Trying to Get Pregnant

If I am not pregnant...

then I really think it's the Provera playing tricks on me. Indifferent

Even though it's been over two weeks since I stopped taking it. I read you can accumulate progesterone in your system and obviously it can cause certain symptoms easily mistaken for pg symptoms. So now I have major heartburn, my skin is breaking out, and a beautiful chart (thankful for that). Oh and a BFN with AF due in 3 days.

Has anyone else taken Provera and noticed side effects similar to mine?

  • Good luck with it!

    That photo is adorable!!!

  • I haven't taken it, so I don't have an answer for you, but I wanted to say that your LO is adorable!
  • When I took Provera, I had no symptoms that you are talking about.

  • I didn't have any symptoms at all while I was taking Provera or after.

But I'm a little confused.  If you stopped taking Provera over two weeks ago, that would mean you were taking it before ovulation.  Why is that?  Usually Provera is used to induce AF after a long cycle and no ovulation.

I saw my OB on CD2 and she told me to start Provera the next day for 10 days/10mg in order to regulate/shorten my cycles. I have no idea why she did that but I didn't know anything about Provera at the time, so I couldn't ask her.

I have another appt with her tomorrow and I will ask her what her reasoning was. Either way, I O'ed seemingly out of the blue and never had a withdrawal bleeding after Provera, so something must have worked? I have been trying for weeks to find an answer to it, lol.

That's really interesting, I've never heard of Provera being used like that.  Since it's nothing more than progesterone, it makes sense to me that you would take it to simulate the second half of your cycle, but never have I heard of anyone taking it on CD2.  Keep us posted when you find out her reasoning, I'm very curious!

  • I'll definitely let you know. I can't wait to grill her tomorrow, lol.
