I've been in flip flops for 2 months! Lol. Got to love them!!
Thank God it's summer! My mom's feet were so swollen when she had me in NOVEMBER, but she still had to wear flip flops because she couldn't fit regular shoes! Gotta love pregnancy... Lol
Hmmm. If it's after every time then I would check in with your dr. Mine come after I do to much at one time and my dr said just sit down once it comes on and relax for a bit.
@mom3babies my doctor says the same thing! Any uncomfortable feelings I get, he recommends rest and water! If it doesn't resolve itself, than call him.
Sometimes when I bend over too much I get light headed. Not dangerous, but definitely a sign to sit down for a minute. I assume it's because of the extra blood volume.
Everyone has covered the question, so I'm just gonna say I was one of those stupidly over paranoid first time moms.. Silly me thought pregnancy was just about getting bigger. I didn't think it would hurt. Or that I would develope GERDS and cough blood.. (Okay wait.. I think that would worry anyone ftm or 19 kids and counting mom? If it never happened before) but I did worry about stupid things such as.... Sitting down to hard.. Or moving to much... Kinda like if you put a bouncy ball in a balloon and slowly shake it is how I pictured the baby. Didn't know a damn thing about it because I never asked before hand (wasn't a teen mom either. I was 21 when she was born.) now on my 3rd, I'm like okay maybe I shouldn't have moved that bed, but my water didn't break so alls well! Some people are overly protective. It don't make them bad people!
I was thinking about this post last night and realized...there are lots of things that are normally safe but aren't in pregnancy. For example, riding roller coasters, horseback riding, eating soft cheese, etc. I think it is pretty normal to wonder about basic things.

Actually roller coasters and riding horses are safe until you physically feel uncomfortable. I was riding/training horses until it hurt. Every OB and midwife in town said it was fine, and so did all the research I did. Soft cheeses are also safe if they have pasteurized milk, which about 80% of them do in the U.S.

I'm not really sure what being a teen mom has to do with anything. I was a teen mother. I was certainly no less educated on pregnancy than any other ftm. Honestly, it comes down to common sense. Obviously something like coughing up blood is a concern, pregnant or not. We are pregnant, not broken as stated before. Excessive bending is not good for anyone. If you bend properly and in moderation without feeling any pain, you should be fine. It's a good idea for ftms to invest in a pregnancy book.
I think they discourage riding roller coasters because of the potential for detaching the placenta from the uterine wall. And activities that you haven't been doing previously aren't recommended, like horse back riding or cross country skiing. I was just making the point that there are things that are discouraged when carrying a baby that would normally be considered no big deal. Another good example is working in the garden with no gloves or scooping kitty litter. Pregnancy isn't a period of time in your life where you are incapable of doing many things but pregnancy isn't just any other day. It's a fairly big deal. I tend to just listen to my mom (A CNM of 30 years) and my midwife. The interwebs can give so many mixed responses on things.

I wasn't saying anything bad about being a teen mom, only that people assume most adults are fully educated in pregnancy, whereas teens are not. I have plenty of common sense.. I still had no idea what to expect out of pregnancy!
I had this question at one point...I was bending all the time in the garden and I felt like I was squishing her head or something. It freaked me out a little so I did some research and decided it was probably fine for baby but not for me. I had to stop gardening anyway because of an irritable uterus but I definitely had the very same question!!
I asked my doc about something similar, because sometimes I do have to do some bending and lifting at work - it's not heavy by any means. But, a lot of my coworkers, both men and women with and without children of their own, get really....vocal (for lack of a better word) about it. They don't want me to lift, bend, walk too far or too much, etc. Since they all acted like I was crazy for doing anything physical, and I am a FTM,I thought maybe they knew something I didnt. So, I asked. Doc said as long as I am not in any pain, not over exerting myself, etc, it was fine. Just listen to your body. I've stayed active during my pregnancy, doing Zumba and walking.... cleaning house and doing laundry can also be a bit of a workout, too. I just know my limits, listen to my body when I might have overdone it and take breaks when I need to. You should be fine as long as you are being careful and not in any pain.
Re: BENDING OVER? IS IT SAFE?
Lol I would say that too if my mom had a hard pregnancy! @mommy1922
