing the "school glue" cm with a high, soft, closed cervix.
Before the hounds get all over me, I am NOT asking if I am pregnant. I am aware that the only thing that can confirm that is a test.... Just trying to gain some insight from the experts on what I should be looking for or tracking when it comes to cervical placement. Thank you in advance for your input and please no put downs, I've had a rough few months and seem to be "snappy" lately lol

  • Once I have confirmed ovulation through temping I no longer check CP. From what I read you really can't use CP as any kind of indication to pregnancy
  • I just strongly believe that if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. For some, saying 5 negative things is easier than saying 1 positive. I find this forum a great resource for learning more and more about my TTC puzzle so I turn to it if I'm met with an obstacle or something I can't quite get my head around.
And until the strangers in this forum force their way out of my vagina and change my life forever, their snarkiness isn't something I HAVE to tolerate.

You're right!  You can always leave if you don't like the responses you get.

It would be a shame since I do value the information on this board, I however do not value someone relating my rough few months with my ability to be a parent. That isn't a feeling I wish on anyone. I am aware that I can't force people to play nice but seeing as this is a board that's meant to offer support regardless of their stage in trying to conceive, it's a little shocking to see so many people quick to shun me away.
  • We all have our own struggles, so you are not alone when you say you've had a rough time recently. Cervical position can be tricky as it fluctuates over the course of each day. I don't know if you've read the TTGP Guide at the top of the board, but I posted links to 3 different sites/threads that should help you.

If you are having a hard time discerning the differences in your cervical mucus and cervical position, you are not alone. Here are a few threads that should help you figure it out:

Thank you so much, these links were helpful. It's hard to sift through all the sights and find factual information sometimes when googling solo. I'm def not using CP as a primary source of confirming a positive pregnancy but it's nice to know what it actually is that I'm feeling and what's going on down there hah! Again thank you for your inpu! t

huh?  I seriously have no idea what half of this means...  By asking a question as personal as CP, you've kind of invited us into your vagina... Also it took me all of 3 seconds to google the answer to you question.

*there's as in there is or more appropriate there ARE so many conflicting repirts...

  • If it feels like the tip of a penis/nose = Firm
    Pursed lips = Medium
Relaxed lips, or almost blends in with the vaginal wall = Soft

For me....(you'll have to come up with your own reference points)
If I had to insert my entire finger to reach it = High
If it was at my middle knuckle = Medium
If it was anywhere below the knuckle = Low

Also, check your cervix in the same position each and every time. I would also pick a time of day and stick to that time because sometimes the position can fluctuate at different times of the day.

Honestly you can use any definitions you want in terms of describing CP. It's really all relative to you anyways. The most important thing is to notice the changes from day to day.

Thank you! I never really picked up on the Cervical changes when TTC until a couple days ago I stumbled upon something (while lurking) that said you can feel the changes. So I got curious and when I went for the feel my initial response was "WHOA, THAT NOT MINE" Haha! It has NEVER felt like that before, I was shocked so I got to the research. I didn't feel like I got a full understanding on why it was soo different so I knew the ladies on here would know of some helpful (or reputable) links for me to plant my feet on.

In all seriousness and without snark or ill-intention, please consider changing your SN, OP.  You are really easy to find on Pinterest and thus fb if I had ill-intentions.  We may be a light-hearted, snarky community, but we are also concerned about everyone's internet safety.
ETA: if you do change it, I will go through where I've tagged/quoted you and edit the old one out.

I am unsure where the threat lies here? So my SN takes you from a social board to a social networking site? Nothing on the Internet is safe so I'm unsure how knowing what kind of crafts I've pinned will bring me harm. Also unsure how this is relevant to the topic I posted about.

Listen, I'm not sure why you have to be so resistant to any & all advice given to you here. You say you want advice/help/info, but when folks try to give it to you then you get upset & hair flip.

@Litterateur was giving you solid advice & you just shut her down. That's not terribly respectful or positive contribution to our community. :-??

It's relevant Because I've seen folks go crazy on these boards contacting spouses, jobs. It's frighteningly easy to find a lot of info even if it's just crafts. You can find other friends that will eventually lead to your FB etc. if you acquire someone that dislikes you enough to go to the deuce over finding you. It can be a real problem.
Again, still not relevant to my original post. I am interested in seeking advice in TTC, and anything related to that would be a positive contribution to this community considering this is not a general forum, it's a TTC forum. When I seek advice on Internet safety, I'm sure she will be there for me.

I'm pretty sure @Litterateur was just trying to be nice and make sure your aware that your fb can easily be found as well as personal information such as where you live can also be seen. No need to be nasty when she was just trying to make sure your aware.

Yes I bet she was, and in her efforts to be nice and make me aware, she also publicly announced that everyone can go find me on Facebook. Pardon if I feel that her concern could have been welcomed better in a private message...
  • @sunnysideup7300 I think it's time to take a step back and take some calming breaths. I can tell you are getting riled up that is not anyone's intention. I'm honestly saying this for you own benefit. Don't let this get under your skin and ruin you day. We are only trying to help I promise.
