I am just eating for survival at this point. A week or two ago I looked like I had just come off of Naked and Afraid's 21 day challenge. Starving isn't healthy either. I eat what I can. Luckily most of it is healthy, but not all if it.
Of course I care about what I put in my pie hole. Or as I like to call it, my cake and ice cream hole. Because I read the OP and went and grabbed a pint of Moose Tracks in order to enjoy the comments that followed. And enjoy them I did.
My last baby was made out of ice cream and he ended up darn cute and pudgy, so this one will be too, dammit.
I'm sorry but if she's from England than the post definitely comes off as even more condescending...
"Not Fat Shaming but... basically the US is a society with 30% of the adult population obese which is linked to complications such as metabolic disease, type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes..."
And the UK isn't one step behind with their obesity problem?
She's from the U.S. but currently lives in the UK
Ok good - carry on
It only sounds rude if I try and say it in a posh British accent... which even after 4 years here I still suck it!
I wasn't trying to give specific instructions on what people should and shouldn't do... but this is also my area of research and I am shocked by what I find our sometimes. I also have been working on a paper on prenatal vitamins and compared best selling mainstream brands and more "holistic" brands and some of the contents were shocking. Many lacked things you would need and even worse some were compounded in odd ways- like containing silica which is essentially sand.

Completely off topic, but I love that show!! That's my husband and I's "show" that we watch together.
I think people are taking this post far too personally. I'm pretty happy to see some discourse on where we can find natural sources of the vitamins and nutrients we really need for a healthy pregnancy.
I'm taking Garden of Life prenatals which seem to have good reviews. I've also really gotten into making a shake in the morning which I'm adding hemp hearts and flax seeds to for omegas and protein. What else are you ladies using?

Me too! Love that show. I haven't caught any of the new episodes and I'm looking forward to catching up I always tell my hubby I want to try it but I wouldn't last two days! Lol!

Yes! My husband and I are convinced that we would be able to make it as a team. The only thing that would get to me would be the bugs. I do not do well with itchy bug bites!
ALL I EAT ARE SNYDER HONEY MUSTARD ONION PRETZELS. Goodness I wish. In the meantime I just day-dream about them (ALL DAY LONG).
I just remember from my last two pregnancies -- the first trimester was so hard that eating anything was just REALLY difficult. I remember simply trying to drink my calories so I could have some nutrition. Nausea hit me pretty hard right around the 6-7 week mark both times. For our first pregnancy I pretty much ate saltines. I imagine when I get back to that point, I'd love to do clean eating and all that but when most of it just ends up being thrown up (sorry TMI)...it ultimately came down to what my body wouldn't reject.
Right now, I think I'm still pretty early on so things are okay-ish. We eat pretty much the same we have always eaten: organic, local as we can, and balanced. I am not going to lie and say we don't have mac and cheese or pizza here and there. I'd rather my daughter learn balance and moderation in all things.
So I think it's great that the OP has done a lot of research on where to get things etc etc but I would just say it's not my place to judge. We're all just trying to make it.
