  • I've been waiting for this since Tuesday!!

My uo is that pigs are seriously not cute, and no one should want them as a pet. I hate seeing fb posts of baby pig pictures and girls saying, "aww I want one!" I mean yuck! They're dirty and stinky. And yummy. So no, no pet pigs, and if I see you walking one I will laugh at you.

Just to explain, my dd has been watching a lot of peppa pig. I think I have some serious deep seeded hatred of that damn pig to work on.

Oh no I love Peppa Pig :( Embrace the piggy lol
  • In regards to second showers, I have a good friend of mine who is having her third baby and now her third baby shower. I do find it a bit ridiculous. I had another friend last year who had her second baby, it was a different gender so she had a smaller shower but she also had a diaper shower the same day that the SO's were all invited too. It just felt like a massive money grab.

This is my second. My family is very against second ahowers. I have had another friend offer to throw a small shower for me if I'd like and I think I would like it. My DD's birthday is at the end of February so if this babe is another DD I really will not need much if anything in the way of clothes though.

Anywho I guess my u\o is about second and third showers being made to feel a money grab. I'm not totally against them if they are low key and small.
  • @jessfragione just tell all of your family/friends ahead of time so no one gets their nose out of joint about it.
Especially because at this point there's just no way of knowing how the birth is going to go, I think that's a great policy.

Mine this week is kinda political. Some networks are stopping airing Dukes of Hazzard because of the recurring images of the confederate flag and all that current political drama... I love that show, come on! :/

I agree. It's never bothered anyone, until now?? Just silly I think. It's a silly show, that's all

  • Oh, man. I've waited all week for this thread. Mine is this: the huge elastic headband bows on baby girls, especially ones that are under a year. Hate. Hate. Hate. Your baby is precious and beautiful, and has the rest of her life (once she has hair) to wear bows, flowers, and feathers on her head. NOTE: Not all bows are evil. I am a fan of the small, tasteful ones that are actually being used to hold back hair. My hate is very specifically aimed at the elastic ones.

Also when infant girls' fingernails and toenails are painted. There's no way a 6 month old told you she wanted that done, let alone picked the color. A 2 yr old is another story, but babies? Come on.
I admit I was one to use an elastic bow. Even when wearing pink my baldie always got "what a handsome guy!" and I got sick of correcting people. X_X But I totally agree with the nail painting! (And ear piercing- I saw a baby girl get pierced in the mall when I was pregnant and it scarred me for life!)
  • I don't know why but it really irritates me when people like their own facebook post/picture. Obviously you won't have posted it if you didn't.

OMG omg yes!! I have a friend that after a few days will like her own pic so it'll pop back up in the time line, I'm assuming so that ppl will see it again and hopefully like it that time!! Argh!!!

The idea of someone puncturing my baby in a mall is just... No.

I guess my UO is when people make me feel bad for having a gender preference. It doesn't mean I will love the other gender any less if it should happen. I'm not against team green at all, in fact if I had a shred of patience I would consider it. I just wish people wouldn't make it seem like I'm already a bad mom.

    Its fine if you do.
Just that I really don't have a preference, and I don't like being asked - because it usually is asked in such a way as, "I bet you really want a boy this time because you already have a girl, huh?"
  • I don't see anything wrong with having a baby shower if you have already had one. I have 4 kids and the only reason I had a shower for each kid is because I don't want the other ones growing up asking why the older sister got one but they didn't. That's sad. My first one was huge and way over the top cus my mom and mother in law planned it but it was nice. All my other ones since then we're just small and low key but I still felt that each baby deserved to have his or her own. To me it's about getting everyone together to celebrate another baby coming to the world and having fun and eating good food. :)

I wasn't aiming this at your post at all! I realize the frustration of being asked, I could imagine how bad it is if you're not finding out/have no preference.
This was more towards other boards that have said stuff like 'oh so if it's a girl you won't love it?' Those comments are absurd and absolutely not what any mom feels.
  • I also hate the gender preference questions. I really do not care and I will be happy and will love my baby no matter. But I hate how everyone assumes I want a girl just because I have two boys. So that snot that I am always tells people I want a boy because I love the look they give me.

This. I have a son and it's obnoxious how everyone automatically assumes I REALLY WANT a girl. Umm, no. I've known way too may people who received devastating news at their 20 week scan to care about what is between my child's legs.

Being team green this time around has made me ultra aware of our society's obsession with the whole "you need one of each" idea.
  • @cawalp yeah people can be such d-bags. Because obviously if it's not the gender you want you're going to give it away and try again, huh? :-w
