We had a family gathering at my sister n laws house yesterday. We were there from 1-almost 8. I breastfed twice in a spare room and then used formula for another. Everything went so well and we had such a good time.
Had the most awful night last night. I had to set down my already fussy LO because I got horrible cramps out of nowhere and had to run to the bathroom where I was stuck, doubled-over on the toilet listening to her cry and feeling like the absolute worst mother ever. I then spent a good portion of the night trying to get a very fussy LO to sleep so I could do the dishes and tidy up the house because my roommate has turned into a lazy POS and DH works 2 jobs so he wasn't there to help (not that I would ask him to since he already works so hard) and boy, was that trying. LO is normally such an easy, quiet baby...
But today is a new day and I'm excited to surprise DH for his first Father's day.
Well one accomplishment from this week was giving birth! Go me! Haha the baby is now 4 days old and we just love love love her. I think daddy and I are both doing a pretty good job at juggling her and the needs of our 3 year old I'm so happy my milk is in and we are filling up her little belly.
No more umbilical cord stump for LO! It fell off last night when DH was changing her diaper. So today we had our first tummy time experience! Surprisingly it went really, really well; we lasted almost 10 minutes before LO started crying.
Today we're going to my sister in law's parents' house for a cookout (SIL is married to DH's brother). I'm so excited for it, it's LO'S first family event - and funny enough, it's not with either my family or DH's. I'm super close with SIL and her family is seriously amazing, I feel much closer with them than I do DH's extended family. I'm relieved that we have this "trial run" before we have to bring her to see DH's extended family, because it'll give me practice with saying no when people ask to hold her and I know SIL's family will understand about germs... not so sure that DH's family will be understanding about this when we bring LO to their 4th of July party. Should be a great afternoon!
Hope you all have a great day with the important fathers in your lives!
Well we were having a great morning until DD's dad asked to come get her before lunch. Boo on him. DH lovingly calls him DumbAss. There goes my nice Sunday Funday with my biggest LO.
We are going for regular walks and I'm building both our strength by just carrying him the whole time. So far so good. Glad it has been overcast here a lot
So fun! I got the app, but can't get it to show me anything....just a black screen. DD is four days old; my sister said maybe she can only see black. I said I don't think so?!!

Hmmm make sure you allowed it access to your phone camera, maybe?
So tonight we were going to try having LO sleep in his crib and we went to set up our audio monitor and put the wrong batteries in it and we fried it. I just ordered a new one... I think we are both a little sleep deprived and it looks like LO will be sleeping in our room a few more nights.
Breastfeeding is great, but everything else, oye. I had a crying meltdown at Target this morning, because DH didn't think we needed the two packages of Keebler cookies I picked out. My in laws are driving me crazy. They've been in my home nearly every day. My sister in law just moved here from Nepal, and the boundaries are just very different there, so it just feels like she is constantly baby snatching or touching my son while he is nursing. On Monday, while I was taking a nap, SIL and MIL decided that DS needed water; luckily my husband intervened. MIL keeps says things like how I need to pump so that she can give my son a bottle. My BIL just ate my last can of Pringles, and my MIL was making a backed potato in the microwave, and the microwave shorted out and is now completely dead. Get the F out of my house!

This would all drive me crazy even without baby-related hormones. Good for you for trying to be patient, I hope they leave soon so you can have some peace!
LO was born with dark brown hair, which was funny because I'm red and DH is brownish blond. But now a lot more hair is coming in much lighter. It's straight with a few curls on top, and soft as you can imagine. I have always loved this baby, but I'm definitely falling harder for him every day!
He makes the sweetest, funniest little faces when he's coming out of sleep or a milk stupor. He suddenly turns his chin upward and inhales deeply through his nose, with his eyes closed but eyebrows up. Like he's trying but is just toooo sleeeepy to open those eyes.
Thanks @CillyMama! I'm glad I was promoted this cycle - because I can't imagine I'll work harder once I go back full time with a baby! (Yeah that probably sounds horrible but I don't see long hours in my future right now). I was sure if I didn't get promoted now, it was probably going to be a while!
I'm surprised how blurry I am to LO per the app! I now try to talk more to her so she knows it's me

Aww, that sounds so sweet! I'm really curious to see how my LOs colouring turns out. His dad is Indian with light brown skin, brown eyes and black hair, and I'm Irish with pale skin with some freckles, blue eyes and curly mid brown hair. At the moment LO has straight dark brown hair, dark grey eyes and skin which is halfway between DHs and mine. I'm expecting his eyes to turn brown eventually but I'm kinda secretly hoping that they stay grey - they're so beautiful right now.
What are you using on the changing table? My boy pees all over everything just when I've gotten him cleaned up, every. time.
We are using cloth diapers to lay him on, and washing about 10-15 of them a day. Is this madness? Is there a better way?
Also, what are you using to dry baby's bottom after wiping?
Lots of waterproof liners! They don't look like liners, they come in different colors and we have stocked up because we are having same problem ... The actual changing table cover is so nice... But have to always have a liner on top.. So you can just put liner in laundry and lay down a new one (so stock up)
^^ to add, I keep a blanket (usually a swaddle or thermal cotton blanket) next to supplies just to dry his bottom after wiping... Just have to tell DH "this is the designated drying butt blanket for the day" .. So he knows not to wrap him up in it after

For the changing table I use chux pads since they're disposable. Similar to the ones at the hospital but I get the smaller size, I think it's the one used for pets

Maybe I'm in the minority... But I never felt the need to dry his bottom after wiping. It never seemed that moist and the disposable diapers pull away moisture quite well. I treated my first son the same way. Never had any diaper rash issues or whatnot. I don't recall seeing any family that changed them dry them off either... Now you have me wondering if we're all just crazy over here. Haha.
Our boy likes to pee all over the place too and a friend gave us the tip to cover his penis with toilet paper while cleaning his bottom. You have to hold it on there but it actually works once you get the hang of it. The pee soaks into it and you just toss it in the trash/toilet (or disposable diaper) with the wipes. We keep a roll of TP on the changing station but reuse if he doesn't pee on it. We've cut laundry down like crazy.
DD poops constantly and now has a bad raw rash. Idk what to do!! I've tried coconut oil, butt paste, desitin, and using only wash cloths and water to wipe her. As soon as she's clean she's pooping again. I just want to cry for her.

Poor baby! Mine has had a few bad ones already too. Maybe try leaving her diaper off for a little bit (maybe some naked tummy time on a yoga mat) and let her bum get some fresh air (outside in shade if weather permits).
A friend of mine just told me about resinol that's behind the pharmacy counter at Walmart. You just have to ask for it. I'm going to have DH pick that up tonight after he gets off work. She still has her cord stump so I'm afraid to put her on her belly, but that does sound like a good idea.
Sorry this is dear diary-ish but I want to say hooray that I did my first car trip and errands by myself with LO today! She loves car trips - sleeps the whole time. I was able to return some registry items, drop off my engagement ring to get resized to my new fat mom fingers, plus get an iced coffee and gas for the car. Admittedly I did a drive through for the coffee and went to a full service gas station but still!
So today DH went back to work. Thankfully my mom came by this morning to help out. She vacuumed my floor since our vacuum went kaput a few weeks ago. *shame* AND I got a nap while she loved on LO. She went and got some lunch & now LO & I are resting alone this afternoon. I guess I'll wait until DH gets home at 6-7 to do my sitz bath & shower. Haha not ready for that yet.

Leave her out of diaper as much as you can, I did this with my LO and just spend a day with him on a towel on my lap to let him "air out" and it completely took care of it..
@SammeMotley I don't know if you've tried it yet but I use California Baby Diaper Area Wash. I spray it on then use a small cloth to wipe. Using the wash plus a diaper ointment helped my LO with his rashes.
@CillyMama where would I find that at?? This is my third child, but first girl and I didn't have this trouble with my boys. They also weren't breastfed.

Awesome! I love stuff like that!
2nd round exp 8/20/18.

Oh and congrats on the promotion! I saw your announcement on another thread.

To dry baby's bottom I just use a dry cloth wipe.

It's nice to feel somewhat normal.
