Never tried colostrum. I never directly and deliberately drank my breast milk. However I made baby food with it and had a taste of that to check temp or show the kids to eat it etc. So I've had it in that sense. I've also just licked a drop off my arm or baby or whatever if I didn't have a burp cloth handy. It's whatever.
After I had DD me and DH were having sexy time. He knew not to stimulate my breasts. However, what we did not know is that orgasms can make milk spray out like a freaking fountain! That was crazy. We both just cracked up. I mean it got on the walls and ceiling and everywhere hahaha. After that I always kept a bra and breast pads on when we did it lol.
My husband has tried my breast milk, he said it is very sweet but good. Wait until you let down while in the shower or while having sex. If you dont want a mess, keep your nursing bra and breast pads on during sex. At least four the first coupe months
I am trying to keep that liquid gold reserved for little man so I don't squeeze to manipulate it to come out.
According to my lactation consultant who taught our breastfeeding class, your colostrum will regenerate. It's not like you have a limited amount and that's it. You won't start getting milk until after the birth either way, so it's not going to suddenly stop being colostrum and turn into breast milk.
She actually recommended squeezing out a little each day to help start upping the amount of colostrum you produce. Also, she said that, starting at 38 weeks, you can pump for up to 5 minutes a day to try to get some out to freeze and bring to the hospital in case your baby has any complications and can't nurse, then they have it right there to use. She said that could help improve the supply as well. Not before 38 weeks or longer than 5 minutes though because you don't want to overstimulate your nipples and start labor.
I tried little bits of breast milk as I made DS's cereal with it or whatever. I would totally take a sip but I always had production issues, so I wanted as much as possible to go to him. DH tried a little, and I actually have a few very close girlfriends who tried a few drops as they helped me clean up pump parts.
I'll admit that this post made me try to squeeze something out. No dice. Probably not a great sign of better production this time, but I expected that...
I have tried it. One time when a bit spilled I licked a drop without thinking trying to get things done. After realizing what I did I wont lie, I was a bit freaked out but didn't care too much. It's just sweet milk.
I had a friend who would cook for her family using breastmilk. Now, that is odd.... Needless to say I didn't eat at her house lol.
EDIT to say I won't be trying colostrum though. Not at all interested.
I guess I am just as curious as you. Lol I've done the same thing, and I'll probably try my breast milk too. Why would you not be willing to try something but you're willing to feed it to your baby?
