Anyone Else Still Working?

Re: Anyone Else Still Working?

  • I'm 34w1d and still working. I work from home 2-3 days a week and commute an hour and a half the other days. At 38 weeks, I will work 100% from home until baby comes. I don't mind working up to my DD. I like to stay busy. My biggest issue is my pubic bone and SI joint pain everyday. A co-worker brought me a birth ball to sit on as my desk chair just agitates my sore spots!!

  • I started up again after having been off for summer (teacher). I hate it (not the kids, my admin is even less supportive this year and borders on abusive) and school hasn't even started yet.  I'm crying before and after work and even through a few meetings. Unfortunately, there's nothing to be done about it as my OB informed me today. Until I give birth or the stress manifest a medical condition (such as preterm labor), I'm stuck.

  • On my feet 40+ hours a week, managing a restaurant still :D 37 weeks, 5 days. I'm working until I go into labor. The joys of business ownership ;) Here's to hoping it also helps me to be able to bounce back quicker though!
  • I am still working and planning on it up till my due date. I have a little over 4 weeks left and a coworker mentioned today that I am not waddling. I chalk that up to working 40-50 hrs a week!
  • I wish I was still working, it would keep my mind off of baby coming. All I do is sit at home and think.
  • I'm 35 weeks and full time. I work two 12s and two 8a as an X-ray tech at a large hospital. On my feet all day and pushing around big equipment. While I appreciate that it's kept my weight gain at only 18 lbs so far and no swelling, I'm still super sore at the end of my days! I'll be working up until labor though so a few more weeks to go.
  • I'm still working as a server! Plan is to quit at 38 weeks but if I get bored I will pick up shifts. Definitely getting harder to be on my feet for 6 hours!
  • I read a study that women who continue to work until their due date tend to go later than those who stop prior to their due date. They think it may be due to the physiological changes that take place in preparation prior to birth. Unfortunately the U.S. is so behind in our maternal care that most continue to work out of necessity. I hope it changes for the better soon. I will stop work at 39 weeks but it means a loss of one week's pay. Husband and I decided it was a small price to pay for less risk of going late and being induced which we all know can lead to further medical intervention. Good luck to those pushing through!!
  • 35 weeks. Due September 25th. Last day is September 9th.
  • Im still working 9 hour shifts 5 days a week at a call centre! Sounds easy but sitting in a computer chair for hours on hours is very uncomfortable. Going to be going on leave Sept 5th!!! Cant come soon enough. And my due date is Sept 17th :)
  • Working full time up to my scheduled c-section! I want all of my FMLA time to spend with the baby but it's been getting so difficult to talk myself out of taking just a couple of days off prior to delivery
  • I'm 36w2d today & still working FT. 8-12 hr shifts on my feet is a struggle but I love being a nurse & plan to work until labor or doc tells me to stop. EDD 9/18
  • 37 weeks and planning on working till the end. I might get the opportunity to scheduled an induction week 39, so if I can I'll do that and work up until that day, but otherwise sticking it out. I'm SUPER tired and sore though and work seems impossible many days.
  • I am due 9-15-15 and I am still working.  I am hoping my DH will suggest this be my last week.  Next week I will be 38 weeks.  It's soo soon!
  • I plan on working until I cant! Everyone calls me crazy. But I have a desk job. I am up and down most of the day and not sitting the entire time but its still not strenuous. Big shout out to you ladies work 10+ hours on your feet!! I can tell I am struggling to get up and down and even to get to the bathroom is quite the adventure. But I'm toughing it out as much as I possibly can - I want to send my days off with baby not at home sitting like a bump on a log anticipating labor.

    25 days to go!!! :) EDD 9/19/15

  • Still working as a massage therapist and athletic trainer. Plan on going till the end (Sept 26). I have good days and bad days, just depends on how long I work. Some days are 13 hours long, those are the hard ones! But, it'll all be worth it once I can spend my full 3 months with my baby!
  • I'm still working at 38 weeks and two days and am feeling pretty good. I did go home early today because I was having contractions. I think I scared my boss so he won't be looking for me tomorrow haha!

Yes all this! So with my first baby, I resigned from my super-stressful-wacky-hours job 2 MONTHS prior to my due date so I could finally concentrate fully on prepping my body and mind for having a nice home birth. It was a good idea, I read a ton of books on natural birth and did a bunch of yoga but she was still nearly two weeks late! ;)

Still working as a full time mom homeschooling 3 kids until I go into labor with these twins. (Does that count as "still working"?!) It's the best job ever to me, but I don't get a paycheck! ;D
  • I'm a nurse working 12 hour shifts. I plan on working until delivery. It's what most people on our unit do as well.
  • @jclff I finally understand why sitting so long in pregnancy is torture. I recently had a family weekend where we did A LOT of sitting. More than I ever do at work or home. My waistline, especially the lower back area, KILLED. We've been back from the weekend 1 day with my normal routine (a mix of sitting and standing) and I feel so much better.

Overall I feel like my waistline, hips, and bladder are way more sensitive than even a week ago.
  • Still working 6 days a week, but plan on having September 6th be my last day if she hasn't come early. I'm pretty sure I'll be very useless by that point seeing as I'm already having difficulties getting up and down from the floor and demonstrating exercises for my clients.

  • I am still working but luckily I am at a desk job so it isn't too bad. I would honestly almost prefer to go into labor while at work LoL...

  • I'm an elementary teacher working 10 hr days, I plan on working until the end! I can't just sit around, I'll go stir crazy!

33 years old, Married Oct '11,

Summer '14: Diagosed with hypothryoidism, pollup, LPD, Low AMH, strong FSH.

BFP: 1/22/15. EDD: 9/23/14. Rainbow baby!

  • I'm still working part time but this is my last week. My job is 94 miles away and I don't want to risk going into labor in another city.
  • I have a full time desk job, so it's nothing. Props to the women who are on their feet all day, I can't stand for more than 2 hrs without feeling like my feet are gonna fall off. My EDD is 9/18 and I think my last day is going to be 9/11. I may work part time after that, but haven't decided. I'm very thankful that my job is being so accommodating and lenient on this pregnancy.
