  • I think I've seen this with other women who have been in your situation with a seemingly apathetic SO during pregnancy. Men don't generally go bananas like we do, we're the ones who really experience everything from the beginning where they are just kind of on the sidelines until the baby comes. I think the big thing to consider is how he is as a parent to DD. if he's a loving father, is there anything else better in this world? I would give myself some breathing room before I mentioned it that I was hoping he would be excited about seeing the baby. As long as he's not doing anything purposefully hurtful, I would just mention it and not explode at him.

I think it's very sweet how excited your DD is too :)

  • Mine is the same way. I'm hoping he jumps on the band wagon when he can start helping me pick out names and feel baby kicks. If we find out that it's not a boy, then I don't know that he'll be excited at all. Sigh.. boys.

Lots of posts on this and I agree with the PPs, I think it's more real / exciting for the men later. My husband is obsessed with his family's dog so I jokingly asked him if he will love the baby or the dog more and he said "I'll love them differently." My mother-in-law gave him the dirtiest look, but I think it will all be different when he actually sees and holds the baby! Don't worry!!!!
