I have horrible hemorrhoids and at least two if not three hernias (one of which is hiatal...pushes part of my stomach into my chest at times). I'm so scared my guts are going to end up in places they don't belong...or that I'm going to end up needing abdominal surgery...if I strain to push baby out. I've had a couple of abdominal surgeries in the past and while they did really suck, at least I pretty much know what to expect.
I've never had a c section...and I'm wondering if they're pain levels and recovery times are somewhat like every other abdominal surgery? If so, would it make me a terrible person to ASK for one? I've done the vaginal birth thing twice...it's not like I'd be missing out on the whole experience ;-)
Any helpful info/advice would be greatly appreciated :-)
Re: Would I be awful if I end up WANTING a c section?
Sorry if that's a Stupid question.
Have you talked to your doctor about this.. Seems if that was a risk, he/she wouldn't even do the vaginal birth.
I had a level 4 tear with my first and my second doctor wouldn't let me deliver thru it because of the risk...
I personally have never had surgery aside from one c section, but my mum recently had her gal bladder removed and a lot of it reminded me of a c section. She had to hold a pillow tight when she coughed (like c section) and walking was hard.. They did 3 one inch incisions so it's a bit different. If you had one 1 inch incision during abdominal surgery, it may be a little bit different because they make 6 inch ones down at your pelvis and you do feel like your falling apart. But seems to me that when you cut muscle it's going to be the same pain and same type of recovery as a c section... Hm. Go ahead and talk to your doctor about it. And don't feel guilty. I don't blame you one bit!
So I tore thru my perineum, and my sphincter. I had 37 stitches (inside and out.. All together, not 37 in and 37 out)
And not a stupid question. I had never heard of it before either.
Bring it up with your doctor and come up with a plan together. You'll feel so much better.
