@MurLindzz your response is very helpful. Since I've posted I've had them every 5 minutes or so- definitely hurt but...they make me feel like I gotta go poop? It's one of those feelings right now, like a bad stomach ache and you know it'll be ok after you go!
Is this normal?? Haha
I constantly tell DH that I'm either contracting or have gas/need to poop. Since I'm still pregnant... Guess which one it's been...
@MurLindzz that definitely helps! It's crazy how far along you were once yOu got to the hospital! I'm definitely not in any pain so I'll chalk it up to Braxton hicks. Thank you for your help!!
I feel silly asking this but with contractions, what's more important: regularity + timing or pain + inability to walk or talk through them? I know what I'm feeling isn't the real deal but I worry I should be timing them any way. When do people start timing?
I had not felt any contractions at all so when I felt one at 40w +4 I started timing them as right away because I figured it was the real thing and also they didn't seem to far apart. They were about 1 min long and about ten min apart. Within a couple of hours they increased to every five so I was glad I had been keeping track.
How will I know if it's my first period or just postpartum bleeding picking up again?
I was a cranky bitch yesterday and my bleeding changed from scant and brown to more and red. I also had cramping the day before. Feeling like it's my period (3 weeks +2 days after giving birth). It seems soon to me but I'm not breast feeding and my periods have literally been every 28 days since I was 12 years old.

Anybody?
I doubt it's your period but I'm not a medical professional. I would guess it's more likely you over exerted yourself and it's pp bleeding. From what I've read and my experience with DS, your first period will be super heavy. Maybe some of the nurses/docs here have better info?
@hswan26 - don't know if you can tell, but I wouldn't think it makes a difference really. Use birth control regardless as you ovulate before you get your period, and anyway you probably haven't/shouldn't be having sex or using tampons regardless of whether it's your period or not. Right? I totally might be missing something!

I really just want to know so I know when to expect the next one! We aren't having sex and I'm not using tampons or anything.
@Sammy K I don't remember my first PP period being any heavier than a normal one. I also don't remember how soon I got it so that probably doesn't mean anything special

Gotcha. Well, I still think it's a craps shoot as your hormones readjust - your schedule might be way off even if it was really consistent the rest of your life. So even if this is it, you won't necessarily know when the next is coming. I'd mark it on my calendar with a question mark and see what happens down the road!
Re: FFFQ - Flame Free Friday Questions! No question too silly, ask 'em all!
