When will your nursery be ready?

Re: When will your nursery be ready?

  • Wait a sec, you mean this baby needs to have a bedroom of its own??? I was thinking of just letting it share the scrap booking room! Haha! Kidding!!! We working on clearing out the room now, my ma found a place for us to get a crib & dresser made for the baby's room! Now we just need to decide on a style and go see the people! I wanted to get real wood furniture to grow with baby since nothing is cheap anymore, I wanted it to be good & strong to last forever! As for decorating...that changes daily for me! We just bought our hous a year & half ago and painted every room! I really don't want to repaint the room again, so I may just go with it and find something to go with the color he walks are already! Although, I don't know how well Steelers, Pens, & Pirates (all black & yellow teams of Pittsburgh) will go with greenish walls! I guess decisions will have to be made, but hopefully it's completed by January 2016!!!

  • We just finished our nursery!!!!

DD is 14 months old. :D
  • I feel like im a long way from starting this project. Im not due till jan 24th, so i though we'd do it over the Christmas holiday.
  • I want DW to finish the sidecar cosleeper before we bring the baby home but besides that I'm not too particular. The guest room has always been furnished with an eye towards it becoming the baby room so we probably won't do anything besides put the crib in. I want it to just look like a normal room in my house since I'm sure the baby doesn't care how we decorate it! I figure when they get old enough to ask for stuff in there we can start making changes.

My husband is very excited about the nursery. He has just finished painting and plans in setting up our crib either this weekend or while I'm gone next week. Our room did not have a ceiling fan so he installed that 2 days ago. If I don't slow him down we will be done in October! At least I get to do the decorating. Lol

I'll probably do most of everything in October and the beginning of November. My fiancé will be on a month work trip from nov 15 - dec 15 so we are trying to hammer out most of it before then. I have pretty much everything picked out though. We aren't finding out the sex so green and orange it is!
  • Probably will aim to have most done before the holiday mayhem starts...

We live in a 2br apartment and use the second as a computer room/spare bedroom. A friend recently gifted us a bassinet and we already had a dresser in there. So basically all I have to do is get the glider and I'm good until he's ready for a crib. We are not painting or decorating because we move quite often.
  • I'm not putting together a nursery... at all! ODD slept with us until she was 9 months old and that's the plan with this one too. Then, they'll share a room. We have a guest room but I'd like to keep it a gust room at least for now, so when thr time comes I'll relocate all the stuff in her dresser, take it apart and place a bed there. What I should probably do (but won't until the heat lets me breathe a little) is empty one of the closets in that room. Baby may not need a nursery yet but we'll need a place for all the tiny clothes!
  • Within a couple weeks of finding out we were expecting my DH had painted our entire upstairs, where the baby's room will be and where my 2 step kids room's are. We bought a house a year ago and we hadn't gotten to that project yet but it needed done because the entire floor was a chalky pink color!! Now it's all a neutral beige/brown color.
Since I have two step kids in two of the three rooms upstairs, the third bedroom had been our guest bedroom. My intent is to keep this room as a guest bedroom and incorporate a baby's room. It's our largest room so I believe I can do it. When visitors come they'll still have a bed, and I'll get to have a sleep over with my LO : ) so I don't plan to do a lot of decorating on the walls. Maybe a quote sign, but most of my decor will be the bedding, storage, and movable/removable things.
If another baby also comes while either of my step kids live at home, then our youngest 2 will share the third bedroom and we may have to scrap the guest bed. But I like having options like that for guests and future babies.
  • Right now I'm waiting for my husband to finish patching up the wall in the guestroom so I can finish painting and get that set up and start on the nursery. Hopefully before Oct. Oct is always super busy for us which then leads right into Thanksgiving and Christmas and then I'm due the 9th.

Currently it's our office and my sewing/craft room so we have to move everything into our basement. I'm guessing it will slowly get done but honestly Im fine with not having much done.
My other two slept with us right away and I used the nursery for changing and some night feedings.
Like others said and especially since we are team green I like doing a toddler room better anyway.

  • @happyandhopeful3 thanks. We bought the crib as soon as we found out we were pregnant and the ladder was from our living room so it's amazing what a fresh coat of paint does!
  • We plan to paint one of those wall trees with shelves and will probably do that within the next week. We purchased a glider at a garage sale for a great price. We are also not making the space gender specific, will most likely buy toys, accessories, etc. once we find out the sex. Like many others mentioned, waiting for the showers so we are not double buying things. All in all, we hope to have a functional space by the end of December.

My SO and I will be starting to clear out and set up the extra bedroom we have as soon as his brother moves out in September. We have so much going on later on that if I had it my way, we would already be set up and ready. Our wedding is in late October so we'll be gone two weeks in November. Then baby shower, thanksgiving, Christmas, and then before you know it baby will be here. It's going all so fast.
  • I've got to get our oldest son off to college in august, then fix the leak in the roof where the crib is supposed to go, then maybe think about thinking about the nursery.
  • Just thought I'd share this in case you have a Dollar Tree nearby and are looking for wall decals. I found animal wall decals only $1 each! We plan to use them in the nursery. I tried to upload a photo, but it's not working :( they have owls, monkeys and jungle themed animal sets.
  • We painted the nursery a sea salt color for DD and accented with pink and gray accessories. We'll just replace the pink with navy blue (sheets, curtains, baskets).
I'm more excited to put together DD's toddler room bc we'll be starting from scratch
  • I want everything done before thanksgiving since I'm due the beginning of january and I don't want extra stuff on my plate between thanksgiving and Christmas. I'll start on it in September I think. I doubt I'll purchase anything before then, I definitely don't want to get much before the shower

    Oooo smart thinking!!!!!
  • His room will probably be done after he's here. I have no energy or will.

  • I finished cleaning out the room in July, we just painted today (found out it's a boy on Wednesday) and now we will gradually add things in. I would like to be done before Christmas and I think I probably will be. I tend to be the type that needs to cross things off the list once it has been made, so I am chomping at the bit already. We plan to get furniture at the end of the month and go from there!
