Anyone else in the same boat. I'm eating healthy but all I do eat. I'm eating as I post this TBH. At first I thought starburst was just a great craving but now I feel like if I don't have them or other sweets, I might go insane. I don't have another appointment for awhile who knows how much I'll have gained by then!

  • That's not in the range my doctor gave me, but I think it's such a personal process you should consult your doctor about your concerns re: weight gain. Everyone's pregnancy is unique I think. I totally feel you on the constant hunger though!
  • Make sure you're drinking lots of water too. That is helpful for keeping things regular along with the starbursts.
  • Your dr is probably going to want to try to slow that weight gain down a bit, but they don't usually recommend dieting. Maybe examine your diet to be sure you're getting enough protein to help you stay satisfied longer and not just empty carbs. It is hard bc you are hungry all the time but I've found bumping up my protein helps me snack less.
  • I am 20w and gained 16. My doctor said that was plenty for me; however, I am a small frame and have not had a good BM either :(
For my sugar cravings, which have subsided a little during pregnancy, I try to eat fruit and if that doesn't work I drink a ton of water. If that does not do it, I will schedule acupuncture for help. After that, you just need a little sugar :)
  • Girl I'm still down 17, you've got problems! Maybe try the master cleanse?
I've also hear a good juice cleanse can really drop lbs fast!

  • I would definitely check in with your doctor about that.  I've only gained 7 overall at 17 weeks and my dr was like um, slow down please.  (Because I gained 12 in one month.  I had lost 5 due to morning sickness, so only have a real gain of 7 since my pregnancy started, but she was just like, from one lady to another, pace yourself because it is hard to take it off later and you'll definitely gain a bunch more in the third tri.)

Overall, I wouldn't stress!  Everyone's different.  My boss literally gains 100 pounds with every pregnancy.  Almost exactly!  And other friends have only gained 15-25.  But just check in with your dr. and see what he/she says.  Mine was just like, lay off the carbs for a couple of weeks and don't fret.  :)
  • I gained 14lbs with my first daughter. I'm currently 20 weeks pregnant with #2(a boy this time) and I'm already up 18lbs. Everything about this pregnancy has been different, so I'm not surprised about the weight. My MD isn't concerned. He said I'm still within a healthy weight range for my age. I recommend checking with your MD as everyone is different.

Can you master cleanse while pg?! That seems dangerous.

Some people say that drinking alcohol and eating sushi is dangerous during pregnancy, but lots of women do that, and their babies are just fine!
That is a good point. Do you think it will make me have diarrhea? I actually have kind of a phobia of diarrhea.

You can take Imodium while doing the master cleanse. My cousins, step-brothers girlfriend did it and was fine.

If you get constipated enough, that phobia will turn into a near fetish.
  • You should probably poop as much as possible. Aim for 5x/day. Good luck!

That seems really excessive. Are you sure?

My H's Nanny (gma) swears by prune juice shaken with metamucil for constipation. She said to do it on a day when you're not planning to leave the house at all.
This sounds like a nightmare! No, thank you. I don't think this is good advice at all.  [-X

Well do you want to poop or not? I'm just trying to help! :-?
The longer you keep it in there the more it will hurt when you do go.

  • Taco Bell! Whenever I eat Taco Bell I may as well just skip the step of actually eating it, and just throw the burrito in the toilet instead.

    =))
  • Maybe some KFC or a McDonald's cheeseburger to help get things moving :D
  • I don't think pooping is going to eliminate that much weight. Although pooping is wonderful. Perhaps a pregnancy safe diet plan? Using something to track your eating?
  • I'm about 17 weeks and have gained about 17 pounds. I am having twins and am apparently on track for weight gain. I also may not have pooped in a while but have started taking colace and Metamucil, so I'm hoping that will change!

For twins, the doctors have all told me to aim for a weight gain of 40 pounds.
  • Embrace the curves! I am sure hubby will love the extra cushion! O:-)

Also, in all seriousness, skip all that liquid crap and get a squatty potty. Felt ridiculous ordering it but I love mine!

This is the funniest thing I've heard all day.

OP, maybe you should try to just drink water every time you're hungry.
