Powerful Eats for You and Baby

We hear a lot of chatter about what foods to avoid while pregnant, but not nearly as much about the foods to seek out.

Check out our list of nutrient-packed eats to keep you and baby healthy throughout pregnancy. Which of your favorite foods made the list?

Re: Powerful Eats for You and Baby

  • Eggs are one of my favorites!! I eat 3 scrambled with 2 slices of toast regularly for breakfast and sweet potatoes and salmon are one of my favorites for dinner! I had it just last night and could eat a sweet potato every day!!

  • I eat everything but lean meats (I'm a pescetarian so bring on the salmon!) and OJ is a bit of a waste of sugar for me, but I add a splash of it to my green smoothies. Do I get a gold star?
  • Everything except yogurt and lean meat !

Everything except beans and lentils- I forget to cook with them (except when I'm ordering at Chipotle) . Anyone have favorite recipes?
  • Eggs are the only thing that I can't eat! The thought of or smell of them make me nauseous. It's a bummer because I normally love eggs.

All of those things except for the salmon, can't stand the stuff. Also fish has been making me queasy in general lately. Too bad andy caps hot fries isn't on there :-(
  • Almonds are my go too snack. We sell cinnamon coated one's at work and I'm always munching on them.

I love almonds, too!  Lightly salted are great just to pop a few, but I love getting a bag of warm roasted cinnamon ones during the winter.
  • Eggs, yogurt and oatmeal have been staples for me.  Really anything on the list except nuts - my son has a severe nut allergy.

  • Greek yogurt is one of my staples! Also, I was struggling to find a way to make veggie snacks more appealing- I bought a packet of ranch dressing powder mix, and mixed it with plain, non-fat greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It's delicious! Protein + veggies = perfect work snack!

Tell me more about these cinnamon coated almonds you speak of...

I eat everything on the list except for the sweet potatoes. Just could never stomach them. My favorites are eggs, kale, yogurt, beans, and almonds.
  • I never liked sweet potatoes but now I can't get enough of them!!! GIVE ME ALL THE SWEET POTATOES!!!

Same here! I used to love both! I find myself forcing meat down my throat just go get some protein and iron.Seems my baby wants me to be a vegetarian :-/
. My main sources of protein now are beans and eggs..and beans leave me bloated and uncomfortable..
  • I haven't been able to eat meat in 36 weeks now. For some reason the baby is fine with sausage, lunch meat and pepperoni, all things I'm not supposed to have. Other than that I'm doing pretty good against the list. Of course as soon as the baby comes I'm getting KFC. Is it wrong to admit that on the healthy eating chat string?
