DH and I live in a decent sized apartment, but an apartment nonetheless. We currently have a full living room, sectional w/chaise and a pull out love seat. There is no space for additional seating and the nursery is too small to accommodate a glider. I am considering giving away the love seat to replace it with a glider/recliner. If I'm going to do this I want a long standing piece of furniture that will look good in a relatively contemporary living room. I am fine looking outside of the realm of typical gliders, and in fact would prefer that.
Priorities are: Comfort, I want something that is easy to get in and out of esp. if I end up needing a C-section, styling, and price (up to $700 is fine but less is better).
Please suggest away and if you would like to share real life pics of how your gliders have held up please do! Thank you!

We had a rocker/recliner for DS and will move it into the new baby's room when we finish it. It was way more comfortable than a glider, which was good because we often slept in it! Even when he got older, it was a lifesaver on nights he was sick (that first year or two is ROUGH!). It's the only way any of us got any sleep.
We draped it with a quilt, blanket, or sheet to protect it. It was way easier to take it off, throw it in the laundry basket, put a fresh one on, and deal with the pukey one later. The last thing you want to do when exhausted and dealing w/ a sick baby or toddler is to bust out the cleaner and start scrubbing. You may want to consider it. It's not the prettiest, but it works. You could go fancy and match the color to the room, but we just used stuff we already had.

Your comment in the original post about potential c/s struck me. The first week or so that I was recovering from mine, our recliner was by far the easiest to get in and out of, as well as for naps. Didn't have to use my abs hardly at all to change positions in ours. I hope you don't end up with a c/s but if you do the recliner will be very handy. Sounds like it will be anyway though!
