So DH just did a phone interview for an internal training job. He found out it's 25% travel. In my mind I'm freaking out about this going from 2-3 kids. And I work full time. But I'm excited for his opportunity.
What the crap is going on on some of those threads? I swear some people just come to stir up drama.
Finally forced myself to eat Chinese because I had to eat something. I'm finding that I'm just not as hungry second trimester as I was first. Which is weird to me. Other pregnancies it's like I can't get enough.
And congrats to me I just sneezed without peeing. Inside I'm doing a happy dance.

Oh- I'm in a pickle now and I know I'm going to hear it from my mother. I just posted in the gear thread- my crib that I've been saving all this time has apparently been recalled because babies actually DIED from the dropsides disengaging and falling down, trapping them- it was part of the big 1.6 million Delta recall in 2008 but of course I didn't know about it because I wasn't using the crib. I had full intentions of just immobilizing the dropsides, until I found this out. This crib has set for so long in storage, the wood has become weather warped/cracked, the pressboard bottom has gotten all mildewy, and we were just going to get a new sheet of pressboard to cut a new bottom, and immobilize the dropsides. But now I'm not so sure if its even worth all that work.
My mother already threw a fit when I said something about the drop sides- "your first child was safe in it but now because some big-wigs decide the dropsides are no longer safe that you need to fix it!? Its not law- no one is going to come and arrest you for using a drop-side crib" blah blah blah. Sorry that I'm concerned about the safety of my baby. Now to find out that the crib was RECALLED because babies DIED in my exact model, from the DROP SIDES, my mother is going to go nuts on me again. I sent her a link to the articles about the recall. Its not like I can just reorder parts for my crib anymore- they don't make it and this recall was 7 years ago. I know what her words are going to be (her favorite phrase)- "boo f*ckem whoo".
I don't know how I feel about trying to modify the crib now. And no matter what my mother is going to crab and get on my case. Do I buy new or fix my old? Is it even worth trying to?
If you remember the manufacturer call them and they should still have recall vouchers for people to get a new crib with my first my crib was 4 years old and recalled before I had my second son and the manufacturer worked with babies r us and gave us the voucher for our new crib. I would check this avenue first but if not I say new crib all the way.
My sister had that crib for her first son and she just had a little girl last year and she got a voucher for a new crib I say call the manufacturer or go to their website and see if you can get a free crib out of it. Good luck and don't listen to your mom your baby's safety comes first.

I don't see the big deal about weight gain......other than the annoying phase of "too big for regular clothes, and too small for maternity clothes" stage, I don't see much to complain about.
GOOD NEWS!!! My Makenna (progesterone) injection I start getting next week is COVERED BY MY INSURANCE!!! I'm telling you switching jobs is the best thing I have ever done! My old insurance most certainly would not have covered it, and I would've been playing fetus roulette, not being able to afford a shot to keep my baby growing. I bring home a bit less per paycheck, but it's totally worth it!

Well that was...interesting. I have to say I'm disappointed it is such an apparent bone of contention. I would have thought that the notion of weight gain in pregnancy is in fact a non-issue for the most part. I really feel for those mommas who have lost weight and are so worried and unhappy about it. I wish there was some way I could give them all the extra weight I've surely gained in the last few weeks (in no small part due to two good friends of mine named Ben and Jerry.) I just feel that as long as I'm not eating terribly unhealthy all of the time and working out as I can, then I'm doing fine. I'm sure it must suck for someone who had an amazing figure before they got pregnant much more than it sucks for me but then again, what does one expect when one gets KTFU? I'm not worried about gaining weight, just about gaining too much and having to lose it. P.S whoever posted that chocolate chip cookie gif, damn you!!!

There is a theory going around but I have been behaving myself so I can't post it here... though it would be safe as it seems only controversial zombie threads are under threat

No, I have never done it but this is clearly a thing that needs to happen in my life asap.
You all are so happy today and talking about yummy foods and stuff, and I'm over here catching up on this thread and exhausted from a *pretty great* weekend that zapped all of my energy! Didn't help that we were out in 100 degree heat on Saturday #:-S so I thought I'd pop in and say Hello! :-h
Feel free to throw imaginary vegetables at my head. It's kind of amazing. I even made a lot of rescue calls (listening to frantic fosters, talking to long winded vets, ya know) and HAD A SNACK! It was incredible to be able to eat something after 4pm and not feel like dying. I had two string cheese sticks and hummus. Even LO got to try the hummus, and he loved it. He thought it was so tasty, he shoved his cracker and his entire little chubby fist in and smacked on it all around the house.
Now that my parents have left again I'm catching up; wish they could have stayed longer! @bntfroggie congrats! Hope they're doing well! @charley15 love the hat! Yellow is my favorite color! Also, def a new crib, whether Delta gives you a voucher or you just buy it. Who GAF what your mom has to say about it? You're not asking her to buy a new one. (My mom is the same way (without the swear words haha) about stuff like that (car seats expiring for example, is just a conspiracy to get your cash)). @skruhmin is right - ikea or craigslist FTW! @2goofykids my youngest is still called Stormy by half my friends - Stormageddon was is in utero nickname Hope your appt was awesome! @kitteh81 you can totally use a non drop side crib and side-car it to the bed for cosleeping; you just take that side off – works like a dream! Now I need ice cream. I already ate a bunch of cookies today. And do I even want to read the weight gain thread? I'm already like 10lbs up and it's stressing me out LOL (have had some weight issues). Bc all I want is carbzzzzzz. And sleep.

YAY GOOD NEWS! Baby is strong and healthy! HB was 162, baby was measuring just a little ahead of schedule and all looks great! We're going to be doing blood tests and ultrasounds every month to keep an eye on LO's possibility of phyloric stenosis (genetic from DH) but the doctor is confident that everything looks just wonderful! Couldn't be happier with our visit today!
@2goofykids yay! So happy for you!! Looks like there's a lot of great changes on the horizon for you. Healthy baby and moving closer to DH family. Congrats!!
