Need help getting baby to sleep at night

My seven week old has suddenly stopped sleeping good at night. He was doing great,then I had to spend a few days in the hospital and since then he won't stay asleep. He'll go down for 40 minutes tops then he's up screaming until he sees me. Also he wants to eat constantly, like every two hours. He was a big baby, and the doctor recommended ginning him a little water at night when he's doing these constant feedings. Not saying he won't get formula at night, but just to add a bottle of water too. Any thoughts?

NOOOO! How could a doctor recommend a bottle of water at night???? Water is a huge NO-NO at this age. It can be damaging actually.
OP, your LO is very, very, very young and still needs to eat at night. All newborns sleep great for the first few weeks but as they get older, sleeping gets worse and worse. THIS IS TOTALLY NORMAL. You have to accept that your baby is going to change a lot so don't get used to things being a certain way for long.
Both my kids still needed a MOTN bottle until 7 or 8 months. My daughter was having 2 to 3 feedings a night at 6 months old! Some babies still need a MOTN feeding until a year or longer too. Just feed your baby as often as he needs it right now. At 7 weeks old you have to do what he needs, when he needs it. Period.
