Fetal Abnormality- I'm devastated- Update

I just got back from the hospital. Unfortunately not good news. His bladder has burst from the pressure. All his internal organs are bathed in urine, causing even more damage. There's no coming back from this. My options are wait the max 5 weeks he has left and give birth to him then, or terminate now. I've chosen to terminate. Either way I'll be giving birth to a dead baby, he will just be smaller if I do it now. I have an appointment on thursday (9/7/15) and that's when I will be delivering him. I'm so sorry that you're going through this and getting these news. I did a bit of reading on it and it seems that it's very rare that it needs full intervention. So the statistics are on your side. It's going to be hard not to worry but you're going to see specialists and they will help. The most important thing to have is hope - and pray that it'll resolve itself or that a mild intervention can fix it.

To give you a bit of hope, even though it's a different scenario, we were told at my 20 week ultrasound with my first daughter that she may have had an aortic disruption - a very dangerous cardiac abnormality and they told us we may have to terminate the pregnancy. For a few hours I was in shock and in limbo. Then we met with a cardiologist who changed the diagnosis. Even though she had to have open heart surgery when she was born, she's now a thriving 21 month old who's the light of our lives. And the cardiologist is part of our family

So please have hope and I pray it will all be ok.

Thinking of you during this difficult time. Wait until you see the specialists to fully freak out if you can. A lot of times, initial impressions can be off...yes OB/GYNs are great, but you want someone whose focus is the kidneys etc to really look this over. They, like the PP's situation, may have another opinion/viewpoint.

So sorry that is so scary. I have been in a similar situation. Found out my first baby would be born with an extreme abnormality found at my anatomy scan. After that ultrasound I was so shocked and it was definitely one of the hardest days of my life. Sending you and baby my thoughts and prayers that everything turns out just fine. (((Hugs)))
