3rd Trimester

34 weeks- could my little man be trying to make an early appearance?

I just hit 34 weeks on Monday and started having a lot pressure in my crotch and butt (feeling like everything is going to fall out), mild cramping, with this said its making it very difficult to walk or anything. Today (Tuesday 5/26) i started feeling nauseated and almost vomited and have no appetite, very fatigued, etc etc. I have not (as far as i know) lost the mucus plug or started having contractions. However i went into preterm labor at 30 weeks and they stopped my contractions.

Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them and when i can "possibly" expect a baby? Someone else i spoke to about this said they give it 2 weeks.

  • Even if someone had the EXACT same symptoms (which is very common for third tri), it doesn't mean that you would go into labor the same time she would. Whomever told you to expect baby in two weeks is guessing. Sorry they freaked you out/gave you false "hope," but no one including your OB can tell you exactly when you'll go into active labor (with the obvious exceptions of induction and scheduled c-section). Accept that.

Contractions can feel like menstrual cramps, at least the early ones. They did when my little girl tried to come early. Call your doctor. They'll probably want to monitor you or send you somewhere for monitoring, and if he is coming too early, seeking medical attention early is key!

  • There's nothing wrong with wondering if you're baby is going to come early. I am currently 33 w 5 d and I feel like he is going to be born within about 3 weeks. My doctor has told me that I definitely won't be making it to my due date. (July 14th) this is due to the fact that he is very low and I have lost some of my mucus plug. But the fact that someone told you 2 weeks doesn't mean they were having any malicious intent. It's just one pregnancy experience to another :) good luck with your little one!
  • I have to agree that everything you've mentioned does not equate labor. Also, just because you've lost your mucous plug doesn't mean much. They can/do regenerate. There really is no way we can tell you that your baby is coming early.
