Gaining too much weight...?

Re: Gaining too much weight...?

  • I'm 17 weeks tomorrow and I am up 13 lbs. Don't know how that is possible but it is true. I don't look pregnant. My husband tells me that I don't even look pregnant. I have been a strict exercise fanatic all my life pre pregnancy. I'm expected to gain the healthy 25 to 35 lbs. I'm being more realistic to 35 lbs. I'm not worried about it bc my doctor says that I am ok. I just want to be comfortable and not all swollen by the end!

Same here! I'm up 13 lbs and I'll be 17 weeks tomorrow. I personally need to exercise more and go back to healthier foods.

I just listened to the 17 week video... 5 to 10 lbs is normal weight gain by now for some ladies... So that made me feel a little better. :)
  • I started at 182 and gained 5 lbs by week 16. Doc is happy w/that. But he really thinks the most important thing is to not skip meals, eat healthy and exercise.
  • So in my first pregnancy, my OB would belittle me so badly for my weight gain. I felt so bad. I knew it was mostly bloat and swelling, and cut back almost completely to a GD diet (even though I didn't have it) and she'd still say things like, "Watch the carbs, and I don't mean on your fork on the way to your mouth!"
    :(

That being said, I gained 36 lbs, lost it in the first three months (I swear it was just breastfeeding and no longer being pregnant). This time, I started at a lower weight, but my OB still hasn't said one word on my weight gain and I started technically obese according to BMI charts.

I say that to tell you: don't stress yourself out. Make healthy choices, but don't complete deprive yourself unless your doctor specifically tells you otherwise for health reasons.

Yes, I was the same way. I was sick on an empty stomach and carbs were all that helped. Plus the fatigue basically killed my exercise routine. I gained 7 lbs in the first tri. Doc said not to worry yet and my goal is to keep it under 35 total.

I'm 17 weeks now but my entire first trimester and into my second, if I didn't eat more carbs I would throw up. As well as being tired and I couldn't be out in the summer heat for barely any time without getting incredibly sick so my workout routine went to shame. I've gained about 9 or 10 pounds and my midwife told me a couple days ago that it was too much too soon. So now I've been worried about it. It's getting better though so I'm focusing on not eating so many carbs and seeing how lean meats, fruits and veggies treat me. As long as we're making healthier choices all should be good. @molliejmcguire you are 12 weeks and due in February? My best friend is 12 weeks and she is due March 6th.

OP posted this over 2 weeks ago, so she is now 14 weeks+...

Started my 15 week today. At first I was 104lbs and now I am up to 116lbs. I had no food aversions and morning sickness. I ate almost everything in sight. Now I hardly have an appetite. Is that normal?
  • I am 15 weeks pregnant and have gained about 10 lbs so far. I was diagnosed with PUPPPS at 8 weeks, and have been on prednisone for the last 3 weeks. I will most likely be on it the rest of the pregnancy to keep the rash away. usual weight gain for a woman of my build would be about 30 lbs she said, but because of the prednisone i will probably gain closer to 50+ lbs :(
  • I'm 17 weeks with twins and already up 10 pounds. My doctor said to gain around 35-45 pounds (I had a small figure pre pregnancy) I've had to ditch my double zero jeans for some less than flattering maternity wear
