My backyard renovation is complete! Now we just need to do some planting, adding details to the deck & patio, and maybe staining all the fencing & deck to match. I am so pleased. I'm sad to say though the biggest work that was done is not even visible - all our horrible drainage issues that are now underground and no longer a problem!
Recap: The whole property was re-graded, underground drainage put in attaching to our home's downspouts, retaining wall installed in one area to level off the land and prevent a washout during rain, tree removed, all new mulch in the "dog area", fence/gate for the dog area installed, and all new sod. I am in love.

Re: Back yard before & after PsIP
It looks great! I love the dog area.
On a side note, I think we found a trainer. She is willing to come to the house (most turned me down for being too far away) and work with us. In the meantime we bought a gentle leader and a 5' leash and walks are going much more smoothly.
The downside is poop is not happening. At all. It has been 24 hours now. I think the problem is proximity. He likes his space to do his business (don't blame him a bit) but 5' plus some arm is all he gets.
Hopefully tomorrow at 4 am he will give up his fight and finally go.
Maybe if I save up for a little while he can come visit you (maybe his brother too) for a little refining.
Awesome! Just be patient on the pottying. He'll go eventually, no worries. It's always an adjustment.
Did you find the trainer from the NK9DTA website? I ask because of the gentle leader. Did they recommend this?
No. I haven't heard from them yet. It was actually recommended by my teacher and someone on the pets board to stop his pulling. It works really well for both dogs. One or two pulls, a no from me and they fall in line beside me or slightly in front for D. He trips me if he is beside me or behind me.

I am desparate for a fenced in area for the hounds. My H and I have had many conversations over this and we cannot agree other than the fact that we want something on our 23 acres for them....and I mean something safe, close to the house, and many other factors.
So far (and we've only had the "park" fenced off for 12 hours) it has been WONDERFUL. The dogs love it, do their business back there (which helps with clean-up so I don't have to search the whole yard a few times a week) and my sod is protected. I love having a separate area for dogs & humans.
