Can't decide between the 3!!

We have a boy name picked out already that we love!! But we have three girl names that we love but I can't decide which one I like more?

Calvary Belle
Calico Belle
Calico Sky (the fathers name is Sky)

I know they're different and out there names but please be respectful. We love these names and we don't want to change them.

  • Just wondering, how/why did you pick the possible first names?

  • We want something unique and different and we really love those names. They're pretty to us. I know not everyone agrees.. But they are to us.
  • Calvary is also religious to me as well, so I would pick Calico but that reminds of cats too.  I would like Calico better if you called her Cali for short, maybe?

  • Calvary belle
  • Maybe something else that starts with "Cal"? Calliope? Calista?

  • I like the middle names but the first names aren't my style- sorry.

  • @Twindling she posted this thread and now posted on the baby name threads as well. Her boy name is there.. I just can't remember what it was.
I just read it too. Sorry.
  • The grandpa is a preacher. She will grow up going to church so the religious part is relevant.
  • The boys name is Cross Abram. That's also religious.

Alice cooper named his daughter Calico. I think it's pretty. I know it's not everyone's taste but we love different, unique and out there names. The daddy's whole family all have unique names and we want to continue the trend.
  • We're not going back to the drawing board. We like the two names we chose. It's going to be one or the other. Our families like both names. I was hoping for more open minded responses.
  • Maybe just wait and see once the baby is born? I know some people like to have the name planned and ready to go but if you really love all the names equally, that might be your best option.

  • And I really don't want to name my daughter Calliope or Calista. Those names are not pretty to me, I'm sorry.
  • These names are NMS and my first thought was soldiers on horseback and my 2nd was that my BFF used to have a calico cat named Calli.

I love the middle names though! I also like PP suggestion of Calista.
  • And I really don't want to name my daughter Calliope or Calista. Those names are not pretty to me, I'm sorry.
The thing is though, they are actual names, where what you've chosen is a place and a pattern.
  • You can name your child anything. Calico actually is a real girls name. It might not be what everyone likes but it's a name. Google it! There's one website where there's responses that they love their own name. I'm not being disrespectful or anything. Just defending my point. If I want to name my daughter calico or Calvary, I'm going to. I love these names and that's all that matters. If she grows up to hate her name then she can change it to whatever she wants. But I'm not picking another name just because a lot of people are close minded.

A mothers privilege is to give her child a name. I'm going to name him or her whatever I want. I'm sorry if it isn't something you like.

Hope, Faith, Summer, August, May... Do those sound like names? No, they're not but people name their child those all the time and nobody complains.

  • I was going to say that Calvary was religious to me as well. We have a lot of Calvary churches in my area..I mean, to each their own I guess, just seems like a odd choice..

  • We are religious and the grandpa is a preacher. I have no problem admitting nor hiding that I'm religious. My daughters going to grow up religious as well. So that's not a negative thing.
  • Calico Sky is really unique and pretty!

Thank you! I agree and really appreciate the open mind!
  • Yeah, people really ignore the fact that it says "please be respectful" :(

That's fine. I was just trying to be helpful. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ isn't pretty to me. Pick Calico then.

  • If you love those names, then it's your choice! I think the 3rd choice sounds the best. I like the idea of using parents names as children's middle name.
  • I'm going to continue standing up for the names we chose because honestly I really don't care about the negative responses. They're not going to change my mind so please if anyone else comments on this post, please be respectful. I'm a first time mommy and I'm so excited to be a mom! I'm excited to find out if it's a boy or girl. I'm excited every time I feel little flutters that are probably has but there's still a chance it could be the baby moving. I'm excited to name my child whatever I want! I'm very excited to have my own little human to care for!!!

I said in the original post that I love these names. Please don't post anymore about saying it's too religious, sounds like a cat. I don't care! WE LOVE THESE NAMES AND THINK THEY ARE PRETTY FOR A LITTLE GIRL! I've read so many horrible name choices in the "what will u name ur baby" post and I didn't put one negative comment. If that's what people want to name their child, go for it!

Yes no one is being disrespectful. When you post names to any board people will give their honest opinion whether you ask for it or not. It's like saying "i like the name Stalin but please respect my choice to name my kid that, we really like it!"

Look... Not everyone likes these names. People are just being honest in their opinions. You don't want us to lie do you? I really loved the name Stryker but everyone shut it down fast. I was bummed but not offended. I don't want my kid having a name he'll be teased with. If you don't like or care about others opinions, just choose what you love. It's your child.

Yeah, people really ignore the fact that it says "please be respectful" :(

Disagreeing with your opinion is not disrespectful.  Everyone gave their opinion respectfully.  Nobody said your names were horrible or that they hated them.

  • That's not the reason I want to name my child calico. I didn't even know until I searched the name.

My husbands dad actually knew a girl named calico from his class a long time ago and they never spoke or anything and moved away. 60 years later his sister ran into a girl on a plain named calico and he remembered her just from her name.

There's nothing negative about either of the names. I'm sorry y'all disagree. And if people want to talk bad about it behind my bad then so be it. I'm not one to care what people think. Our families love both of the names and that's all that matters. I only posted on here hoping there would be a few open minded people that could help the decision.

Thank you to the few that didn't tell me to chose something else when I stated clearly that I do love these names and will not chose anything else. That means a lot. So thank you.
