  • You 100% must go to the emergency room immediately. Don't even bother trying to reach your doctor first. It makes perfect medical, financial and social sense, so just head over there. Especially if you are scared and it would make you feel better because that's what ER's are for, allaying your fear and making you feel better.
  • While blockage might be part of it, I'm surprised nobody has really called out that this amount of weight gain is far beyond the recommendations. While I know starbursts are delicious, I would highly recommend laying off them for a while, and trying to walk a lot more (maybe with music instead of candy). I find that long walks stimulate bowel movements and this could also be a good way to slow down the weight gain. I also agree with a prior poster who recommended a glass of water any time you think you are hungry. Best of luck!!!
  • Love love love this so much!

Something I've been doing that has been working really well since about week 7 is a combination of Smooth Move laxative tea steeped in kale juice, cooled down EXACTLY to 92 degrees (something about 92 really helps spark the turtle head) and I drink it upside down in a yoga pose handstand. The key is to drink the 92 degree kale juice tea UPSIDE down in the handstand. Otherwise, kiss your potty time goodbye.

Yeah, I understand. Starbursts are key. If you're a red fan like me, join our online community.

  • Pink and yellow Starburst for lyfe.
  • Fav reds all the way
  • I hope many of these suggestions are in jest because they seem dangerous.

I hope these people are joking as well, otherwise they're giving ridiculous weight loss advise that should never be done while pregnant!

PP mentioned that she hoped some of these posts were in jest. Are some of you not even giving me real advice?! I came here for support and guidance.

42 pounds is way too much to have gained in only 19 weeks, as I'm sure your doctor will tell you at your next visit. They say the average person should gain a TOTAL of 25-35lbs in a pregnancy. You're also putting yourself at risk of gestational diabetes, which is one of the most common reasons for admissions on the high risk OB floor I work on. You definitely need to cut back on the sweets and start making healthier choices. Maybe some grapes and strawberries instead of starburst all the time?

Let the woman have her starburst she's good. It's not like she's gained 100lbs

Well, I have heard that every pregnancy is different. Some people gain a lot of weight and some don't! Im pretty optimistic that I'm healthy! Most of these ladies have not attacked my weight and instead gave me helpful advice on relieving my bowel issues. Thank you for your concern but until my OB is concerned, I think I'll be totally fine.

  • I think you should have a chocolate laxative for each starburst you unwrap.

Well, if you're concerned, CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-P
  • I. Just. Can't. Stop. Laughing.

  • Starburst will constipate you because it's pure sugar! Try sticking to fruits and veggies,(not Taco Bell or Kentucky, too greasy and not healthy for you and baby), prune juice will help, and water, water, water! Try seeing your Doctor sooner, he/she will give you the help you need :)
  • 42 pounds in 2nd trimester Alone? Your pushing it if you gain 40+ pounds the entire pregnancy. This is not good at all. You only need to eat 300 extra calories a day. I'm 5'7 started at 210, I'm 17 weeks and still 210. Because I know I'm already overweight .. I'm scared for you honestly.

I really appreciate everyone's kindness and help! Everyone has been so nice! Im not worried at all. Im normally pretty small so, I'm sure it'll be just fine. A little optimism goes a long way, so I'm just going to keep on with the good vibes and treat myself to my starburst here and there. I'll probably cut out the pink ones though, because I feel like that color isn't as naturally occurring as the others. It's probably the least healthy and I don't want to risk anything.
PP was so concerned she wanted let the other thread know about your weight gain! Phew!

This is a joke ...I started a thread almost 4 weeks ago that I was 17 weeks and I hadn't gained any weight and since then there have been 3-4 new threads saying the exact same thing as me....they are making fun. Annnnd it's hilarious.
