Plus size November mamas?

Hey! I'm just wondering if anyone else is plus sized..this is my first and my husband and 1 have been trying for almost 2 years..mind you my ob has always told me the problem with plus size can be is that you don't get period or ovulate ECt ..and that's never been my issue I'm extremely regular..anyways I can't help but to kind of freak out as being so over weight it will affect this pregnancy..I know my ob just told me yesterday the only difference is that they will check for gestational diabetes earlier than normal..I'm just naturally a worry wart and keep having this feeling that what I've waiting so long for can be taken away...also I guess I shouldn't be that shocked but she told me I shouldn't gain more than 10lbs thru out this entire pregnancy, which naturally I hope not too!..I've gone in spurts trying to lose some excess but every month when it didn't happen I kind of lost hope and my diet went along with it.... But just a couple days I got my BFP I got this thing called 21 day fix and it's just exercise and portioning food so my ob said no problem I could do it and if I lost some weight I'd be ok...so finger crossed...thank you to this board for letting me rant lol

I'm plus sized too. There was a thread here in our November bumpies with some second and third time mom's who said they maintained weight, instead of gaining, so once the kid was born they actually had lost some weight. I am aiming for that myself! I haven't had my first appointment yet but my OB's RN said I can do plenty of walking for now.

  • I am also a plus sized mommy to be! My goal is to eat well and walk more (which the puppy will love) during pregnancy. I don't want to lose weight over the course of the pregnancy, which can lead to low birth weight, just keep my body and mind strong and healthy for Baby.
  • I am also plus size! I am trying my best to walk for 45min every second day and eat well. My ankles are already so swollen and boobs huge and sore. I pray it calms down because I am only 6 weeks pregnant.
  • My first pregnancy I lost 23 pounds bc of morning sickness and eating healthier!! The doctor said this time to try to not loose but don't gain. We will see how it goes!! Good luck ladies!!!
  • Hi I'm plus sized too! I also have had weightloss surgery. I worry about not getting enough vitamins.
  • Thanks!! Yes I appreciate everything
  • I am plus sized, AMA, and diabetic! This I my second and I lost 20lbs due to a strict diet with my first and I am down 5lbs with this little bean! My baby was a week early due to induction and he was 8lbs and healthy! Don't worry!
  • I'm a plus sized mom to be and my ob told me on the phone to just watch it but don't just skip stuff like meals or anything just to watch what I eat and if I gain a little I should be ok since I'm just in a 1x but to just be careful and the baby will be fine
  • Plus size and really short. I'm nervousness about carrying so much weight on my frame. Doc said I shouldn't really gain weight which makes me very nervous.
  • I am plus sized and have been through all of my pregnancies.  This time I'm hoping to continue exercising and eating healthy and hopefully come out ahead in the end.

  • I'm plus sized too and have lost 6 pounds so far due to morning sickness. My boobs are huge right now,. Which annoys me. Where have you previous mommies found good plus sized maternity clothes?
  • I have been plus sized for all of my pregnancies and my ob doesn't really say anything about it. I tend to be 10 pounds lighter than my starting weight once I give birth. I just hate the plus size maternity clothes! There's so little to choose from and I usually end up just doing empire waist tops and elastic waist pants instead of actual maternity clothes!

I'm plus sized and this is my first pregnancy. So far, I love to wear empire dresses with leggings, so that's what I'm going to continue to do, I think. I have to keep the material light-weight though, because I'm in Arizona and Springtime here feels like it's Summer already! :(

I think I'd die in Arizona! Lol

I was born in Arizona, but I've always hated the heat. I spent the previous 2 years in Michigan and Iowa, but now I'm back in AZ to be near family for a while, and that is the ONLY reason I'm back... otherwise, I'd still be in Iowa enjoying the beautiful, lush, green Spring that's on its way.
  • I'm in RI and spring is beginning but summer will knocking shortly I'm sure
  • That is true, Summer is inevitable for everyone. But, man, I'd take humidity over this dry desert any day! I know not everyone agrees, but having experienced both, I choose humidity.

If I knew how to sew better, I'd make my own plus size maternity clothes. Now that would be ideal!
  • When my sister got pregnant she did some walking everyday and went on a "diet" that just helped her proportion her meals. It was very successful!
  • I got couple of cute, stretchy spring/summer dresses at Target the other day... I'm from RI too :)
  • In North Carolina we have a store called "Motherhood" in the mall. They have some cute stuff and good sales.
  • I got couple of cute, stretchy spring/summer dresses at Target the other day... I'm from RI too :)

    What part of ri?
  • I'm in Johnston... You?
  • I'm plus size with my first pregnancy too. I've had the same worries. But my ob has been very positive. He said maintaining a decent weight will be easier that I think because I'll be wanting to eat heathier. He also said it will form a good healthy eating habit for post baby.
  • @singandteach about 5 minutes from twin river
  • I love 21 day Fix! Just finished my first round a week or so ago! I think it is ultimately what led to this pregnancy! And I am continuing with the meal plan and modified exercises.
  • I'm a plus size momma due November 2nd with our fourth baby! So excited

I am in RI too! And a plus size momma for the second time.
  • I'm plus size and yes to a certain extent it can be harder but it's not just your weight that can affect it ... as long as your eating all the right things your body should be ok ... just because your over weight doesn't mean your unhealthy. Being over weight can also have a higher risk of having a miscarriage as well . I am over weight but this is my second pregnancy I lost my first one at 10 weeks and I tried for a year this time and I am job 8 weeks ... It will happen soon enough . Bearing in mind I was also told when I was 17 that I would need ivf if I wanted to get pregnant. Good luck x
  • Second time mom here. I have PCOS, Thyroid problems and Fibromyalgia but I have been able to maintain so far (24 weeks and 4 days :)). My first pregnancy was 11 years ago before my symptoms appeared and before I gained so much weight but, even then I maintained weight. This time around though my hubby even stopped and looked at me and said "you know I think since you've been carrying that boy, you've lost weight. Yea you've got the bump but everything else is smaller." Lol that made me feel pretty awesome. Also, I told my doc at my first appointment " I know my weight is an issue but I want this to be a positive experience, I don't want any negativity, and I plan on this being as healthy an experience as possible." My doc turned out to be understanding and so far I haven't had a negative experience at any check up. Because I have PCOS, they did an early glucose test that came out great as well as all of my blood work up to this point. In a few weeks I'm getting everything retested. I'm a pretty big girl but I've managed to have a pretty healthy and happy experience so far. So it's definitely possible to be plus size and have a healthy baby ( all of his tests and measurements are coming out normal as well.)

Just chiming in as another plus sized momma. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I've been plus sized every time.
  • I'm plus size, too. And sadly my body is packing on the pounds like I was underweight. Post-pregnancy is gonna be a blast...
  • 186 starting weight currently 200 at 25 weeks. So much for only gaining 11-20 lbs during my pregnancy! I am walking and watching what I eat but not going crazy or skipping meals. How is everyone else doing?

  • Can we just talk about how most of the stuff in Motherhood Maternity does not fit big boobs, let alone plus size bumps??? I was so frustrated at my last trip there. Ended up trying old navy (decent) and target (meh) and even tried some dresses on at Torrid (they had some great empire-waist dresses that would totally fit my growing bump). God help me to find some damn maternity dress pants, looks like I'm down to just dresses for the next three months. I'm on the low end of plus, so I can't even imagine the agony of trying to find cute maternity clothes in bigger sizes. :(
  • JCP.com has plus sized maternity clothes :)

I've be lucky that an XL from motherhood fits my boobs. But I did laugh last week I took out my maternity swim suit from there from my last pregnancy and my boob barely fit in it. They've grown a lot from 2.5 years of BFing! I think I'm lucky becaus I'm so short so their stuff fits my bump. Even the size large stuff I have from my first pregnancy.
Old navy seems to be the best. Their stuff all runs so big on me.
  • I've had the worst time buying clothing. Best thing that works for me is buying second hand. These clothes are already stretched out and worn in. They fit great.
  • Pre-pregnancy I was 275. My weight has been fluctuating between that and 281. I'm 28 weeks.
  • I didn't get any plus size maternity clothes. My whole goal is to maintain (doing good, maintaining and sittin' pretty at 24 weeks and 5 days:D). I got a belly band to use with my jeans. It's like the best invention ever for pregnant women. No need to zip or button your pants, just put the belly band over it. I like to roll mine down (it comes with a bit of belly support) it makes it extra secure. My shirts still fit great, being chesty I usually have to buy a size up anyway. As for bras, as long as I can I'm sticking with my sports bras lol. So far I have not given in to maternity clothes. I have, however, bought a couple of maxi dresses which are AMAZING for pregnancy, I just put on Spanx under(for belly support and so my thighs don't get stuck together haha).
  • Plus size Michigan FTM checking in!

I was 262 before baby, went up to 267, then down to 258, and now back at 262 at 23 weeks. I'll be 25w tomorrow. Of course EVERYONE'S saying, "Wow, how much weight have you gained?!" Shut. Up. >:(

But anyway, most of the time I wear sweats or scrubs for work, so when I AM in the maternity clothes, my bump actually looks like a bump and not just a big tummy. I love it! :P
Baby number 1 on the way!
