I am definitely minority here but DH and I had sex on Thursday for the first time (7 weeks pp) and it was actually really great. I used a shit ton of lube and it was wonderful. Had sex yesterday, having sex tomorrow. Not today though, today was rest day for my Virginia

ETA: I lied, it was actually 8 weeks pp, not 7
ETA2: maybe all the hate just built up into good sex

I bit the bullet at 7 weeks and since then we have had it 4 times total. The first 3 weren't enjoyable and hurt. The last time I was actually close except my dh was too quick, damn him.
I kind of agree you will just have to bite the bullet. Its going to be worse the longer you wait.

Ditto on all this, exactly. I told DH that every time I think about sex, the words "scar tissue" are also in my thoughts. That put it into perspective for him, and he backed off.

The last time we had sex was enjoyable. I have lowered drive, probably due to BF and also because we fight waaaay more than we ever have. I need to feel good about our relationship to have sex. DH doesn't feel good about our relationship if we aren't having sex. It's a tough spot to be in, but we are working through it.
I'm glad you mentioned the arguing thing. We are the same. It feels like all the friggin time, just a small speed bump. But this is what I said to DH, we need to be happy to enjoy it.. No point going through the motions if there's really no intimacy.

I just read about the bfing thing too. It's apparently so your "cub" gets full protection whilst young and you don't fall pregnant.

Who has had the mirena? Are you happy with it? Side effects?
  • DH and i did the deed 7 weeks PP after i had my Mirena placed. It was different, almost like i could feel exactly where i had stitches, but it got better as we went. But DH claims he can feel the Mirena when i am on top... now i am freaked out about that! Has anyone else had this issue? Debating if i should give the Dr a call to check placement... I've been putting off more sexy time because i don't want another accidental LO! Haha :-S

I have heard from friends that their partners can sometimes feel the IUD.

Ok, not trying to sounds snotty here, but I feel so much sexier than I did pre baby. I am 8 weeks pp. I am down to my pre pregnancy weight, but stretch marks, and a pooch. But hell! I made a baby! Nothing sexier than that. I feel so much more comfortable in my body now. Confident in it.

DH and I have had sex once. It was slightly uncomfortable, but we got into the groove. I haven't been craving sex, but I was never sexually charged. I agree with the others about delving into other sexy time options. Oral and hand stuff may be a good option. Sometimes more fun than the actual deed. Good luck!

ETA: don't forget to pee after sex. Helps prevent UTIs

Going to plan to have sexy time tomorrow and obviously need some lube do you guys have any recommendations? I'm super sensitive to products and will get yeast infections from basically any foreign products ...but gotta find a lube that hopefully won't affect me?

There's one at target called "good clean love". It's organic and clean etc etc. Green tube. Good stuff.
  • ^^ awesome thanks guys !!

SO and I have just done it for the first time today. I'm 8weeks pp. We didn't use lube, kinda wish we had just to make it that bit more pleasant.
I had a tearing feeling the whole time, did anyone else experience that?

At least now that we've done he'll get off my back about it. Honestly wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.
  • I am 8 weeks pp from a c/s; we have tried several times but it hurts. A lot. We thought we'd try lube because dryness seems an issue but the box said not to use if preggo or breastfeeding without Dr. rx. As I read these it seems like others are using it... guess a call to my Dr. is in order...

Lol just use it. My dr was rambling off different brands to use. They recommend it!

I didn't even look at this. I'm BFing but every class I took said use it because breastfeeding causes you to need it.
  • @SJ1604 - here's where we've been discussing post partum sex issues
  • Ok so here's what's going on with me...seems I'm not the only one having issues so that makes me feel better lol but here goes...
I had my first baby 9 weeks ago. I was supposed to be induced but after the cervidel I went from 2 cm (which is where I was at my last doctors appointment) to 10 cm in two hours so no pitocine needed! I tore a little and needed 2 internal stitches. (Sorry for the tmi but they were at the back of my lady parts where the skin is between that and your butt)
Didn't have any issues with the stitches, they healed like normal but still sore when I have sex.
I had like NO sex drive when I was pregnant (my poor hubby lol) and now I am finally starting to get my sex drive back and every time we do it it's so sore!!! My guy is average so it's not like it's him tearing me apart....how long till that small area that was stitched won't be sore anymore?

He says we just need to practice more lol (typical man response lol)

He's actually right! After having DD 5 years ago I had a bad tear and had several stitches (16 I think) and even now if we skip out on sex for a while it hurts especially when I'm bent over (tmi I know). I guess frequent sex keeps things...looser?
  • @SJ1604 yeah I think the best thing to do is keep trying! It will slowly get better. Try for once a week and increase from there?

I think that is very true, we barely had sex during pregnancy and then I had a caesarean and it hurt to start with but each time it's gotten a little better
  • We've did it twice after I got the go ahead at 6 weeks and then I had my Tubes tied not long after so we had to lay off for a week and now we're back at it and it's just so sore! It wasn't a bad tear and only 2 stitches but good lord is it sore lol and it seems to be right where all the pressure is no matter which position we try lol
