@Jenichael1217 I understand about your husband being a bit disappointed. My husband is from Indiana, we live in Kansas. His dad and stepmother neither one can really drive so they haven't even gotten to see the baby yet except through pictures. Now there'll be anot her baby when we were just beginning to think we might make it out there.
Maybe you can compensate with pictures and video chats? My MIL keeps sending us books with recordings of her reading them so the LO's can be used to her voice. Of course I love them because she can't get through a single one without laughing.
@RSB1982 - I teach international relations. When it comes to academia, there are definitely good times and bad times to have kids (even for the male professors!).
Yes, I am due on Christmas Day, and I have gotten so many comments about how "terrible" it is to have to share a birthday with a holiday. Like what a "hardship" it will be on the child. I want to smack these people... HARD.
If they had any idea how long it took me to make this baby, how much effort and time went in to trying to have her, and how grateful I am that we have a healthy baby on the way, they would never be so insensitive and stupid.
How inconsiderate of them. A baby due on Christmas is the best gift I could think to receive. Congratulations on your healthy baby!
Well, mine is due December 6 so I haven't gotten too many comments about Christmas. I am in college and I have ten classes left. I go to a college (in my town) that has both face to face and online classes and fall will be the last semester that I will have to take face to face. I feel like this is pretty good timing but I have thought to myself actually that it would be nice if my due date was just like 2 weeks later then that would be perfect so I wouldn't have to rush and take finals early. But don't get me wrong, I am grateful and excited!! Oh and I am a substitute teacher so there's that. Overall, I think it's really good timing!
I'm due on New Year's Eve so hoping baby will stay in there till January. A few people I know who have birthdays very close to christmas say it sucks because everyone forgets about them. I think us December mommies will definitely have it tougher then others.
Apparently March is a hot month for my family... Mom born December 7, Niece born December 16, my birthday is December 22, Father in Law born December 31... My LO EDD is December 16. It was harder sharing my birthday with Christmas/holidays when I was younger but as I've grown up its nice to know I will always see the people I love the most around my Birthday. Excited for the parenting adventure to begin! Sorry for all the nasty comments you've all experienced. People can just be downright rude.
