If it's a boy I think my sister is thinking woodland creatures, neutral colors, etc. If it's a girl I'm not so sure, but I don't want anything over the top and girly. I had that with DD and she's a super diva now )
Not really. DH wants to wait until Thanksgiving when all family is in town. I'm cool with that lol. I know I don't want a big to do for the shower give me some Mexican food and I'm good My work wants to throw one for me in the fall and I'd really like a book party, because they have amazing children's books!!! (I'm a teacher so that's right up my alley) My little pooh bear is going to spend lots of time at school lol
My sister in law asked me the other day what my them was..I didn't know I was supposed to know it at 9 weeks!!! Lol. So I've been pinteresting (is that a word?) my life away trying to figure it out. @bbrady1031 I love that idea!
I think it's best to let the person/people throwing the shower decide on the theme. Hopefully they know you well enough to know what you like. Also, they're the ones throwing the party, so I don't think it's appropriate to tell them what they have to do. Also, we have enough to worry about during pregnancy.
My husband and I have this ridiculous thing where we are the "bee family" (See ticker) not sure why - but its always been like that - king bee, queen bee, kitty bee (now baby bee) so my mom wants to do a little bee theme Its so cute, so excited
My sister is throwing the shower and really wants to do a Dr. Seuss theme, which I think is cute. But I really want a Beatles themed shower. Either way I'm sure it'll be great (she did an amazing job on my bridal shower) so if she goes with Dr. Seuss well just have to do a Beatles themed birthday party at some point.
Pretty sure I'm not going to have a say in this nor do I want to. My mom/sis will most likely throw my shower and take care of all the details. I'll just be showing up and that's the way I want it. They love this sort of thing so I'm just going to let them do their thing!
Not sure what I'm thinking for a theme yet, depends on the sexes, but I know I will definitely be heavily involved on the planning. It's a day about me and my babies and we've been waiting years for this so I'm not going to miss out on anything. Plus, out of my family and friends, I'm the one who loved organizing, planning and creating the most, so it'll be a lot of fun!

Now I hate to say it but I hate to relinquish control over parties because I enjoy planning them. I'm going to try my hardest though to let my sister and mom plan it. My sister did say for me to pin things and she will look at them to see what I like and I only requested throwing out theme options. I'm hoping that will be enough for me to feel at ease.
I am also a control freak only because I love to plan things like this. Should have been a wedding/event planner. I don't care for a theme per say but I will try my best to constantly email my mom and sisters for "ideas" of what I would like.

My best friend is owning that. My only rules were nothing trite, hipster, or cutesy. Ugh... If anyone could pull off such an ambiguous "not" list, it's her.

I admire you being able to give up control! You're bigger than I am. I do LOVE that you will create a type of wishlist via Pinterest, I honestly think that's a great compromise.

Halloween is my theme! I love holidays and usually have a big Halloween party where everyone dresses up. My sister and mom are on board.
My best friend and sisters will be planning. I was told it will not be a secret as they are too excited. We were going to plan a big party for Halloween so she will be combining the two. Now I get to wear a really cute pregnancy costume.

That's cute..,We do something similar! DH is bear, my pup is doodlebear, and the baby we're referring to as the little bear. Corny, but it's us. Lol.
Sort of unrelated, but someone I know requested that all the guests bring a book for the baby with something written inside of it instead of cards to the shower; I thought it was a really cute idea, and a great way to start building babies book collection. I'm thinking of stealing this idea, as I just love it.

My cousin did this. It worked out perfectly. Getting kids excited about reading starts with bedtime stories.
I thought it was neat with my first. My aunt threw us a shower and planned the theme off of our nursery theme. That meant we ended up with a jungle safari. She had stuffed animals for some of the decorations we took home and LO latched on to a giraffe from it and now loves them.
With my first I let some family pick everything out. I just wanted ballet theme. They did ballet slipper cookies, tutu diaper cakes, the cake had a little piggy bank with a tutu on it, everything turned out great I was very surprised. This one, if it's a girl then I want to do candy land theme and if a boy, cowboy/John deere.
My mom and I have talked about it and we decided to throw a birthday party/baby shower. I want it to be more of a party than a traditional baby shower, and my birthday is at the end of November. I still want to do some of the fun baby shower games and be able to have fun with my girls but I also want my boyfriend to have fun and party with his friends. He deserves it! So really the theme would be my birthday
I'm getting 3, I know I'm spoiled. My SO is having the godfathers girlfriend and his mom throw me one, as its my first he feels it's important I have one from his family (yup not sure how I feel about it but I'll deal) my coworkers always have a luncheon for pregnant mommy's, daddy's to be, and first time grandparents (yes they toss showers for the grandparents too). It's a family owned place even if it a bigger company and Frankie our marketing director is party planner big time so I'm not messing with her's. As most of my friends and family in NY we having a welcome baby shower in NY when I come up so my sick grandma (cancer) can meet the baby. So that one I have SOME CONTROL over, but I told my mom as long as I get Pizza while I'm up there, the rest is up to her. SO is like umm where are we going to put all this stuff especially the stuff from NY. I'm thinking about telling my mom to mention we have to drive back to GA in my little civic, so gifts can be mailed here before hand, or smaller stuff, and gift cards are very good options. I've had my sister have people write on the card what to get from the registry with a gift card when she had her son and came up to NY
The book thing was such a good idea whoever thought of it first. I want to do it but so many of my family and friends have done it and they have gotten a lot of the same books and they're all written on inside, they can't return it. I have slowly been buying books that I loved from when I was a child so I might be set when the baby comes. Maybe I'll think of something else.

@rain0831boww maybe make a "book registry" have whoever is setting up the baby shower maybe create a FB group or an Amazon wish list, (they can have people email/call if they got a book from somewhere else) might make it so that no one gets the same book, or cuts down on the same books, so everyone knows which childhood favorites to buy too
I won't be deciding the theme for my own showers, but if anyone wants ideas for a gender neutral shower, here are the decorations I did for my friend's shower on Sunday. The "theme" was just yellow and gray. Haha.
