Cold cuts are on the do not eat list for pregnant women. Although rare, the below can happen if you eat cold cuts while pregnant.
It is not safe for pregnant women to eat cold cuts because of bacteria such as Listeria monocytogenes which can cause a nasty kind of food poisoning known as listeriosis.
Listeriosis can quickly turn into a potentially deadly infection known as meningitis and cause serious blood infections. Meningitis can lead to paralysis, mental illness, disability and death because it affects the brain.
Listeria can also reach your baby through placenta, causing preterm labor, miscarriage or other damages to your baby so it is very important to follow the precautions provided below.

Most cases of listeria come from vegetables and fruits. Recently it was found in ice cream. Also very recently in organic spinach from the Amy's brand of frozen foods.
It's most common in third world countries. Really, you can eat the cold cuts.

A lot of OBs don't follow this though and tell you can still have it. It depends on your Dr., each one will have different guidelines. Mine told me it was fine if I got it from the deli counter and it was me preparing it. She told me not to order it anywhere though, and if I did to heat it up first. It depends on how easy-going your OB is and how you feel about it when you are pregnant.

I will miss:
I ate all the cold cuts I wanted. I just microwaved it or had it baked. My RE & OBGYN said deli meat was fine. Pretty much anything was fine except to much tuna and no shark (which I didn't eat anyways).

This is shallow but I miss my figure while pregnant. It didn't feel like I was me, I kinda felt whalish. Granted I love dd beyond all reason and would gladly do it again.
