Extremely active at 38 weeks

My baby moves and kicks at a normal rate I'd say. But today, she has moved WAY mote than usual. An hour straight she kicked and punched very hard. And it was giving me lightning crotch the whole time to. She never does this. Should I be worried or concerned?

Re: Extremely active at 38 weeks

  • No because baby can never move too much. I've been having irregular contractions for like 2 weeks (ugh!!!) . What I've noticed when they let up he gets really active because he's finally not being squeezed. If you are contracting then that may be why she's so active.

  • I'd be happy if my baby moved that much. Makes me worry less when I feel her a lot because I know everything is okay. I feel like recently she's been moving less than usual.
  • I'm sorry. I understand it. At 36 weeks mine's convinced she's still in Cirque du Soleil. Don't ask me how she manages to move and twist and turn so much!

Once a week my son does these whole body adjustments - usually takes 90 minutes and is uncomfy as hell as it happens. And recently (since 36w3d) at least once a day he does a slightly similar motion for 30 minutes on a lazy day and a full hour on his most active. It tends to make me tired and sore, usually in need of a nap soon after. He's a wiggler!

    So you're not alone :)
  • Sometimes my baby kicks that much or that hard she takes my breath away and I just sit there saying ouch ouch ouch lol last night you could feel her sticking something like a limb out and it hurt lol xx
  • Nope! My babe was super active for a few days at 37-38 weeks. Now, she's more quiet and I often poke her to make sure she's there! Enjoy it while it lasts.
  • I'm 40w tomorrow and this baby is still squirming around in there. My DS moved throughout delivery. It totally freaked out the nurses because he kept moving away from the fetal monitoring belt. He turned out to be a very active child as well. I think I have another lively one on my hands.
