Gender "feelings"

edited June 2015 in January 2016 Moms
Do any of you / have any of you in the past just had a "feeling" about the gender of your baby? My friends were laughing at me because I said I just have a feeling that it will be a boy! My husband and I couldn't care less which it is, we just want it to be healthy. But I can't shake the feeling of just KNOWING that it's a boy.

And if you did have a feeling, were you right or wrong?

Re: Gender "feelings"

  • I had a very strong feeling that my last baby was a boy, and I was right. I feel like this one is a girl, but I don't know if that's the same kind of feeling or just what I want!! (Although I'd be happy with another boy too of course.)

I didn't have any intuition about the gender, but I knew dd was going to go post dates. She did, only a couple days because I ended having a c/s due to breech presentation that we didn't find out about until past her due date as well. I think she would have stayed in longer than that if I'd had a spontaneous labor.
I have a strong feeling this one is going to be early. 38th or 39th week.
Eta all of that to say, don't discount your intuition. :)

I did with my first. 100% boy. No doubt. Went in for the ultrasound and tech said, "It's a girl." I laid there shocked thinking are you sure? Maybe check again. Sure enough we had a girl and I couldn't imagine having a boy cause she's just so sweet and cuddly! I think this one is a boy because it's been such a different pregnancy, but every pregnancy is different and we are happy with either!
  • I feel like it's a girl, but honestly I would be so happy with either!
  • I feel like I already know it's a girl. My guy tells me it's 100% a girl and I just cannot shake the feeling!
  • We felt it was a boy last time, and that's what we got :). This time we both want another boy for our son to have a little brother, but I have a very strong sneaky suspicion it's a girl. :)

  • I wanted a boy my last pregnancy, in fact dreaded the thought of a daughter. One month before my anatomy scan it hit me! I knew there was a female presence with me and I was right. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

Because I knew my ovulation day and because this pregnancy is so different, I feel like it's a boy but really, I dont know I'll feel a real "presence" til the baby gets a little bigger :)

I feel like it's a girl, but that's what I thought last time and I had a boy hahaha. I think I just want a girl to prove my husband wrong because he's convinced we'll have all boys.

I'll be happy with a boy or girl, obviously.

  • First baby here and I feel like it's a girl! Will be so happy either way the waiting is killing me!!! Ready to know if it's. Liam or a Loralei :)
  • With my first pregnancy I had a feeling it would be a girl and I was right. I'm really not sure with this one. Everyone so far seems to think I'm having a boy.

I feel like it's a boy because I am pretty symptomless. I know it can go either way and I don't have a preference but it just feels boy to me.
  • For my first I was sure it was going to be a boy and I was correct. My second pregnancy was completely different from my first so I was sure it was a girl, but it was a boy. I don't have any feelings yet about this one, still early.

  • First pregnancy some days I'm convinced it's a boy because I don't get very sick and most girl mommies usually get really sick... And then one day I started to get sick lol so sometimes I'm convinced it's a girl! Either one will be so beautiful for me! I actually get to find out Monday through blood test!

My husband is the same way, his father only has brothers, my husband only has brothers and now I have two sons. He's says boys are all we make.

My first pregnancy, I was so sure it was a boy, and was wrong. Since my pregnancy is different from DD, I'm thinking boy.

  • I KNEW with my first I was having a boy and I did. My second I knew it was a girl and she was! My third I thought boy but then I had a dream it was a girl and she was a girl and this baby I was thinking boy but I keep second guessing myself! We plan on finding out on delivery day so it'll be a while until I know for sure!

  • With my first, I alway felt girl from day 1. My husband would try to get me to pick boy names just in case and I refused because I knew she was a girl. She was. This time around I feel nothing which is usually what happens with the boys. I get no feelings on them. My husband is hiding his excitement until we find out but I'm pretty sure it's not a girl! Lol

He doesn't understand why it annoys me that he says it. And honestly, I don't either, because I would be perfectly happy if we had all boys. But I just don't want him to shut down any dream of maybe having a girl, you know?

  • DH and I both say girl. We both wanted a boy first, but we will be ecstatic either way!
  • I felt like my first was a girl and it was. We hope we're having another girl, but we will see, obviously we will be happy with either tho
  • My husband and I both think its a boy, we will see!

  • For my first, I thought it was a girl and it was!

With this one, I feel so different that I'm just not even sure what to think! I'm terrified of having a boy. It's totally and completely unrational, but that's where I'm at! Has anyone been in this boat? What did you do? I'm starting to feel guilty because I want to have another baby girl for so many reason- the biggest one is that I want a sister for my daughter!
  • My SO and I feel boy. Pretty much because we cannot come up with a single boy name.

It's funny because I want all boys, but a piece of me wants a girl just to shut them all up and prove them wrong.

  • I think I'm carrying a boy. From the moment I found out, that was my instinct. We'll see with time. I told DH and he just asks why. I tell him I can't tell him why, but it's just a feeling. We will be more than happy either way!!

  • I was POSITIVE DS was a girl. All of the OWTs said girl. I was obviously very wrong so this time I'm not even attempting a guess.
  • My intuition was correct with both of my daughters. I don't want to have any feeling with this one since we are DONE at three kids irregardless of their sexes so whatever this one is, it is really does not matter.

  • I feel like it's a girl but I've had two dreams it's a boy. I want a girl but some of that is fear that I won't be a good mom to a boy. So a boy might be good for me. Lol. I'm sure I'll be happy either way once he/she is here.
  • The fact that this baby is due on the 2 year anniversary of my mother's passing I have a hunch it's a girl. My mom always thought I'd love to have a girl and the coincidence of the date is too eerie.

  • I have had a feeling the whole time that it's a boy. I'll be thrilled with either but would love a boy, mostly because my husband is the last male.
  • Before I could even take a test I knew I was pregnant, and I totally thought and still think it's a boy! I already have a girl but I'd love another one! I just totally think it's a boy this time. We shall see....
  • With my first, I wanted a boy. I only picked out a boys name, and didn't give a girl much to any thought. The tech put the wand on my belly and right away said "it's a boy".

This time, I want a girl. (We'd honestly be happy either way) but I'm not sure if what I want is clouding my judgement. Most days I tease DH and call the baby a "she". (DH wants another boy).
But then there's some days where I'm sure it's a boy..
This one has me stumped. At this point I'm just waiting on the 20 week mark. I've accepted that my "gut feeling" is broken with this pregnancy.

As long as baby is healthy, I could care less if we have a boy or girl. I'll love it the same either way.
(I'm already so in love with our olive sized baby.)
  • With DS I just knew from the beginning he was a boy. At 6 weeks a co-worker asked about names (everyone knew at work because I was so sick) and I only had boys names. We didn't find out at 20 weeks, but DH was sooo sure DS was a girl. When we delivered I had DH announce what the baby was, and his expression was priceless!!! This time I'm not sure, having miscarried in March, I'm more concerned about a healthy baby. I can say I'm on the fence for either a boy or a girl. I can't wait to have a girl to dress her up, but like I've been telling everyone (that knows), out of 5 cousins, between the families in this area, we are the only ones with a boy...

  • With my son I thought I wanted a girl... the thought of raising a little boy was so foreign to me. At about 11 wks I just knew I was having a little boy. When I went for my AS at 20 weeks she asked me if I knew what i was having and I replied "it's a boy, I won't believe you if you say anything else". Sure enough a boy.

That being said I have had strong urges in my previous losses and had strong boy feelings at the beginning of this pregnancy. They have faded though and I utterly have no clue. We don't mind either way, I just want a baby!

  • I had a very vivid dream with DD that she was a boy named Max! I was sure that I was correct, but at the ultrasound the tech wrote "It's a girl!" On the screen and my husband and I just sat there lol My husband thought she was going to be a girl, but I was completely shocked. This time around, my DH thinks it's going to be a boy, and so does some of my friends/family, but I have no distinct feeling either way. I can picture another girl since that's what we already have, and now I'd be a little nervous to be a mom to a boy. I guess we will see in another 6-7 weeks!

I have 4 boys already so I pretty much know it's another boy. We only makes boys it seems lol
  • I had a relatively easy pregnancy with DD. With DS, it was awful - HG, extreme fatigue, cramps, constant spotting - so I knew I was having a boy and was right. This pregnancy hasn't been too bad so far, so I'm suspecting girl.

Honestly, though, there's no way to tell until you see it on the screen. My sister and a ton of friends had completely different pregnancies and ended up having the same sex baby as before, so who knows!

  • I have a very strong feeling that I'm carrying a girl and refer to the baby as "she," my husband says he knows it's a boy and refers to the baby as "he." We are competitive with each other, so this has been fun. Best guesser gets bragging rights! We both feel grateful for the little bean of unknown gender.
