It's so good to see fellow runners on here! I'm a half marathon runner (guess that means I'm only half crazy...), and I'm still running at 7 weeks. I just turned my pace down to where I could still carry on a conversation if I wanted to, and I've dialed my mileage back from 3 miles/day to 1 mile/day. So far, so good...
Also a runner over here as well. My doctor has strongly recommended to me that he doesn't want me running a half marathon that I already signed up to do in October. He has said that I can keep my long runs between 10-15km - as long as I'm feeling good and can hold a conversation if I had to. I switched my race distance to 5k instead of the half, which I'm OK with. Usually in August there is this marathon I like doing and we this year with dates I didn't sign up due to a conflict and only the 10K. At least I can run the 10K! When I run the 10K race I'll be 8w and 4d. Living in Canada makes the weather part not too bad except it's been crazy hot here this week....
So glad to see other runners here! I was running 30-40 miles a week before we started TTC. I cut back significantly as I felt it was contributing to my difficulty getting pregnant. I'm looking forward to navigating the world of running pregnant! So far, I've been managing 3 miles, 3-4 days a week at a greatly slowed pace and it's been wonderful so far. I live in Florida so I've also been trying to keep my runs restricted to the (slightly) cooler mornings. We just found out that we are expecting identical twins (both babies in one sac) yesterday which will place me in the high risk category. While the doctor said it's fine to keep running at this point, I'm mentally prepared for a truncated pregnant running career. I will be co-managed by my OB and a high-risk doctor so I will be interested to hear their perspectives and listen closely to my body as well. I had already signed up for two early 2016 races (one of which is a half marathon) that are almost definitely not happening now. Glad I had the forethought to purchase the race entry insurance on the half!
@meredithroberts66 I totally agree the most important thing is to not stop entirely! It's impossible to get started again. Even if you have to scale back on days you're not up to it still better to do a little bit and you'll be glad you kept it up at the end!
