UO

haven't seen it yet, but have one....

Whoever invented those damn squeaky shoes needs to be taken out ninja style. I cringe anytime a cute toddle comes walking in with those on and I want to smack their mother. No it does not help your child walk better, it just makes them go from adorably cute to horridly annoying times 10 while I'm pregnant and have no patience.

  • Haha I didn't know they still made those! Yes, Google them, from what I understand it's to get babies/toddlers to walk properly bc they get excited when the shoe squeaks (supposedly). To me, they are the most useless item - just invented to get parents to spend money and to annoy those in public around them.

I thought they were so you can hear it when your little monster runs away from you!  My mum put bells on my brother's and my shoes when we were toddlers for that reason.  I always assumed the squeaky shoes were the same idea.

  • Here's a video I found to show how they sound. https://youtu.be/1IZp_6SO2k4

Watched the video because I was curious and my dog freaked out. He probably thought I had a squeaky toy I wasn't sharing with him. They seem obnoxious anyway, but I'm glad I know not to have them in our house!

I could just see my dog trying to take the shoes off of the kid....

UO: I hate baby showers.  I love free stuff, don't get me wrong, but I find baby showers so awkward.  The games are lame.  At one of mine I was surrounded by complete strangers for hours.  They're exhausting.  I'd much rather buy everything myself than have to deal with a baby shower.  But I'm a bit anti-social so that's a big part of it.  edited for grammar
    I completely agree!!

  • @jefinley1 I'm going to have to try that! It's just started since my belly started to show. It's really thrown me off but you're totally right- I'm going to address it before it gets worse and i get too emotional about it.

UO: I love the squeaky shoes on babies just learning to walk. It's sweet :) UO: People who feel the need to scream or shriek everytime they sneeze, SUCK. Thank God hubby kicked that habit real quick. But it seems like half the population feels like the entire building needs to know when they sneeze....every damn time.
Ugh YES! I can't tell you how many times I've told my family members that sneezing does not need to involve your vocal cords! My dad actually yells "A-CHOOOOO" and it drives me absolutely BONKERS!
  • 1) Why do so many people feel the need to write "up" before their UP? I can understand if they were responding to someone then sharing the UP but when it's just the UP in the UP thread I don't see the point.

    2) I already feel like the leaky boobs posts are getting out of hand. I get FTM's don't know and I have no problem with them posing questions (I'm certain I asked my fair share of dumb ones my first go around) but search first. Then if you can't find what you are looking for ask.

Haha UP was actually a typo. I was just following the format from all the others I guess. I see your point!

@smlowe9311 What is an UP? Maybe UO?

@BrooklynBroussard yes to not holding my tongue! I'm usually fairly diplomatic (in most situations...unless alcohol is involved) but keeping my thoughts trapped inside is much harder now! And, I think I'm a wee bit more easily offended, which can be a dangerous combination!! :) Someone recently said, "Of course your baby will be a Steelers fan! He has no choice!" since our entire family is, and I was all, "My baby can be whatever she wants to be! Don't box her in!" Lol!

Haha, there have been so many posts about it I'm starting to feel like a weirdo b/c mine HAVEN'T leaked any yet  @-) ;))

  • I don't like the move Sweet Home Alabama.  It was on tv last night and I TRIED to give it another chance but just can't like it.  And so many other people love this movie!  Even my husband likes it!  And I'm always up for a good Rom Com!

  • @MamaOwl15 I saw that article too.
Those carts are awesome for the kids and terrible for the parent. I slam into so many shelves with that beast. Plus the actually "cart" is like half the size of a normal one so I can't use it anyway for the bi-monthly big shopping trips.
Personally, I'm happy when they are all being used.

Mine never leaked with dd1. Toward the very end I could squeeze and get something out but they didn't leak until after she was born. And then it was only when my milk came in and when I was nursing (the side she wasn't on leaked). I still wore nursing pads to work just in case (the last time I need is my second graders asking me what THAT wet spot was...)
  • @morganabyrd Ugh. When I got married I moved into the reach of the Steelers/Pirates/Penguins cult and all of my husband's family adheres to this bizarre religion. I've lived in other major sports cities and I've never experienced this level of mania. It's EVERYONE here. They actually got offended when I said I didn't really care about sports aside from the occasional soccer match and that no, I would not be becoming a Steelers fan.

My husband informed everyone that sports attire for baby was not acceptable and they got super upset. "But she lives here, she has to! It's part of the city's culture!" We looked at each other and were like ya, that's the problem. Our child isn't a propaganda billboard for corrupt organizations that support crap beer!
  • @JaqiDec04 it's like flower crowns...on a 4 year old...how sweet! On a grown woman at a music festival...STAHP!!! I DO like jelly sandals though hahahaha don't judge me!

Oh for sure! And those giant floral headbands. Goofy on babies and adults.

I'm totally judging your jelly saddle love. Lol

    DYING!

DH family moved from PGH to our town when he was 4 years old, so now they are obsessive transplants. I've adopted the Steelers fan-ship, mostly because I like the parties on Sundays :) I totally feel you pain on the religious cult feel of the whole thing!!

Here are some more UO from me:
    • Amber teething necklaces are pseudoscience
    • 99% of gliders are fugly as shit

And if you still want to be my friend after those opinions, this one will probably make you hate me:

    • I think peanut butter has no business in baked goods, especially those involving chocolate.  Unless your goal is to ruin all Christmas cookies for me.
