I'm tired of hearing about genetic testing and if YOU should do it or not. Listen.... We have no idea who you are and what you have been through. How will we know if you should get it done or not? Either do it or don't and move it along
I'm just going to say this to get it out bc after the past day, I need to.
It bugs me when people come on here and are like "why the need for drama" or negativity or disagreements... It's going to happen. It's TB, and far more tame than it used to be. You are on a board of 1,000 women with vast opinions. Just bc someone disagrees doesn't = negativity. TB was not made for puppies, rainbows and support. We are real women and all think differently. It's going to happen. Get over it.
I know people don't agree w everything I say. And I'm ok with it. I've said this before, if you stick around you have an opportunity to build a foundation and community of women in various situations and beliefs going through a similar thing. Which is so cool and has in my experience, created some lasting friendships. Right @redfallon ?

And every.single.board. goes through this. In a couple of months, once most of the drive bys have fizzled out, the real community will form and it will be beautiful
My UO is that I don't want to show.....clothes that don't fit suck. I don't want to buy maternity clothes that I won't wear again. I didn't show until 22 weeks with my first and I loved it and I'm not showing yet at 9w2d, not even close. Weeeeeeeeee!

What's funny is then when all the babies start being born, you've got people who come in to do their birth announcement who've never posted anything ever and then they never post anything else, either.

"Hi!!! I had a baby! Bye!!!"
Sometimes I just want to comment on some of these "Hi? Nice to meet you. No that's normal"
I can't STAND all the popular diet fads out there...especially It Works wraps things and Shakeology. No offense to those that sell or buy the products but I hate seeing women (or men) getting brainwashed into thinking this is actually good for you or is going to make you lose an incredible amount of weight. It might but is this something that you plan to continue for the rest of your life?? Eat real foods and educate yourself on clean/healthy eating and make it a lifestyle change. I do it the old fashion way....the BEST way...eat healthy and exercise. Stop buying into these EXPENSIVE temporary fixes. I get bombarded with beach body coaches on facebook daily and because I'm a personal trainer they think I NEED to become one and sell their products. NOPE...sorry!
My hubby hates pregnancy progression pictures. He says it's the most hipster thing to do and its just ugly to see. WTH. Haha. I guess my UO is that my husband is so anti progression pics!!! And I'll be happily taking them every week. Not sure if this is a UO..maybe just a rant.
I hate that movie. My SO's family loves it and made me watch it at least 5 times this past Christmas. The entire time all I can think about is what a dysfunctional family they are.

My husband also hates it. My family watches it every year and he falls asleep on the floor.
My UO is I love maternity clothes; after my first I struggled with being happy to lose the weight and being sad about not getting to wear my comfy shorts anymore. I refuse to wear sweats/yoga attire out of the house, so that wasn't a reasonable substitute.
First pregnancy, I wanted to plan a gender real and now I think they're pointless. Also diaper parties. I just hate doing things that everyone else is doing and it's overdone. I've seen some where the parents-to-be are spending more money on the party than they are getting back. I'm going to save myself the trouble in cleaning, planning and spending money on food and snacks and just slowly buying my diapers. So many parties and crap for your friends and family before you even get to a baby shower. Pregnancies have become a production of events and over sharing. No thanks.

Why are there two of these now? Was the other one getting too big?
Whatever. I'll post here for good measure as I posted in the other one before.
UO1: I do not understand how people have more than 1-2 best friends. This is highly personal, perhaps, but I am not for everyone. I don't see how it is truly possible.
UO: My tapered TWA (I wonder who even knows what that is) is both a cultural and regional hair preference and some may dislike it. That is my disclaimer for: I cannot stand those short Midwestern (is this a Midwest thing?), highlighted and flipped up hairstyles. I. Just. Can't. I think they age women.
So I live in Vermont, we get like mayyyybe 3-5 months of actual good weather here. I cannot stand how all of the people here complained about the cold all winter and now that's it is finally summer weather people are complaining about the heat! It's not even July! ......Just my UO & rant all in one

Some people keep commenting on last week's UO thread. There has been several people trying to re-direct them here.
@313Meg Sidebar: what other topics are weekly fixtures? I noticed HDBD, and PGAL (which I know doesn't apply to all). I have been here for 6 weeks and quite frankly can't tell. Is this new? Where is the manual!? Can weekly posts say weekly? Life is so hard when there is no suggestion box.
@313Meg before my UO, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you calling me your "friend," you make me laugh with your quotation marks! Love you girl!
@redfallon the Christmas Story posts have me dying!! So random (and totally true) but then here comes @TheThornBird and @herewegrow with tales of such suffering I just burst out laughing...
My UO is I can't stand all the "graduation" ceremony's that kids are getting these days. When I got promoted from Kindergarten to 1st grade we did NOT have a graduation ceremony. That started a few years after I went through kindergarten... and now I hear my nieces and nephews taking about, "I graduated 3rd grade." Ummm that's not even the end of elementary school... I just don't get it. You don't graduate at the end of every year for crying out loud, you get promoted. Period.

I didn't want someone saying "YOU DON'T KNOW HER".... you are my friend without quotations in my book. But I wasn't ready to argue with someone on something stupid like that.

I think each board creates their own. From what was on my old BMB it was... Monday- Monday Bitchfest Wed- HDBD (hump day bump day) Thurs- UO Fri- FFFC (flame free Friday confessions)
But I saw another mama suggest others too. I think we make some staples, as we have with UO.

My daughter promoted from elementary to middle school last year, and they had a "promotion" ceremony. I was actually glad they called it that instead of graduation... but so many other parents complained about it! I guess they just changed the name (as well as a few other things to tone down the ceremonies) a few years ago in my area. Now the kids don't "graduate" until they finish high school.
@313Meg what happens on Tuesdays? (No mean girl references )
I want a Tune Tuesday. That sounds cheesy, but no one talks about music here! That is a drag. We need to liven up the place.
I don't remember if we had a Tuesday thing??? Redfallon would remember I'm sure. That sounds fun!

Hey Kylene! Missed you.
Missed you too, lady! I didn't even realize how MIA I've been!
@erikaalzet From your picture, your hair looks gorgeous. I've always thought afros on women are absolutely beautiful and I would have one if I could. Unfortunately I have stick-straight, fine, limp blonde hair. What I would do for curls......
And if you think midwestern hairstyles are awful, try West Virginia. My family is from there and we went to visit last weekend. Mullets, mullets, everywhere. Men *and* women. And the worst bangs- really short bangs that start halfway back on their head.

Thanks, @TheThornBird. If we could go old school school poster board project and just do a hodge podge of hairstyles that must die, (mullets, pixie bangs, whatever the Midwestern thing is called, and the colorful weave installments from the dirty south) I'd have so much fun.
