Anyone Else Still Working?

Even though I'm dead tired most of the time, I am still (slowly) chugging along working 4-8 hours a day at a hospital. I'm glad that I can sneak away from some time alone with my boyfriend, but is anyone else worried about going in to labor at work?

Re: Anyone Else Still Working?

  • Very worried. I work 10 hr days 6-7 days a week. Rotating shift at that. 2 weeks dayshift and 2 weeks nightshift. I'm pretty sure that's where I'll be when the time comes unfortunately. Oh well =/

  • Still working full time and hating it. 2 days on day shift, 3 days on swing shift a week. I'm planning on stopping work a week before my due date but I've had a lot of people tell me they think I won't make it to my due date, for whatever reason. If it happens, it happens. My work will just have to deal lol.
  • Yup! I have 4 weeks and 4 days left and still waitressing lol I'm happy I am as its kept me healthy and active. But I'm soooo done. Going till the 31st and then will have 20 days till my due date. I'm too out of breath and my feet hurt but I love making money. Oh well time for daily naps soon :)
  • I worked through 36 weeks and stopped at 37 but now I must spend the next two weeks moving into a new house. That's no fun. I've spent this week packing and taking care of things on my to do list for baby's arrival. I feel for those of you still working, I'm so exhausted just from packing boxes!
  • I'm planning to work through 9/25. I'm due 9/27.
  • I'm 35 +2 and still working. Plan on working til my due date. This is baby #5 and I've did the same with all them. It's very exhausting and am on my feet all day even when I get home from work. Maybe even more so then. But it keeps me busy and makes time not crawl by.

  • Oh heck yeah I am still working and I only have 2 weeks and 4 days left. I mentioned to my managers on monday that I was have some contractions and boy did they freak! Gotta love male managers lol!!
  • I went part time as of yesterday!! I plan on just workin up until our LO is born. I have a great manager and great co-workers though who let me just hide in an office and work and not have to deal with patients all day if I'm not feeling it!
  • I'm working up until labor, 8-9 hour days but have refused to do any more OT than absolutely necessary. My team has been pretty good about taking care of me and luckily I have a desk job. I don't know how you ladies do it in your feet all day. Yall are amazing in my eyes!
  • Still working here, but I am exhausted! I went down to part time last week and I have one more week, then starting Sept 1st I will be out on leave (EDD 9/10). And as PP said, you ladies working on your feet deserve a gold medal I don't know how you do it but you're awesome!!!
  • I'm still working full time at 40 hours a week. I work the normal 9-5 but it's starting to get more difficult. The plan is to work until 9/4 with a EDD of 9/14. Just taking it one day at a time!
  • Still working full time at 38w 2d with a 40 min commute each way. Planning to continue until this baby arrives.
  • I'm still working full time at 38.1wks. I sit at a desk all day & it KILLS my back, but I'm trying to tough it out. Praying baby girl will at least give me a small break & be a couple days early! Fingers crossed!
  • I'm working up to edd sept 1. 40 hrs 8 hr shifts with a 1 1/2 commute each way. I'm an xray tech on my feet about 70 percent of day and my backs killing me but I've got no other choice
  • I'm 35 weeks and still working. I have a desk job so I don't really have it all that rough. Ask me again how I feel about it in a week or two. It's definitely getting harder to get around even getting up from my desk but I'm nothing like the super women who are on their feet for 12 hour shifts.

I do worry a little about going into labor at work but I have a great support system both at work and home so I'm not TOO worried.
  • I'm on count down mode, 8 days of work left before I'm out! I thought I would be able to make it till my EDD but my back is giving out on my. I'm a massage therapist and doing 4-5 hours of massage each day is kicking my butt at this point!
  • Yep! I'm 38w1d and working until 8/27, dd is 9/2. My office knows I'm resigning so they've pretty much taken all current projects away from me and had me turn in my keys, etc. My boss' eyes got so big when I told her I was 3cm dilated at my check yesterday! I know it means nothing, but she just had an elective C-section about 6 months ago because she hadn't progressed by 40 weeks...I think she expects my baby to come any day now (I'm still convinced he'll be late)! So here I sit, refreshing The Bump over and over...and over....just one week left!
  • Yep!! Working full time 8 hr shifts in retail.....yesterday I was so tired I wanted to cry but I don't want to stop early and use any fmla until after he is here. Also I don't want to come back until after Christmas so hopefully he is a couple of days late ;)
  • I'm still working. I'm on my feet 8 hours a day, and work every weekend at a busy museum. It's exhausting. I'm ready to stay my leave now just to get everything done in time (so behind!), but I don't want to lose benefits to soon.
My leave starts on 9-11. I'm due 9-18. Whew.
  • Still working.. 10 hours a day at that. I think it keeps us healthy and very active.. I don't want to stop but I want to stop lol
  • Yup.37 weeks and still working full time. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, walking on concrete and lifting up to 50lbs. I try to avoid anything over 30 but it's not always possible. My last day of work is the 31st though and I'm definitely looking forward to it.
  • I worked through 36 weeks and stopped at 37 but now I must spend the next two weeks moving into a new house. That's no fun. I've spent this week packing and taking care of things on my to do list for baby's arrival. I feel for those of you still working, I'm so exhausted just from packing boxes!
This is exactly my life and it sucks! I mean, I'm super grateful for our awesome new house but holy crap timing much! I was joking (bitterly) with my mom yesterday that it's a good thing I took my maternity leave early so I could spend every day washing walls and prepping the house :-\
  • I'm pretty lucky I guess. I'm 36 weeks today and will be working full-time up until my scheduled c-section. My job is a desk job and I only occasionally have to lift things, but since I work in sports I have a lot of dudes around who are willing to help. :)
  • I'm still working until I pop. I want to be off with my baby instead of early. My coworker took two weeks prior to her due to date off and her baby came 10 days late. I get 12 weeks, so I want to last as long as possible. It helps that I work here at the hospital I'm delivering at so all I have to do if I go into labor is take the elevator upstairs. Car is packed already so I'm set.
  • I'm 38 weeks and 2 days and I plan on working until baby gets here. Since I only get 12 weeks unpaid with FMLA, I want to make sure as many of those weeks as possible are spent with baby. I work 45 hours a week at a desk so its not manual labor. And thankfully my coworkers are like my second family and they are excited that I'm still around. This is also why I'm not too worried about going into labor at work, would just give me a good story to tell and I have plenty of support here.

That being said, I'm giving myself a cut off date of Labor Day. My due date is 9/1 and if my little guy isn't here by the 7th, I'll start leave then hoping he comes quick!
  • Still working and hating it. Work 10 hour days and stand most of the day. Ill be 36 weeks on sunday. I'll be working up until September 14th..due September 20th.
  • Working untill 8/28- due 9/14 . Even though I'm just a nanny things are becoming very uncomfortable and difficult . Props to all you working long hours with way more difficult jobs . I can't imagine
  • Yes! Working til I pop, just hope it's not here at work!
  • still working full time up until my due date 9/9. Three female coworkers today have commented that it looks like my bump has dropped lower. Baby was definitely moving around last night so hoping it's a hint she might come out before her due date. DD1 was 6 days late and I worked up until due date also with that pregnancy. good luck mommies!
  • My plan is to work right up until my due date! On the positive, I am glad for the distraction and it makes the days go by faster (although they still seem to drag at times!). But I am very nervous about delivering at work even though I work in a hospital - my medical director told me that even though he's an MD he is not trained in delivering babies....I told him that if he delivered my baby I would be forced to quit right there on the spot!!! The biggest feat for me is that I work about 90+ minutes away from my hospital...but this is my first so I'm hoping that what they say about the first one taking a while is true!

  • 38 weeks pregnant, still serving tables :)
  • Yup..36.1 weeks along.. I will be working right up until I go into labor.
  • I'm mostly working part time now. I plan on working until baby comes. I need all the monies before baby comes and I have to take unpaid time off!

  • Yes! EDD is September 3rd but will most likely have a c section next Thursday due to breech baby. My last day at work is going to be Monday!
  • Oh yes, definitely still working. I'm not due until 9/30 though so I'll probably work until the week before that. I'm tired, but that's more due to my 2 yo than my job!
  • Yea. I'm 34 weeks along. I work 5 days a weeks around 6 hour shifts waitressing.
  • I wish I could afford to take more PTO ahead of time!
I will be working up until my water breaks unfortunately.  I sit at a desk most of the day though, so It won't be too difficult.
  • I'm 36w2d and I work 10 hour days at a neurology office. I am at a desk for most of the day thank goodness, but it does get exhausting and stressful and this whole pregnancy brain is taking its toll. I have to work much slower to make sure I don't mess up dates and information. I am also working until baby is born and thankfully the hospital is right up the road from my job, but I really hope it doesn't happen while at work, that would be embarrassing.
  • Me! I'm a third grade teacher and I'm 37w1d. I had an ultrasound yesterday and our girl weighs approximately 7 lbs 6 oz. and her head is measuring 3 weeks ahead. I wasn't that nervous until I found out her measurements yesterday
