I'm not sure honestly, I have yet to check. I just heard it and in my head thought of it as a very unappealing name. But I don't really like calista either so maybe that's why

It's been a thing. My daughter is Ryann pronounced the same and she's name after her great grandma from Wales.

Artemis is already feminine, unnecessary to -ia it up. I knew someone who named their son Orangejello (or-rahj-ah-low). Dumb. Idiots!
It's actually a very old name.  Oldest person I can think of with it was Artemisia Gentileschi, an early 1600s Italian painter.  I'm also pretty sure it's been around much longer due to the fact that it was my "name" in my ancient Greek class in college.

As for other names it was my first year working in a school, and there were some winners.  Klai.tyn and Avion (going back to the French) were my favorites.

Thanks for clarifying that! I knew that as well, I looked her name up a while ago. It's a very pretty name imo, but I still won't use it for my kiddo...but I like it. Ha.

I've hesitated posting this ever since I started stalking the board months ago. I love the person who did it to death, but i cant get onboard with her kid's names. I tried, but no.... Her first girl has a less common but legit name. Her other 2 girls are named St.ory and Kee.per. The positives? They are real words which are spelled correctly.

Edit: because my phone likes to make up spellings too. Maybe some of these poorly spelled names are just autocorrects gone poorly? Like "well, I meant to type Natalie, but my phone changed it to Gnateleigh, and I thought it looked cool."

WTF is up with all this Baylor nonsense, it's literally popping up a lot.  I admit I don't have an undying love for my university but I do have one for the Buffalo Bills yet I haven't named my children that.
Baylor was a contest on Survivor....could be a coincidence.

  • I met a baby boy named Popeye recently. Like Popeye's Chicken or Popeye the Sailor-Man. Poor, poor child
  • I work in a call center. Some of the most recent names I've had were Aqua and Lamborghini (females) and Quits (male). I especially dislike naming babies after cars.

My co-worker named his daughter Brynnli...I don't like the name and the spelling makes it even worse!!
So many others I've seen on here, I don't even know where to begin! I just feel horrible for the teachers who will have all of these awful names on their class lists...they'll have to start requiring the phonetic pronunciation and gender of the child along with the names!!!
  • Girls - Ever, Alizé, Jealousy, Envy, Sparkles, Love
Boys - Sincere, Camden (I like the way it sounds but having been born in the city which is always in the Top 3 Murder Cities, I can't)
I've never been a fan of names that are nouns, adjectives, etc.

  • As a teacher I run into some pretty crazy names, but the weirdest was probably Armagedon (yes, the word was spelled wrong). When I met the kid on meet the teacher night, I actually chuckled and said "OK, what's your name" and he just repeated it. I actually thought he was joking. I only felt a little bit bad...

I've had some other weird names, but most of the parents were from Africa, and I don't want to make fun of other cultures. Sure keeps life interesting, though.
