  • With my first I had a major aversion to greens, veggies, fresh fruit and red meat. I am loading up on these while I can in these early days. Avocado, eggs, spinach and sweet potatoes galore! Fruit tastes amazing right now too.
  • Oranges...can't get enough!
  • Avocado, eggs, sweet potatoes, spinach and yogurt!
  • Spinach and eggs. I normally do not like eggs but every time I am pregnant I crave them. I also add Breakstone's cottage cheese on the side. This has been a few meals so far this week.

My husband is obviously the first person I told we were expecting! But 3 days later I spilt the beans to my mom; she was thrilled! My mom is an obgyn, so she is very helpful. Plenty of water (obviously), but eggs, avocados, and a lot of fruits and veggies. She said expecially oranges. I mentioned I eat bananas every day, she said that was fine, but eat smaller bananas.

The only thing I can think of is sugar content but seriously bananas are awesome and nutrient packed.  And a great vehicle for peanut butter.

  • I don't know if this is right but perhaps it has to do with bananas "backing you up". We limit them when my toddler hasn't had a bm in a couple days. Not going when pregnant can't be fun.

    Could be wrong though
  • I can't do too much yogart or beans but the rest have always been huge staples in my diet. I like to eat a power greens salad and sauteed kale with chicken sausage.

  • I am on a meat and plain carbs kick... I am trying to still get in a couple of vegetables and apparently I have gone from hating bananas to loving them.  So my intestines start revolting I will eat away!

  • Don't forget to eat salmon twice a week girls! And avoid other fishes like sea bass mahi mahi sword and tuna because of high levels of mercury it can harm your baby.. I read a lot about this at the net and just asked my doc and she confirmed it:)

Eggs, spinach, blueberries and avocados! I didn't know oranges got such a high rating, interesting.

For the past two weeks all I wanted was oatmeal for breakfast and salad for lunch and now, I can't stand the look or smell of either. I am trying to stay on the healthy side but honestly, nothing is sounding good these past couple of days. Something might sound good one minute and then not the next. I am at a loss because I want to provide my baby with the best environment. Here is hoping this will pass and I crave veggies again!
I am currently enjoying eggs, avocado, and nuts. :)

Yup but only after a day or two without any BMs...:( The worst. And that soup sounds amazing right now!

  • It was delish... Way better than the canned version :) My stomach has been upset all day today and a couple of other times since finding out I'm pregnant. Soup was the only thing that sounded good and that I've been able to keep in so far (not nausea, but the other). Glad I'm not the only one! Other days, I've been completely ravenous... At least I wasn't sick while at the beach last week.

I've been a mix too. One day normal the next is awful. I have constant lingering nausea and a few headaches too. I had a girl the first time and I don't trek ember few liking like this so early with her. I also had other symptoms with her I haven't had yet like terrible acne on my chest back and face as well as canker sores in my mouth.

I am also down for the count by 7 every night!
  • Every morning when I go to eat breakfast I take a few bites and have to run to the bathroom because of the big D :(
Sour stomach but I'm 7 weeks and haven't thrown up yet! Fingers crossed!
  • Dealing with that now
  • Any tips on eating healthy when you are not a huge fan of veggies or most fruits?
  • Oh my goodness. Having tummy troubles myself!

LookA like everyone is on track - my diet hasn't changed much but plenty of advocados, an egg a day, spinach and sweet potato - remember how much natural sugar though is contained in fruit, one banana a day is enough and it's always better to eat the fruits ( with its fiber ) than to make it into a juice or smoothie ! I've been really tired and bloated for about a week now, I'm drinking hot water, organic lemon slices, ginger and unfiltered raw honey which is proving to do wonders now Pepto is out of the question, kevita probiotic sparkling drink is great too - good luck ladies !!

@BookChick If you're not a huge fan of veggies, try adding them into foods you do like! Add some spinach into a turkey meatball recipe, throw some fresh veg into a whole wheat pasta/brown rice etc. Good luck!
  • Has anyone heard of bump booster or milk maker lactation cookies? I signed up to get their email but wanted someone who had actually tried them- they sound awesome :)

I haven't tried the ones you buy but I've made my own lactation cookies.  They're delicious.

We've got lots of amazing lactation cookie recipes floating around - I love making them and having an excuse to eat them. I have tried the MilkMaker cookies bc our lactation office at the hospital sells them. They are pretty great, but imho nothing beats homemade!

  • I'll I can seem to stomach these days is salads (lettuce, cheese, egg, peas, carrots and cucumber) with ranch on the side. Or just hard boiled eggs, I hate eggs generally and I don't want them any other way! So weird to me. Right now I could use a jamba smoothie as now all of a sudden nausea has hit me hard this week! They have a citrus kick drink with ginger, orange, Apple and pineapple that is to die for and I hate the taste of ginger too.

@bookchick I confess to slathering everything in ketchup when I have a hard time stomaching veggies in the first tri. A quesadilla chock full of spinach and grilled veggies with enough cheese to hold it together can be a great way to eat them at dinner. Or I second the smoothie mentions. Jessica Seinfeld's first book was all about hiding veggies in kid's food (like adding squash puree into Mac and Cheese) and that might be worth looking at too!
  • Oatmeal. I eat oatmeal every morning and it is amaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.
    Due March 2016 :)

  • Strawberries, sweet potatoes, steak, eggs, orange juice. I'm also on a crazy Panera soup kick. They have a lemon chicken orzo soup that I've had 4 times in the last week! I'm having some nausea but not too too bad so I'm still managing to find some healthy eats I want
  • Been eating blueberries and raspberries by the trough!
  • Bananas take a while to digest that's why they're good for energy as they release potassium but it digestive system takes a bit to digest and while ur pregnant ur digestive system slows down more and they could cause stomach ache
