As a first time mom, I'm already thinking about my registry although I'm not going to actually do it until I find out the gender in 4 weeks. I've checked out Babies R Us, Buy Buy Baby, Target and Amazon options plus an adorable local store here in RI. I'm overwhelmed by all the options and wanted to get opinions from those who have already registered. Thanks!

Note: I have such crap jet lag all the time that I'm waking up at 4 am and just play with my registry. I know it's early but whatever!! Also, half the stuff we will probably buy - not expecting friends/family to buy us a crib! It's really just a nice place to organize all the items you want in general....
How do you add the used items?
Won't know if it's a boy or girl for a few more weeks but we have the basics like car seat, stroller, crib, bath stuff, and some gray/white/green clothes. I'm not big on the car seat needing to be pink with flowers if it's a girl or whatever so I just picked the stuff with the best safety rating and reviews from users.

I'm also doing my baby registry before we find out the sex. As a FTM we need all of the big essentials, so I don't want a ton of cute outfits that'll be worn once. Even though they're fun. Not knowing the sex myself, will also help me stick to my minimalist list too! 8)
Target is horrible because....
1. They do not keep anything in stock very long. Maybe some big items, but I found that I would register for something and then a few weeks later I would get notifications that half my registry was out of stock. They also don't usually restock specific items so once it's gone it's gone. So for people like me who wanted to register early and saw things I liked it was a bust. By the time anyone was going to buy me something it was out of stock.
So here is my suggestion, if you want to register at target do it at the last possible minute. That way there is a better chance of the stuff you want actually being there.
2. They are the worst with taking things off the registry after they are purchased. I can't tell you how many duplicates I got of stuff from target bc it wasn't taken of the registry.
Now with all that said their returns were easy so while I got a lot of duplicates I easily returned for store credit.
I registered at BRU also and didn't have any out of stock problems, granted some of the stuff there is more expensive then target. I did have issues with the delivery of my nursery furniture but I got it eventually, and long before baby got here.
I wish I would have registered at BBB. But since I didn't I can't say much about them at all.
