I had lime and mint water last night. The whole time I was drinking it, I was wishing it was a mojito.

We had pot roast in the crock pot last night and we make it with a mix of wine and water. There was about a glass and a half of wine left in the bottle and I really wanted to drink it. I think once I am well into the second trimester if there is a wine or a beer I want to try I will let myself have a sip or 2. Not a full drink, but just get the taste.

I totally had an egg mcmuffin yesterday. I had 30 minutes to kill between dropping the kids off and an appt. It was delicious!

The McD's around here just started serving breakfast all day. I don't think it's the full menu. Not sure on specifics.

  • My five year old will have watched a ridiculous amount of TV between yesterday and today. We just moved this week, still unpacking everything and I work from home. Next week will be better once I have everything unpacked this weekend. I just needed some quiet reprieve to get things done.

  • I am a huge car seat safety/extended rear facing advocate... mainly just to make sure mamas are educated on it and they can make their own decisions. You know, the norm. However, my 21 month old is still rear facing and I am contemplating turning him around before I originally planned too (Between Oct-Jan originally) Mainly because he has gotten so fussy during car rides, its actually very consistent and aggravating and I wonder if turning him around will help. Also, we are leaving for the beach next Monday 7/27 and its an 8 hour drive. I selfishly want to turn him around for that so he can see everyone and the DVD player. Tell me Im bad

I often will take big mouthfuls of someone's drink, absorb the flavor in my mouth, and then spit it out (in the sink) as if I were doing a wine tasting. I thought it wasn't going to sate my desire in any way, but it really does without really consuming any alcohol (I guess maybe a tiny bit might get absorbed into your cheeks or something like that). My BF has joked about getting me a spittoon.
  • Not judging anyone who turns their child around sooner, but before you do, I would just make sure you know the laws.  They recently changed in my state, and children MUST remain rear facing until either two years of age or 30 pounds.  I would have had no idea had I not seen an article about it posted to facebook.  Again, not trying to preach, just don't want to see anyone with unnecessary fines or worse, their kid taken away.  (Which can also happen in my state - for 24 hours - if a child is not properly in their car seat.)

We had the same issue. DS was happy to RF for a long time. He was so easy going. DD was a nightmare in the car from birth. It got to the point that is was so distracting as a driver and I was seriously worried I would get into an accident. We had a trip planned and I was having such anxiety about even going. We ended up turning her at 20 months and I never looked back.

  • @Wurrkingurrl it's the same laws in my state as well :) thankfully he was 35lbs at the time so no laws were broken!
  • I'm so nervous to add another LO to our family and one of the first reasons that comes to mind is sleep schedules. My 21 month old sleeps til about 8:30/9am everyday and I'm so grateful (espeically now) but scared what kind of sleep schedule the next LO will develop. I know of so many people who's LO's get up super early and I selfishly love my quiet early mornings.

I totally agree. Thats my whole thing is to know your laws and educate yourself on reasons WHY extended rear facing is best. Parents make their own choices per their own family, because every situation is different. I try not to judge, I just think everyone should know and make an educated decision.

Yeah I actually saw on IG that a friend had turned her son around WAY before 12 months and I actually direct messaged her and was nice as possible about it. She took it very well. I sent her a few links and told her that I would rather say something than not, god forbid she have a car wreck. She states she honestly had no idea, she thought since he was a certain weight she could turn him around. I was like no no no no. I am unsure whether or not she turned him back around but at least I know I did my best on trying to educate her.

It's unfortunate when people know all the reasons and whatnot, but then still think that they are an exception to science or statistics. Or just refuse to learn or acknowledge the truth. Not just about RF vs FF, but about everything in general.

We've turned our LO around within the last month or so and she's almost 22 months. We had similar issues with unhappy car rides, which made driving very unsafe because of how distracted we were and figured its just as unsafe or even worse if you can't concentrate on the road the way you should. We actually didn't "intentionally" turn her around, it just kind of worked out that way when one time we were out and about and LO threw up all over her carseat, you know like in every freaking crevice (ewww). We called my parents that lived close by to come give us their carseat, which is different from ours and DH had a very difficult time trying to install it rear facing so we just said the heck with it, we need to get LO home. I felt guilty the whole way home but honestly she had never been happier in the car so we just stuck with it.

I was pleased to see a big sign in my pediatrician's office yesterday about car seat laws. I think a lot of people just don't know. In FL it's still RF until 1 but their pushing RF until 2 really hard. I fully expect the law to change soon. I'm praying this baby is more chill than DD. Love her to pieces, but she's a bit of a drama llama.

I was a big advocate of extended rear facing and I hope to do it with this baby. With my daughter, hubby and I turned her as soon as she reached the legal weight limit. She got terribly carsick. She threw up AT LEAST once per trip just going to the grocery store, usually more. I tried everything but once we turned her around she did so much better. Now she only get sick on really long road trips and frequent stops help avoid it.

Agreed 100% but at that point, what do you do? Its bad choices or just plain not caring and thats really really sad. I always try to educate in a non direct way... blog, social media because mainly people just dont know the laws or why extended rear facing is so much safer. I havnt come in contact with anyone directly that knew the pros and just said screw it though I have seen in indirectly plenty of times.

I actually had 2 or 3 drinks towards the end of my pregnancy last time - they were those little mini bottles of wine from a local grocery store. It was only one drink per sitting but I had at least 2, maybe 3 total in my 3rd tri. last time. My son is 100% healthy and was 2 days overdue.

Probably going to be totally judged for that - but I think moderation is key, really.
I think having 2 or 3 drinks during the duration of pregnancy is totally acceptable. And that the notion that a sip of beer or wine is going to cause damage to your baby is crazy.

Thank you, I agree! I actually am not planning on having any drinks this time around though, I gave up drinking in order to lose weight right before we found out I was pregnant with number 2 - I totally don't judge a pregnant woman for having an occasional drink or anything like coffee, deli meat, etc. either for that matter.

I turned my son to forward facing at 13 months and I have no regrets. He was a terrible car seat baby and would scream non-stop while rear facing. Turning him around was the magic needed. I'm sure I'll get some flames for this but I think at a certain point all safety regulations are a bit extreme. @britsknits11 how on earth did you manage to have a 35lb 13 month old? Wowza! My twins are in the 90th percentile at 2yrs and 32lbs.

@Twindling He's the stockiest kid! And we have no idea where he's getting his size from lol. His doctor is pretty shocked every time she weighs him. DH and I are both small. My husband is only 5'5" and I am 5'2" but our son is off his charts in both height and weight. He doesn't look fat and doc says he's super healthy just a very dense kid lol

I also do cereal earlier, I think DS was 3 months and DD was 4 or 5.  Breast milk was not cutting it and they would literally nurse all day long.  They just needed more.  I also gave my children mashed potatoes, mushed up meat, etc, early when we started baby food.

I agree. We did cereal early with the first bc "thats what you were suppose to do" so we put it in his formula bottles. The more it came out that its really not needed, has no nutritional value and isn't easily digested we never did with the second. He nursed a lot but thats what breasted babies do and it helps with the milk supply. I never minded.
