We cant decide what to do! This is our first. We were going to wait because waiting seems like so much fun, and most of our family does not want to know. But recently I started to change my mind because I have totally different ideas for the Nursery and furniture colour if its a boy vs. a girl. What to do?
Hi I'm new to the group & this is my first post here! I have a 6 yr old girl & am currently 10 wks 3 days Husband, daughter, & I are SO excited - we've been waiting on this baby for a very long time My question is about this early testing if you guys don't mind...I am 36 so considered high risk because of advanced maternal age & also I miscarried last pregnancy So I'm going to my first high-risk dr appt in 1 week (had 3 reg OB appts already though) & I had no idea they could test that early for gender through bloodwork. My referral sheet says "advanced maternal age, genetic counseling" Does this sound to you all like I will have this early testing done then? I will be just a few days past 11 weeks at the time. Sorry so long!
@OurRainbow I think the cell free DNA test is standard for AMA patients. That test looks for chromosomal abnormalities and can also tell you the sex if you want to know it. Congrats on your pregnancy!
Thank you so much @emzie54! I had thought I'd be waiting until they could determine through the ultrasound several weeks later. What a relief that we can find this out much sooner than expected! Thanks for your help!
I am 99% sure i'm having a girl, when I went for IPS testing at 13 weeks they said it was too early, I have another ultrasound booked for 15 weeks ( the second part of ips) I am hoping to find out then. I have definitely considered the 4D ultrasound, if we weren't such a new/young family and had money to throw around I would 100% go for it. My sister got it done and said the baby looked IDENTICAL to when she got the 4D testing--- huge lips and all! So that is a fun idea, if it works in your budget
Just got the news! We have a healthy baby in there and it's another girl! Hearing the sex really made it real... and I cried. Allll the emotions over here.
We have 2 girls and found out gender with both. This time will be a surprise. I need some extra motivation to get me through labour and delivery! We just very surprised to be having this little one so keep the suprises coming!
We KNEW we had a boy the first time. In fact, they told us we had a girl at 12 weeks (via ultrasound) and we didn't believe it. Found out at the 20-week ultrasound that we did indeed have a boy!
This time, I felt so strongly it was a girl. Hubs and son were both team blue. Just got the blood test results, and it's for sure a BOY in there! I can't believe I was wrong! I felt so sure!
We're crazy excited though. Brothers! Bunk beds! Soccer games! Hand me downs! Haha
I am so Jealous!! My blood work for Quad testing is not until 18 weeks!! I will have an ultrasound that day as well and should find out the sex!! That will be August 12th! I have an option to get an Ultrasound at 17 weeks (August 5th) I had convinced myself no I would wait but then my really good friend told me she's finding out the sex of her baby August 5th so now I want to pay for the earlier U/S!! Oh what to do!! I want to know so bad!!
At the 12 week scan, the tech felt fairly confident we were having a boy. That being said, they were very clear about the importance of waiting for the anatomy scan to make an "on the record" announcement.
We are having a little boy. We found out in at our NT scan. Also feeling good about the negative results for Down's syndrome and the other trisomy abnormalities.
I love hearing about what you all are having! I am surprised at the number of ladies on here being Team Green as well!!! I personally wanted to be Team Green but my SO just *has* to find out. He is more impatient than I am!!!!! LOL I did the cell free DNA test the other day... get my results in 2 weeks. I guess I am giving into my SO's desires lol
I had an NT scan done yesterday at 13 weeks and the tech said it's early but I can tell you that there is nothing protruding between the legs.... So we're hoping that she is really a she. Anatomy scan isn't until the end of August. Might do a 3d scan before then because we just can't wait
We are having a BOY! Which is just perfect! Hubby has 3 girls and I have a boy. This is ours together and just perfect! The the chromosome abnormality test since I'm over 40! All is healthy and perfect!
Yes. Ask for the genetic blood test. Harmony is one of several test "brands". Insurance should cover you due to age. I'm 35, and we get our results back on Tuesday (I'll be 13 weeks 6 days then). Good luck to you!
Today is maybe the day!! My Doctors office called to discuss the lab results....but when I call back they are unavailable (with another patient) and told me to be patient. Sheesh don't they know that's impossible now?? (

@kkfl2m+b ugh I'd be so nervous! My vampire doctors stole my blood on Thursday, lol, and the nurse said she might call sooner with just gender results, but that it would be within a week...so of course now every time the phone rings I get nervous and excited, even though it will likely be 3-4 more days.
