Re: Tuesday Check In

  • What's new with baby (size, development): Says its a sweet pea... which to me is a flower... so hmmmmm

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I failed at cleaning yesterday (3 hour nap, ate dinner, played on the bump then went to bed at 10pm)...but my baby cousin (read 23 years old and in med school- but I baby sat her so she is a baby) is coming Thurs afternoon so I will spic and span the house by then

Rant/rave/symptoms: I have had very little in the way of symptoms so I peed on a wondfo yesterday.. def still positive but not strong (but then again I tried to do it midstream and prob sucked- will try with a cup today)... I am also well aware this is crazy but I have not had any type of blood draw and scheduled a private US for this Friday before my in house consultation with my midwife on Monday AM.

Questions for the Group: Are there any other GF peeps on here?  If so what are you snacking on because I am getting sick of my Nakd bars but they carry so easily!

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO:  Thai take away, Binge watching something (Battlestar, OINTB etc).. prior to getting KU we would finish dinner with a sampling of Whisky ( we have 15+ single malts and many blends)

  • But you're doing such a great job, @ACleanLife

    Week: 4w1d

What's new with baby (size, development): Poppyseed - I'm so over this. I want an apple seed now!

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: getting the results of my bloodwork today. Also, someone who borrowed a lot of my pregnancy clothes is coming over. I may or may not have subtly asked her if she by any chance had this pair of pants I missed. She took the hint and is bringing me some stuff of hers tonight.

Rant/rave/symptoms: Fatigue kicked in. This may have to do with the fact that I slept very badly since my BFP and with the heat. At least the heat is finally leaving.

Questions for the Group: none, again.

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: I really want to go for dinner at a new place I went to with friends, and then maybe go for one or two (non-alcholic) drinks afterwards. In fact, I planned to do so yesterday for our anniversary, I had the babysitter lined up and all. But with both him and DD being sick, our plans fell through.

  • Oh I forgot my question!

WWYD- My parents and DH parents are coming together for a trans-atlantic meeting and dinner and we are going to tell them then (with a toast from a bottle of champagne from our wedding and I bought them both classic nursery rhyme books to "study" to open as a gift)

I am very close with my family and bajillion cousins.. two of which are travelling to Europe and I will see in the next week (before parents).  Both will involve events where I wont be drinking.  I am tempted to tell them in person and have them keep it a secret as 1) I wont see them again in person until Nov/Dec and 2) Both will still be travelling and wont get home to the rest of the family until the grandparents know.  Thoughts?

  • @ACleanLife24 you should definitely tell them in person if you think they can keep the secret!

@chickendancefever I am so sorry- prayers for you!

    Week: 5 w, 3 d

    What's new?: Appleseed

What am I doing? Made my first prenatal appt yesterday for 9 weeks- they said it will just be history and bloodwork. How do all these women get early ultrasounds or hear the heartbeat at 6 weeks?! Jealous.

Rants/raves/symptoms: still just sore boobs. Had some weird side aches yesterday but they went away.

Questions: can't think of any right now

Gtky: right now we're into golf so I think we would spend the afternoon golfing and then grill burgers and sit on the deck followed by ice cream and Netflix!

    BFP #4: January 2017, EDD 9/26/2017
  • @ACleanLife - I'd totally tell them. But hey, I told my sister before 4 weeks, just because I won't see her again before september. Telling someone in person is so much nicer! We'll be telling the parents and his sisters at 6 weeks, before the first u/s, at DD's birthday. We don't have everyone in the same room more than once or twice a year.

My rule of thumb is "only tell people you'd be comfortable telling about a miscarriage". Since my heart is on my sleeve, that includes a whole lot of people for me.

    Week: 5w6d

What's new with baby (size, development): Still in there

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I've already bought maternity clothes - yes, I know I'm nuts, but they were on sale!!

Rant/rave/symptoms: Nothing - my boobs hurt occasionally and very minor cramping.  I know I should be counting my lucky stars, but it still worries me to not feel anything!

    Questions for the Group:

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: I love to just got out to dinner - or to a winery (but that won't be happening for a while!).

  • 4w 4 days

    Still a poppyseed

SO and I are going to look at a house that could hopefully be our first home! (We rent now but I am so done with renting!).

Nausea. Like no tomorrow. But I'm glad to have symptoms this time around. I know it doesn't really mean anything but it helps for sure to ease my mind a bit.

    No questions...

My ideal date night would probably be minecraft til we pass out hopefully beating the game! (Or call of duty, battlefeild, halo, or GTA...just video games really)

I will for sure! From what I've seen I totally love the place the only problem I have (again so far) is it has no fenced in back yard...but that can be fixed since it has plenty of space to put one.

What's new with baby (size, development): Appleseed

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: I am starting to think about it we will get the baby a new crib and keep DS in his convertible toddler bed or if we will get DS a new toddler bed and put his crib back together. I'm also starting to think about how I will arrange DS's new room (baby will take his current one) and what the theme will be.

Rant/rave/symptoms: still extremely tired but fighting through it so DH and I can spend time together once DS goes to bed.

    Questions for the Group: none

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: it's lame but just going out to dinner with DH. I love going out as a family but it's so nice to go out with just DH and not have to help DS with his food or entertain him.

Questions for the Group: Where do you find the fruit/vegetable comparisons? (You know - this week, the baby is a poppyseed, eggplant, watermelon, etc.)This is my third baby, but I can't remember. Is it from babycenter or does the Bump have its own list?

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Checking into our insurance!

Rant/rave/symptoms: Last night around 4:30, I woke up with all over lower back pain.  It felt exactly like the kind of back pain I used to get before my period.  No spotting or bleeding, and the back pain went away after a few minutes, but it was enough to wake me up and now I'm nervous. We leave on a trip tomorrow and I'm terrified of getting this pain or having some sort of complication while we're away.

Questions for the Group:  Anyone else feeling back pain?

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO:  We have a favorite pizza restaurant we go to almost every Wednesday.  It's something fun to look forward to during the work week :)

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: just hoping it's real at this point, and since we just moved to a new area, I need to start researching a new doctor and hospital.

Rant/rave/symptoms: Boobs feels full, heavy and sore. Tired and generally sore. Hungry for all the things. Smelling everything.

Questions for the Group: What are your favorite TV shows? I'm loving The Mindy Project (catching up on Hulu) and we enjoy Doctor Who, Parks and Rec (so sad it's done), Community, Arrow & Flash. Lots of our favorite shows have ended. :(

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: Just getting out of the house would be awesome. Right now, I'd kill to go have a good pub burger and see Jurassic World or Inside Out, or picnic and an outdoor concert.

ACleanLife - my DH has Celiac, so I eat mostly GF, too. I like KIND granola bars, carrots and hummus, and Trader Joe's freeze dried fuji apple slices.

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Nothing

What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: working on an armoire for the room that baby and my youngest stepson will share (no closet space).

Rant/rave/symptoms: Definitely feeling the nausea today. I went out at lunch and bought basically every ginger thing that Whole Foods sells - ginger ale, ginger candies (hard and chewy), ginger tea...hopefully it helps!

Questions for the Group: I think someone else asked the same thing...how are some of you getting in to see your dr so early? Mine won't see me until after 8 weeks, so early August.  It feels so far away!

GTKY: Ideal date night for you and SO: Dinner out and then a movie. We celebrated Friday night after finding out and basically did that :)
