I like the pampers sensitive but I think we had blowouts in them. LO has chicken legs and the huggies have worked well instead. I have all the different brands in 1s so I'll see what works best before I subscribe on Amazon mom, we'll start using them next week when I run out of newborn.

My butt hurts... So bad. I can't bring myself to look down there at all. I haven't pooped yet and finally feel like I could ..... But it's not coming and these stitches are hurting.... Bleh! No matter what though....... Better than being pregnant. Hands down.
Baby is just 3 days old. We got to go home from the hospital today. I still can't walk or go to the bathroom by myself, so poor DH is helping me with everything on top of doing diaper changes and so on for the baby. About the only thing I can do for the baby is breastfeeding. And that's important and takes most of my time, so it helps me not feel so useless as a mother. Not that breastfeeding is easy for me or without issues. I have severely inverted nipples, so have to use a nipple shield on both sides or baby cannot latch on at all. To my great relief, my LO can latch on with the shield. Today, my milk started coming in, and my breasts are so hard and engorged! The nurse at the hospital was super nice and spent a lot of time with me today helping me to pump, then put the pumped milk in a special device with a little tube I could wear on my shirt. The little tube went in the baby's mouth along with my nipple (encased in the shield), so baby would think he was getting all that milk by breastfeeding, and not get spoiled by the easy flow of a bottle.
I was so happy to be able to nourish my LO today with real breastmilk! Now my breasts are leaking.
LO has been wanting to be on the breast almost constantly. My nipples are super sore. I think it will get better though, so I'm in no hurry to give up. It's a great feeling to be able to feed the baby with my body.
My accomplishment is making it thru the first 24 hours. LO is burpy and his tummy is grumbling - nurses say his digestion is adjusting to life on the outside. Makes sense. Also makes for a fussy baby. LO and I are learning how to latch and various gold positions, trying to find harmony (I know, it will take time).
@mellymar you had a boy!!!!! We were both wrong! Lol ...I love the name btw.. I found hospital breastfeeding stressful. Once we got home we hit our stride. I was way more relaxed at home.
LO will not nap during the day anywhere else but my arms. It makes it impossible to get anything done. I try to put her in her swing once she's sleeping and she wakes up a few minutes later and screams. Anyone have any tips? She used to nap just fine in it when she was first born.
Can't remember who mentioned walking for PP recovery. When did y'all start adding in short walks with LO? *i know everyone's recovery time is different, just checking everyone's timeline.* I'm 1 week 3 days PP today.

I don't have an answer, but it might be just a phase to get through. My LO just started doing this during her third week. It's endearing but exhausting! Hoping it fades in a few days for both you and me! I tried the k'tan wrap so at least I have free hands but she hates it. I am going to keep trying!

I walked on Day 3 with LO in a Moby carrier. It was a 30 minute walk, and we did ok but that was my limit. At about 1 week PP I started slowly walking 30-60 minutes, but DH carried LO because I was still in a LOT of pain. But that's when I noticed that walking would make the pain go away. (Not during the walk, but after.) So I started walking every day.
Given my personal, limited experience, I'd recommend you start walking now, if possible. But i'd also recommend you try not to carry anything, if possible, or just take it easy if you do, to learn your limits.
For me it's hard to balance respecting my limits with knowing I'll feel better later if I push myself a little. I can carry LO in the Moby, but it wraps tightly at breast level, which causes pain and the beginnings of clogged ducts for me. So for now, DH is carrying him for the most part.
Hope you're able to have some fun with it, and feel better soon! And we discussed this on a thread I started called Post Partum Recovery Tips or something similar, if you want to check that out. I think others said walking helps them, too.

Which k tan wrap do you have?! Thinking of getting one but not sure which one!
@katyertl@hoodoll82 Mine hit this stage for a few days at the end of week 3. There wasn't really anything I could do about it but take those days as lazy days and let her sleep on me. I decided it was better than dealing with an overtired baby, and it was slightly better for my sanity.
Is anyone else feeling like a slave to the couch/bed/chair/wherever you spend your time feeding? 4.5 weeks now and still feeling stir crazy. I get out of the house every few days but when i'm in the house I'm always in this one place. Ugh..
@kkdb14 Yes. I just posted in Daily Symptoms thread that I think I have a touch of the baby blues, though I am truly enjoying and appreciating every moment. The repetition of my life right now is emotionally and mentally draining. Not complaining, and feeling very lucky to have this time. But I feel like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.

I just got a regular k'tan (didn't know there are versions!) It's tight, which is why LO hates it. She hates being swaddled too because she can't get to her fingers. She's nuts about having her hands on her face, it's weird. But that's how she sat in the womb too. All her ultrasound pics show her hands waving in the air, which in retrospect makes so much sense.
@kkdb14 yep, we are 26 days in so right in the midst of week 3 as you suggested! Also I am tired of sitting on either the couch or the futon in the baby's room. Looking for new scenery and/or sitting positions. My neck and back are rocked from being in the same position all the time!

I keep moving to different spots on the couch/love seat. Haha. At night, DH asks which spot I want my things at.
@virginiaunicorn11 - I have had the WORST baby blues in the afternoon (not the hurt me or baby ones) but just feeling down & stir crazy. DH went back to work Monday, & I've been stuck at home (mom comes by & a friend stopped by, which was nice), but today I went to Target for about 30 min to get a few things (with LO!) & tomorrow I'm going to meet with the LC to check my latch/get pumping tips. I seem to feel a little better today though, getting out of the house for a bit. Hoping walking helps too!
Anyone's LO HATE sleeping flat? We have a bassinet for night in our room (crib for later) & the boppy lounger, bouncy seat, & sleeper attachment in pack&play. She sleeps EVERYWHERE except the bassinet at night. Last night I propped up on the couch with her from 1-6 & slept because of it. I'm worried about her sleeping in the bouncy seat, but a nurse friend of mine I babysat for in college had her baby boy sleep in it... Ugh. All these warnings make me terrified.

Here!!! LO lovesss the boppy lounger! Or just being held in my arms. So far the bassinet has failed us. Hoping it's just a phase. I would like a night of sleep where I can just relax and actually sleep lol

I guess I didn't quite do my research. They just have different types of fabrics lol
Muthaf*¢ka! I was in the awesome shower at the hospital and dreamily massaging my aching boobs in the warm water and - not paying attention, ran the hard plastic edge of one of my THREE hospital bracelets right across my left nipple, which is already sore and has a small bloody spot on it. So. Much. Unexpected. Pain. And I basically scraped a raw spot on the side of the nipple with the damned bracelet. Its a small thing, but it did bleed, and is just going to be a ducky addition to bfing, I'm sure [-(
Funny thing LO did today... I decided we were going to have a little mini photo shoot because she was looking extra cute. I got a whole bunch of pictures of her making some truly atrocious (and hilarious!) faces, and then FINALLY got a smile out of her. Then, seconds after the smile, she pooped so much that I had to change her outfit AND my pants. Gross - but it made me laugh anyway she's lucky I love her!
@mellymar omg I'm cringing just thinking of your poor nips. I'm 3 weeks out and I've JUST been able to wrap the towel around my nipples without wanting to die after a shower. Oh and I can let water hit them without wincing.
LO has been sleeping for 3 hours...longest nap she's ever taken during the day. I gotta get her up (gotta feed out this mastitis.)

Today has been a bit stressful DD 3 weeks old today will not stop eating since last night. We are EBF for now so I was up the majority of the night. Thank god for the side laying feeding I feel bad for falling asleep while she eats but if I'm holding her I still fall asleep and worry I will drop her.
Then after she finally went to sleep and I could put her down for more then a few minutes DH mom and sister wanted to come over and was just a block away. I told him it was fine for them to visit but they would have to wait outside till I get dressed. They arrived and would not stop knocking after he informed them they would have to wait. I definitely will not allow her to come by again without notice ahead of time.
I'm surprised all of you have been taking LO out and about we where advised against taking her out in public for the first 2 months. So I've been at home most all of those 3 weeks it gets really boring.
We've taken LO out for about 5 trips so far in 26 days. Short ones, and no physical contact with the public - always in her carrier and away from prying hands! I hope that's ok, I didn't really ask the doc but was trying to follow advice to get out when I can.

At our prenatal class at the hospital, the pediatrician and nurse both said that the two outings that are most essential to avoid, especially in the first month, were family events and church - unless you're willing to be the bad guy and tell people they're not holding LO. They actually recommended that we go on walks and other small outings, though, because 1) it's good for LO's immune system to not be cooped up in the house all the time (but, again, avoid contact with too many extra people!!) and 2) it's good for mom to get out to avoid PP depression.
Our approach has been to take baby steps. We've gone on a few walks. I've brought her to the library. We took her to church at 2 weeks - didn't let anyone touch her, though, and I don't think we'll be going again for a while because wooden pews are no fun for a healing mommy! We took her to a father's day cook out at my sister-in-law's parents' house on Sunday at 3 weeks, as a practice run for DH's family's huge 4th of July party that she'll be attending at 5 weeks - again, few people were allowed to hold her. And on Saturday, we're taking her out for dinner. So far, so good. She likes getting out of the house and it's nice to have a change of scenery
Not happy that some of you are going trough it too, but glad to hear I'm not the only one who can't let the water from the shower head hit the nips! Even as a exclusive pumper they can't take it
Also starting to contemplate getting a short mom haircut. At 6 weeks my twins have quite the death grip already! Sucks because I loveeee my long hair
Yikes -- I've been taking LO everywhere. I'd go stir crazy. I'm going to my sisters sip n see this weekend (LO will be just about a month) but leaving after my grandmother is able to hold her. Definitely weary of germs. I'm going to bring a bottle of purell for the people who don't take no for an answer about holding her.

It is so important to get out with or without little one! I am currently in a pedicure chair while my parents are with the kids! My unexpected hospital stay at least showed me that I can be away from home for a bit!
I've been taking LO out as well, but just walks or errands. I keep a blanket over the car seat to help discourage people from getting in her face. So far, so good. I'd really recommend anyone feeling the blues to try getting out, it really helps. Today, we went to my favorite coffee shop and just sat outside but it was so much nicer than coffee at home.
LO also refuses to sleep on her back in the bassinet. I put her in a bouncy seat last night and it was by far the best sleep we've gotten. I remember with DS, he never slept well until he could roll over and sleep on his stomach. I think some people just can't sleep on their backs, myself included. We'll keep trying, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it.
@Sammy K since day 1 I've put LO on her side-ish to sleep. I know it's not the preferred way but her head is always turned up with nothing blocking her airway. Babies hate sleeping on their backs (at least most do). Even when she's in her car seat or rock and play she turns her head all the way to the side like she normally sleeps so I'm not concerned.

My LO only slept for like 45 min today except for the 5 min he'd crash after eating. It's been the longest day ever. Is that even normal?Praying he sleeps between feedings tonight!
I can't wait for my milk to come in. Kid wants on the boob ALL THE TIME. Hoping once my milk comes he'll get some satisfaction from there and we'll be able to pull him away from my chest for some time. Right now the only way he will stay quiet for any length of time (at night, anyway. Its not quite as bad during the day. Of course.) is for him to be on boob until he falls asleep, then wait for him to relax enough to break suction and tuck boob under cheek, but for gods sake, don't move him!
Possible silver lining to all this boob time - hopefully milk will come quicker and strongly.
Achievement- just finished snacking on some pop tarts one handed and managed to keep the boobs crumb free

I'd be careful with that expectation, Melly! My boy is 3 weeks old and looooves the tatas, just like you're describing here.
It was frustrating me, but I'm trying to focus on the fact that DH wants more time with the babe, and I'm the lucky one that gets this bonding and cuddles. Sometimes that outlook works, and sometimes my nipples just say F&@$ off with your positivity, lady!

Yeah, I realize it may not happen that way. But at least I'll be happy that all that time on the boob will be productive. I know there is colostrum now, but I'm sure there isn't THAT much. I'll at least be happy that all this time spent on boob is accomplishing something. The snuggles ARE nice, but my nips appreciate the breaks when they come, especially considering the remainder of the time I don't feel we're doing much other than preparing surface area, lol
ETA also, I'll be able to use the milk on the nips for the soreness then. Now alls I got is lanolin
Ftm here. 3 weeks tomorrow pp and I'm down what Weight I gained during pregnancy plus about 5 lbs. is this from ebf? Will I gain it back as soon as I stop?
Feeling like a slave to pumping trying to establish a stash. If LO is not eating I'm trying to get her to nap so I can pump in between her feedings. Not to mention my flanges are too big and I'm waiting on my smaller ones to be delivered so these are killing my nips... (
I also just checked reviews of my freezer bags for milk and everyone said they leaked when defrosted so I'm freaking out that I'm going to lose the milk I have frozen already when defrosted. I ordered a new kind but they don't get here for a few days.
Tl;dr: being a milk machine is annoying.
