10 pounds and up club!!!!!

Okay, so I for one am flabbergasted at how little most of the ladies on here say they have gained at this point. Worrying about gaining 1 pound or 5???? I wanna hear from the ladies who have actually gained atleast 10 pounds by now. I was at 12 pounds 2 weeks ago. My doc gave me a 15 pound ridiculous limit. She hasn't said anything to me yet and I find 15 pounds overweight or healthy weight to be unrealistic. My goal is to stay under 25. I'm just sort of getting discouraged with all the posts of gals barely gaining! So, let's hear it for the chubbs out there!

Re: 10 pounds and up club!!!!!

  • Went to doc today and have gained exactly 10 pounds at 23w3d! Doc said gaining 25 lbs is ideal, so that's what I'm shooting for :-)

I like to count my regular weight as my start weight, which means I gained 11lbs at 23 weeks.  Since my first doc visit was shortly after Christmas (and my brother gifted my the yummiest brownie, cookie, peanut butter cup, concoction), I am only up 8 lbs, but I am counting that Christmas weight in what needs to come off after.  My doctor does not talk weight at all.  I love my doc.
  • Omg, chic fil la has been my friday lunch after the dog park since day 1 lol. So oooo good!
  • 15-17 so far at 25 weeks. I gained like 40 with DD 1 and it all came off so although I had hoped to gain less, oh well. She was 9 lbs 10.5 oz so a lot was gone when I left the hospital.

Guilty lol. The weight has really been packing on since starting the second trimester. Good thing I have a pretty complete gym in my house and have a supportive DF that's into fitness and can help a mama loose these pregnancy pounds once baby is here! Lol. I'm enjoying my pregnancy though.. Eating cravings in moderation and drinking a crap ton of water. If baby is healthy I'm happy :) .

16 pounder here at 23 weeks. Glad you posted this. I felt kinda bad about myself when I read not a lot of women gained that much. But, we are all different!

    Edited because not all posted
  • I've gained 15. I'm hoping that 25 is my limit but probably won't be. I gained something cray like 70 lbs last time.... It was awful. My BP was up and my joints and body ached... I am a little jealous of the ladies in the under 10 range although I understand people's concern when they post about losing weight. I just can't help but be envious.

Love that you posted this. Everyone I talk to in real life gained at least 25 pounds in their pregnancies...many gained quite a bit more than that. So when I talk to them I feel like I'm doing great! Then I read some of these posts and feel like I'm leaning towards the chub side of life. ;) 23 weeks and up 12 pounds. Hoping that slows down once I start working out again! Finally got some nice weather so that should help.

I'm having the worst time with this. I start crying at my appointment yesterday. My doctor says that he's telling my nurses that I'm to weigh with my back to the scale. :( lol I guess.
I was really trying to lose weight when I found out I was pregnant. So I started trying to eat more to gain and be healthier, the weight just piled on. It's been so freaking hard.
I've never had a healthy eating habits. But I have been trying really hard, it's just hard seeing the number go up higher and higher. :(
  • I'm already so much happier lol! I knew there would be gals who had actually gained. I totally hear you on the girls who say they have some how lost weigh! That's just crazy to me! I'm trying to work out and eat more greens, as veggies still sound so unappealing to me. Thanks for the honesty ladies and for posting that this is normal as well!!!

12 for me and I'm happy about that
  • @str13 gurrl, I haven't cried at all and I'm so sorry you get so sad I tooo was on this amazing program. I had lost 9 pounds in 2 weeks and felt great when suddenly I woke up one morn w sore boobs and just knew! So I feel you! So technically I could say that I've only gained 3! Haha
  • 15 lbs here for me at 23 weeks!
  • At my 22w2d appointment on Monday I was up 15 pounds. I couldn't be happier. Prepregnancy my weight always fluctuated between 93-97 pounds and no matter how hard I tried to gain weight I wasn't able to. I'm just praying I don't gain 80 pounds like my mom did when she was pregnant with each of my brothers.

@surprisepkg31 omg!! You're so right!! I didn't think of it like that!! Technically I've only gained 7lbs then!! :) thanks!
My mantra when I start to think all is lost and that I'll be pudgy forever is that I've lost the weight before and I can lose it again, but for now I must gain for baby!
  • Up 10 pounds at 23 weeks. I am already overweight but my dr hasn't said anything. In the beginning he said he wanted as little weight gain as possible. It doesn't help that because of so much back and hip pain I don't even go on walks.

Up 12 pounds at 23 weeks with twins. Nutritionist told me I could afford to gain a few pounds. Said twin weight gain is usually around 40.
  • @angelargrock I made this thread for gals who have gained. I think the smaller you started the more you're likely to gain but whatever! even if you weren't small! I just felt like only the small girls were shouting out there number and wanted to hear from the girls who have gained a lot more.
  • I've gained about 15 at 21 weeks.
  • Yeah I was surprised by how little everyone gained haha I'm up 12 or more at 22 weeks. I gained like 40+ with my first but he was 8lbs 12oz and my boobs go from A or B to a DD so that has something to do with it. I still can't wear an xs maternity pants cause they are loose in the front. *long torso problems*

I lost 13 but have VERY QUICKLY gained 10lbs back in the last few weeks so I'm getting scared lol one of my bridesmaids gained 80lbs with both of her pregnancies if that makes any of you ladies feel better about yourselves!
  • As i just finished a bedtime snickers bar lol..ive gained 15 at 24 weeks. Doctor said im normal. It has worried me though and i dont want to gain too much. I exercise daily and normally eat well ( besides the candy) i have a big belly now but am starting to see a little double chin and it has gotten me down. I had an unrealistic hope of gaining 20 pounds during my pregnancy. Im short too so i feel like i look bigger than most ppl would thag have gained the same.
  • I hadn't gained in the first tri, but now I'm up 12 lbs and will be 22wks tomorrow. I feel I'm on track and feeling good :-)
  • I'm up a total of 20 at 25 weeks. Was a little discouraged at my appointment this week but the doctor said it was right within the 'healthy' range. She said every woman is different. I'm also 5'9" and didn't gain anything the first 12 weeks. And I may taper off now and gain majority in the second tri. As long as you're getting plenty of excercise, drinking lots of water and eating well, it's just our body doing amazing things. Choosing to focus on how amazing my body is and not the pounds. If I feel good, that's all that matters. And I choose to not have a scale in my house ;)

    13 pound 24 weeks ahh
  • I lost 7 lbs in my first tri.. severe morning sickness... starting from my pre-pregnancy weight, I've gained 15 lbs. and seem to have slowed down.. I have a feeling I'll redact this by my next doctors appointment...haha!
  • I also lost ten lbs somewhere between week 8 and 12. My husband says the baby ate my ass. I am now 14 pounds up from my 12 week weight. I'm not sure if I should consider it 14 lbs or 4 but I'm going with 14 lol
  • Up 17 at 22 weeks--I never lost anything because I didn't have morning sickness and all I could stomach was bland, carbo-loaded food during the first trimester. I never stopped working out and in the second trimester I'm generally eating much healthier. I'm a pretty petite person to begin with so I feel like my body must need the weight for the baby, and the doctor has assured me when I've expressed concern about weight gain that I'm on track for a healthy gain, so I'm just going to keep being active and eating as healthy as I can (with some exceptions, of course!) and hope for the best!
  • Up 25 about at 24 weeks. I gained a lot right away but I was starving as opposed to having morning sickness. I was below my normal weight range when I got pregnant too. I'm assuming baby wants the carbs and needs the cushion! I'm not thrilled but I'm sure I will be able to handle it after baby is born. Hoping to gain about 40 total

I get up on the scale once or twice a week and always in the morning after my bathroom break. I'm up 11lb at week 23. It seems like I am gaining 1lb per week... But I will be visiting the my husband's parents over the weekend so it might be more then just a pound this week. Eep :-SS
  • Ftm and I'm up 16 lbs at 24 weeks. I'm trying not to worry and for the most part I feel okay with letting my body do what it needs to do but I gained four pounds in the two weeks between my most recent doctor visits and holy crap that was a little scary to realise. My doctor isn't mentioned weight at all until I bright it up at my most recent appointment, and even then she was very much meh don't go crazy with junk food, aim for another ten pounds and you're fine. Although it seems impossible to believe that at this rate of increase (I gained nothing in the first trip, it's all been in the second) I'll only gain ten pounds in the final trimester of baby growing >.>
