Hi to all,
I'm new here, and have been lurking on and off for a while. I think after searching the boards that this is the most appropriate community for me at this time. A little background: I've been TTC with my husband for 2 years. We got pregnant very quickly after stopping BCP 2 years ago, followed by a pretty immediate MC, then another preg, and a later, more devastating MMC (12 wks) requiring D&C. Despite many normal tests for both of us, (HSG, SA, regular periods OPK), we have unexplained infertility since the D&C. We've done clomid for 5 months (with a break in between at direction of my OB/GYN), still without pregnancy. I am hoping this board is a place of learning for me in terms of learning to advocate for myself as a patient and just interact with some knowledgeable and caring ladies that can truly understand. Any insight or positive thoughts are appreciated.
Re: Introduction (warning loss/previous preg mentioned)
If you can get referred right away without doing any tests first, that's probably good (why waste time?)We ended up having to redo everything at/after our first appointment (11 vials of blood plus 2 US, plus a whole cycle of monitoring with BW and US, HSG and 3D US). What matters is that you feel like they 'get' you: you know your body, and it something doesn't feel quite right, say it. Good luck!
I'm new to this board but I agree with everyone else. You need to see an RE as soon as you can. I have endo so having a baby on my own is slim to none. I had to have help with my first child (surgery) who is 7 now and haven't been able to get pregnant again. I have been seeing an RE this year and he and his team have just opened this whole new world to me and really gotten me on the fast track to conception. My OB referred me to my RE but I know some OB's are hesitant to refer because they think they can fix it. I am blessed because mine said I have done all I can to help you and it's time to see someone else. My RE nurse told me that a lot of OB's have a hard time letting a patient go to someone else. I don't know if that's because they think they can do it or what. I'm sure it's with the best of intent but after one year of trying then there is possibly a problem. If your OB is hesitant to refer you to someone (kind of sounded like he was) then get on the web and find one yourself. I have to travel 4 hours to mine but thankfully I can be monitored in my city at my OB's office. Be active in your fertility journey. You are the one that controls the shots. We get so little control in this because our bodies are fighting against us but this you have control over. You call the shots and if you feel like it's time then that means it is time. I'm so thankful I went and have become very proactive in my journey. I'm hopeful for you, that you find the desires of your heart.
