Plus size November mamas?

Re: Plus size November mamas?

  • Plus size from Houston 3rd time mom

I was 238 pre conception now I'm 227. I cut out sodas completely and stay active. I still have a B belly and it is hard to find clothes my size. I always wear leggings from Walmart and longer shirts. I did get a couple of maternity jeans at a resale shop and those are great just so hot.

  • Yeah, I have a really long torso, so regular shirts don't work for me. My friend gave me a bunch of her maternity clothes, which are nice and worn in, having to actually go shopping was a bit of a shock! I am loving the stretchy maxi dresses and skirts, no more pants for me!
  • Plus size FTM from Michigan here, too, @KatieSetler!

I have gained 17lbs at 25w4d. It's a little scary, considering my doctor doesn't want me to gain more than 30lbs and I'm over half there already.

Kohl's has some plus sized maternity on their website, which is where I've bought both of my maternity pants. All of my shirts are from Old Navy or Pink Blush Maternity.

  • I've taken to just wearing yoga pants and my bigger t-shirts. I was a size too big when I got pregnant to wear my maternity clothes from before. I have struck out pretty much everywhere finding maternity clothes to fit my booty. My Target and JCP have zero selection. Kohl's here had a maternity section shoved into the baby area with up to size 10. It's just as depressing as regular clothes shopping.
  • I'm 28 weeks I started out at 242 and at 28 weeks I'm down to 209 morning sickness has been constantly all day though out this pregnancy. . . jcp.com has great maternity clothes!
  • 3rd plus size pregnancy here. No problems getting pregnant either. My ob has never said a word to me about weight & I had all tests when I was supposed to. Never had any issues with diabetes or blood pressure. Gained only 4 pounds with first dtr & 15 with 2nd. At 25 weeks now, I'm already up 10 pounds. Got all maternity clothes at Destination Maternity and jcp.com.
  • Is it weird that I weigh a little more thanpretty much all of you ladies (I don't like saying my weight) and I have a "D belly" and not a "B belly" like I thought it would stay? Not that I'm complaijing. I'm very happy I have a D belly bump. Also, I think I mentioned this before, but I've lost fat and replaced it with baby lol. My husband point out to me that I look thinner just with a bump. That made me so happy! My whole goal has been to have a happy and healthy pregnancy and so far so good!
    P.S. today I am at 25 weeks!
  • I've only gained around 5 pounds and I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow. I'm a bigger lady, I found amazing maternity pants at Motherhood Maternity. I'm pleasantly surprised that I'm actually showing, I thought for sure I wouldn't show at all. So in love with my "B" belly bump. I hated it at first, but realized it's carrying a miracle. :)
  • I'm plus sized too and I'm 27 weeks today and I've gained 27 lbs and my midwife is fine with that and she is having me take my diabetes test same time as everyone else you'll be fine if anything you OB shouldn't be letting you diet while pregnant your baby needs all the nutrition it can get
  • I've had good luck on line with JC Penney and Walmart. Their returns are easy too. Amazon has a few things that could be morphed depending on your size. Happy shopping!
  • I'm a plus size gal, and I actually lost 12 lbs in my first trimester. My total weight gain for the pregnancy has been about 4.5 lbs and I'm 28 weeks today. I've had a completely normal, healthy pregnancy and continue to work 45 hours a week as a hair and nail stylist. You got this, girl. Just focus on feeding baby what's good for him/her and staying active :)
  • I'm plus as well. I luckily had good results from the gestational diabetes tested and all other things good just slightly low iron when I went for the test. My ob just wants me to eat iron rich foods and be as active as I can. I've only gained 8lbs since my first visit and I'm 28 weeks. My husband gained more over our vacation to Chicago than I have since being pregnant lol. For clothed I've just wear more stretch pants with loose tops.
  • I'm plus sized (16) but also petite (4'11") so buying clothes has been a real pain! My mother in law got me some cute clothes from Kohls. I'm 28 weeks now and I'm just on the verge of being diagnosed with GD. My 3 hr glucose test was on Friday and my fasting blood sugar was fine as was my 3 hr draw. My 1 hr was high and my 2 hr was only five over. Ugh! I'm not surprised though because my sister (not plus sized) had GD as well. My blood pressure has been fantastic the whole way through but I've never had problems with it before, and I've only gained 7 lbs which has surprised me. Mostly I'm just sick of people assuming my pregnancy is unhealthy. Have you guys had that problem too? My pregnancy is high risk because I have epilepsy and every time I see a new nurse she assumes it's because I'm heavy. Super annoying!!
  • Have any of you mama's felt baby from the outside yet? I'm 26w3d and haven't yet. My husband is just dying to feel him. Lol.
  • I have quite a bit of extra flub around my belly and have felt/seen kicks on the outside since about 22 weeks. Maybe it is the way your placenta or LO is positioned. Hopefully you feel them soon!! I love watching my belly move when he kicks.

I'm 29 weeks and started feeling outside around 26. So you should be able to give hubby a show soon. :) (edited because my brain forgot I'm a week further along)
  • @HeatherFaye718 - I also just started feeling them around 26 and a few days... of course, he still seems to like to hide when daddy's present so my husband has only seen a few tiny ripples instead of the big ones. But I carry all my extra fat in my stomach so that makes things difficult.
  • @HeatherFaye718 I'm 28 weeks and have an anterior placenta. I didn't really start feeling him kick until maybe 25 weeks. Just a week ago i started feeling him from the outside, grabbed hubbys hand and he felt him kick!! he was like whoah that's  sooooo WEIRD!!!!! lolol

  • I am plus size but loss about 40 lbs so far this pregnancy. Now back up 6. I am tall along with plus size, even with 40lb loss. I bought tops from gap and yoga pants and dressy pants from gap. Jeans from amazon but hated them. Last pregnancy I am still in normal clothes because of the wt loss but am just starting to "pop" I was told by motherhood maturity to try Macy's for tall/long stuff.
  • Eh...I finally gained a few pounds and am a couple away from a number I swore I would never be again... I have pcos (amongst other things) so being on metformin helped me lose 40lbs about 3-4 years ago... I haven't gained nearly that much back but I've maintained that loss up until this pregnancy. .. I was hoping to keep.it maintained. I guess it's back to the food journal to see where o can make some changes and not gain any more. It really got me bummed out today :/ So far my little one is doing great, he's right on track (I'm 27 weels and 2 days) all my numbers have been coming back normal but, on monday, I have the 28 week labs to do and since I do have pcos I have to do the glucose again but this time my doc is having me go off my metformin for the weekend so.I'm a bit anxious about that too.
