2nd Timers/Moms with tots at home?

Hello! Anyone else out there pregnant for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th time? It's a whole different beast being pregnant and having a toddler. I know people do it all the time but GEESH this is tricky! I'd love to start a thread(or FB group if we want) for support/idea sharing/encouragement. Any takers??

Re: 2nd Timers/Moms with tots at home?

  • If you look back a page or two there are a few threads very similar to this (one of them is for moms that will have two kids under two). I would start there. I would be happy to participate in a thread here on the bump, just not on Facebook.

  • Thanks! @kmalls - I did a quick search but couldn't find anything. I'll go look now. :)

  • No problem, they can be hard to find! And that reminds me I should bump the 2u2 thread.
  • I feel for those with little ones. Mine is almost 8 and while we have 3rd grade homework, gymnastics, and soccer, when I'm not feeling well she can entertain herself and understands. I'm grateful for that!
  • I do see there is a FB group being started. I'm hoping for one for 2nd timers/toddler moms specifically - not to exclude anyone, I just feel like the first time moms would get annoyed with some of the "potty training".....2 year old tantrum talk that would be happen.

@cortney626 thanks...it's proving to be a challenge already!

I'm not a fan of a FB group this early, but a weekly check-in thread for pregnant moms of toddler (s) would be great.

    Agreed!

  • I would also love a weekly check-in!

  • I'm in this boat - son is 15 months - so much fun but so much energy when I have none!
  • My DS is 3 and I have two step sons every two weeks. My DH works long hours so I have them too by myself a lot of the time. I'm exhausted! Football practice, church, school, cooking dinner every night and prepping my husband meals. I really wish I could drink an energy drink or pre workout!! Lol
  • Love the weekly check in thread idea!! DS is 3 and started preschool today so my pregnant emotions were all out of control!!
  • Count me in! I have a 5 3 and 21mo old! 4th time around yikes!
  • Weekly check in would be great. My DD will be two in October, and she is just a ball of energy.

  • I have a daughter who will be 3 November 30. I remember my pregnancy with her being all about me and my pregnancy. Soooooo not the case this time!

I feel the same. If you find one or start one let me know. I have a 23 month old at home. And I get tired a lot after work.
  • Count me in. I have 2yr old DD and I am just way too exhausted these days.
  • Count me in! I have an 18 month old DD and this pregnancy is COMPLETELY different than my first! I would love to check in with other mommas.
  • I have a 4 year old. I'm trying not to throw up and he's trying to drag me out the door to go to the park. This is going to be tricky. I like the idea of a weekly check in.

  • Awesome! Its comforting to see some other exhausted 2nd (3rd,4th,5th) time mamas out there. How should this work? Monday check-ins?  Example: Moms with tots - Weekly Check-in!  I can come up with some GTKY type questions along with the How-ya-doin type questions. Feel free for someone else to start the Check-in if I'm not doing it early enough (west coast time).

  • Second time mom here, my son turns 2 on the 20th! This pregnancy is so different than my first one. I have insomnia then I'm tired all day. Luckily my son has been easy on me lately. I find that we watch a lot of movies, read books or he has independent play more. Hoping that I get the energy burst with second trimester like I did with him.
  • I've got two 4 year olds and a 2 year old. Seventh pregnancy. I'm exhausted! My older 4 year old (he'll be 5 in October) is in half day preschool, so that helps some. But I feel like I am not fun exciting Mommy right now.

  • I have a 2 year old and 4 year old and I'm kind of freaked out by having another one. Despite that, I'm SO excited for a new baby!
  • Happy birthday to your little guy @laurenmdrn16! My son is 2 on Sunday and I am nervous about how the dynamics will change but I am more excited than anything. The thing that worries me the most is those first weeks. Sleep deprivation with a toddler is going to be interesting.
  • @laurenmdrn16 Happy birthday to you're little guy!

  • I have an almost 17 month old son. It's actually funny, my DS was due May 2, 2014 but he ended up coming a few days early. He was born April 26th. This one is due May 11th, and if he/she comes early like my first, their birthdays are going to be right there together. Ironic and terrifying at the same time lol I'm going to be hosting a 2 year old's birthday party when I'm full term.

  • My DS will be 3 on Oct 3 - but I'm thankful he's pretty much potty trained! I would love to connect with other expecting and toddler moms. This is a whole new ball game this time!
  • I would love a weekly check in. My daughter is 19 months and we are starting to work on potty training (slow, no pressure process). Should be interesting with a baby thrown into the mix! So grateful to have a husband who steps in when I need to lay down because I am sick/tired.
  • @amypann if your little likes Elmo, there is an awesome Elmo potty training video on Youtube! My son is obsessed with it and will sing the songs constantly ("I wash, wash, wash my hands. That's what big kids do! Scribbily, scubbily, bibbily, bubbly. Clean hands are good for you!" to the tune of Row Row Row Your Boat and "First you wipe until you are clean, drop in the toilet paper. Then you push the handle down...FLUSH goes the potty!" to the tune of Pop Goes the Weasel are our favorites and he busts them out in public bathrooms all the time. We even got a little round of applause one time!)

  • I have a 2.5 year old son. I'm hoping he will be excited to have a little brother or sister, but we'll see. Just need to get him transitioned to a big boy bed before May!

We transitioned to a toddler bed this past weekend. My son is only 17 months, but he was climbing out of his crib when he woke up (never fell thankfully, but we had a few close calls). So far, so good. He's in an open-front convertible crib now, so we'll probably transition again to a low sitting twin when baby needs the crib.
