Re: still negative hpt at 8 weeks

  • I believe I have read on here some one didn't test positive until 14 weeks...have you seen your doctor for a blood test?

I'm a little confused. Are you saying you haven't had a period in 8 weeks? Or did you have a positive blood test and a negative hpt at 8 weeks? Why do you think a negative hpt would indicate being pregnant with twins?

  • Thank you mamabeagle I go for my first appt monday just wanted to hear some POSITIVE stories
  • Again simple question
  • I'm sorry, OP, but why do you think you're pregnant (possibly with twins) if you haven't had a positive HPT? I'm not being snarky, I'm genuinely curious.
  • Also, if you were actually having twins your HCG would be tripling which would most definitely turn a test positive test.

  • I really don't understand why anyone would comment and make commands on how another person asked a question I just wanted to know if anyone had success stories I dont know why you guys are so pissy if u dont have a positive story to share just keep it moving its very simple actually I'm not here for the back and forth non sense only looking for POSITIVE ppl not someone that's miserable and wants company I'm good.

Did you even read the responses? I doubt it. You can't just demand that people tell you exactly what you want to hear, which seems to be your definition of the word positive. The internet doesn't work that way. You receive legitimate and informed responses to your post. The proper response is "thank you", not a tantrum.

Edited to add: You said you didn't understand how people make commands on how another person asks a question. So let me throw that right back at you: I don't understand how you make commands about the exact type of responses you want. That's neither fair, logical, or helpful.
  • Ok thank u all for being so helpful.
  • I see ppl on here have no life smh so sad but thanks for all the positive response u guys r awesome have a great day
  • Hi Ladyliciali,

Of course getting a blood test and getting your doctors advice is most important. That being said the only way to know if you are having twins is via UltraSound/Sonogram. I will tell you this and it is actually more common than one would think. 3 of my friends DID NOT get their BFP's until after 8 weeks along (and they were testing since their missed period, FMU) they all ended up having successful pregnancies and healthy babies. None were twins though. I hope that helps. Good Luck on your TTC journey!

I think it's rude to attempt to insult people who tried to help you. Unfortunately for you, no one here considers blowing smoke up someone's butt a "positive" thing to do. Hopefully you'll grow up.

Yes, we don't have lives.  YOU GOT US GOOD. smh so sad.

  • Thanks a lot chelsieS2014 it was helpful and comforting I appreciate it
  • I completely agree that she needs to speak with a doctor, which is why I said that in my post. And 2/3 of the friends were TTC and using OPK's & temping. The reason they were certain they were pregnant was because their Temps stayed elevated and they had early symptoms, that being said they still did not receive a positive HPT until after 8 weeks. I don't really think you ladies are being constructive with the comments, tell her to go to the doctor and be done with it unless you have experienced something similar. It could be that her body is so stressed from TTC that her cycle is all out of whack, our bodies are so unique that we are so unpredictable. All she did was ask advice and for similar experiences. She needs to know that it can happen, just like it can happen that she ovulated late, or that stress is not allowing her to ovulate at all!
I am not here to argue with you about her specific case, all I did was share my experiences (which is what she originally asked for).

Pardon me, but none of us understood what she was asking.  No need to reprimand all of the posters.  She could have just reworded and explained her question and I'm sure she would have gotten some useful responses.

  • People who get late positives normally just had longer cycles and ovulated later in their cycle. OP, if you are not pregnant you should start temping. It gives you a wealth of knowledge about you cycle.

Just an FYI...I had a strong positive at 7DP5DT with a FRER. I tested before betas because I was so nauseous. It was confirmed via my 6 week 3 day ultrasound that I am having twins. If you truly are 8 weeks pregnant then you would be able to turn a test. I'm sorry, but I would see your gynecologist to try and figure out what's going on.
  • Exactly that's why I stopped responding to these doctors I was asking had any one experienced this not a diagnosis lmao u dont know anyone or yourself then fine keep it moving why sit and go back and forth about something you personally have no knowledge of why not just keep it moving. Its simple but you guys really blew this waaaaayyyy out of proportion I want to just delete the whole thing smh kinda feel stalked lmao smh omggggg

This thread is a train wreck. I'm calling shenanigans on the whole thing.

Edited. Hooked on Phonics doesn't always work for me.

  • Did she get banned for this thread? I mean she made no damn sense, but I didn't think anything was particularly ban worthy?
  • Well this was an interesting stop on the crazy train. I POSITIVELY still have no idea what OP was trying to ask.

To the random WK, we can't tell her to go to the doctor if we don't understand what she was asking. I'm not going to recommend a woman waste her time and her doctor's if I don't know what is wrong with her.

So I'm going to attempt to be positive but I won't lie to you. Here's the deal with how this all works.

So yes, a pregnancy test CAN turn a false negative after HCG has built up in the blood (That's the pregnancy hormone that, amongst other lovely things you'll find out when the time comes ;) triggers the test to show two lines). There is no such thing as a false positive. A positive is a positive. But a test can turn a false negative. It's an indication of a faulty test or poor dye quantity. It's rare but it happens.

Because it's so rare, it would only happen once, if ever. If this happened all the time, people wouldn't buy those tests anymore and the company would have gone out of business for making a bad product :)

So if you're getting multiple negative tests, I'm afraid you're not pregnant. But if you're still not convinced, I'm going to urge you to go to your doctor who can do a test for you that is way more accurate than a regular home pregnancy test.

This is an honest answer. I don't want to lie to you because it does you absolutely no good. But if you google this question, it will give you lots of information that you can look at that should help you going forward.

Also, I think you're misinformed about the twin thing. If anything, the presence of twins would be even MORE likely to trigger a positive result.

When you're pregnant, a hormone called HCG begins pumping through your body. It is needed to sustain your baby and all the things that support your baby's development (like increased blood supply).

The more babies you have in there, the more HCG is getting produced, which makes sense, right? If one baby makes some, more babies make more.

So you see how twins are more likely to produce a positive result, not a negative.

You also need to be aware (for your own health) that your period can stop for many reasons other than pregnancy. Stress, physical or emotional trauma, sudden changes in weight and some more serious illnesses can all cause a period to stop. It's also normal to skip periods sometimes too, for seemingly no reason!

But if you are no longer getting periods but find out you're not pregnant, you MUST MUST MUST get that checked out to rule out serious illnesses like cancer.
