Prepping your uterus for a Transfer

hi ladies - I am the one embryo lady...:) and I am just waiting for my period to come and start the process of prepping my uterus. Any tips or suggestions? I have all my meds and have even taken two weeks of work to just.... Relax. I am not drinking or having coffee and watching my diet. I am eating a lot of pineapple too!!

Would love to hear your stories and or advice.

This has to work!! :)

Best,
Patty

Re: Prepping your uterus for a Transfer

  • I haven't done IVF, but have you tried acupuncture? It's been shown to increase the success rate by increasing blood flow to the uterus. Best of luck!

  • If you can do accupuncure before and after the transfer and ask for some valume.

  • I'd suggest trying not to over relax, if that makes sense. Try to schedule some things to do throughout each week so your mind isn't constantly on the transfer because it'll drive you crazy! Also, as hard as it is, don't over analyze every cramp, pain, swollen noon and everything else because that will really wreck havoc on your psyche.

    Good luck.

  • I didn't do anything special before or after. In fact, I went shopping and out to lunch afterward. First frozen took.
  • I think it's cute you call yourself the "one embryo woman," :)

So, let me just tell you about my concern with what you're saying here, though obviously I'm pro "the healthier, the better." You are really going all the way to the extreme here. We all hope that you get your BFP in a big, big way. But in the event that you don't, taking so much responsibility for living a "perfect" life until transfer could easily lead to a spiral where you feel like something is wrong *with you* if you don't get your BFP. And *there is nothing wrong with you.*. So just promise me you'll keep that in perspective, okay? You don't really have a lot of control over what happens from this point on. Be healthy. Be calm. Be careful about thinking you can impact the end result too much!

You'll hear stories on all ends here. I wish I had better advice for you, but I went to a hockey game the night before my transfer and had a few beers :) I generally live healthy and active and just banked on that being enough. I second acupuncture (though I never did it) and I double second "not resting too much." In your head is not your friend here!

  • I just wanted to say Good Luck, all of the advice from pp are accurate.  I have my FX you get your bfp.  I tried to stay busy so I could stay out of my head with the over analyzing.  Living a healthy life is great but just like @jnissa said you dont really have too much control from this point on.  Best wishes to you!

  • @pascorra. Goodluck. Just try to relax as much as you can. Get a massage or see an acupunture. Lol @ one embryo. I did my retrieval last Friday and only one embryo fertilized. Waiting to hear from the doctor today for the Day 3 report. Good luck to you!
TTC for Baby #1 for 3 years. After 2 failed IUI's & IVFs, God blessed us with our miracle :).  FET 12/17/15 (transferred 2 embryos at 5days). First Beta 12/29/15 = 354. Second Beta 12/31/15 = 694. Third Beta 1/7/16 = 6,695.  Finally heard his heartbeat (126)  on 1/14/16 @ our 1st US.  2nd US on 1/21/16, HR was 159.  The most beautiful sound ever :)
  • @jnissa thank you for your advice, I will defitnetly have it with me during this journey. I keep reminding myself to be good to me! I appreciate everyone's kind words. They help more than you know!

I was a bit down yesterday as I saw my doc and he told me that the ICM of the embryo is higher quality, but the trophectoderm quality, where the placenta forms is C. Sigh. So I am trying to not get toooo in my head. But this discouraged me a bit and I am trying to snap out of it. And remind myself there is nothing I can do about this, it is out of my control , and I just need to have faith and relax.

    Thank you ladies,
    Patty
  • Pineapple is not good!!!  Too much sugar.  Just eat the core.

    Also, acupuncture is great.

I wish you all the luck in the world!!  Keep your hopes up.
  • Good luck Patty. For me what worked best was keeping busy. I continued to work out and didn't take any time off work. I told my embie that he's just going to have to get used to an active momma, so it was his choice - take it or leave it. (This is based on my thinking that if crack-addicts can get pregnant, then a healthy 29 yr old can too).

When I started losing my mind (I think everyone does at some point during their 2ww), I ended up at the town library. Somehow the library, of all places, had a very calming effect on me. Anyway, the embie decided to stick around.

So the moral of my story is do what you think is best for YOU. Shop, watch movies, or go for coffee, whatever works for your lifestyle. Staying active worked for me, but may not work for you. The transfer is either going to work or it's not, there's not much you can do about it during the 2ww. If it's a BFN, try not to beat yourself up about it. Second guessing how much pineapple you ate during the 2ww is moot.

Good luck, we are all cheering for you.
