hi ladies , what are the best stretch mark Creams/ oils to use during pregnancy ? Any tips on how to avoid stretch marks ? I heard belly butter from mamma mio is good.
Stretch marks are mostly genetic, no matter what you do to prevent them. The cocoa butter smell makes me queasy, I used the Mama Bee lemon scented oil every day after I showered to keep my skin hydrated and help with the itching.
During my first pregnancy I used Palmers cocao butter after I showered and bio oil at night. I didn't get many stretch marks, but not sure I can attribute it just to the cream and oil. I am still going to do the same routine this time around though. I would start applying it at the end of the first trimester since you will start growing by then.
It's in your genes unfortunately. Not gaining an excessive amount of weight can help and keeping your skin hydrated can help a bit too. I have them on my hips and boobs and am a size 3 so unfortunately for me I know what's coming....
I already have them on my thighs and love handles and this is my first baby. :-P I was told today to start moisturizing now. Hopefully I can at least help keep them from getting worse. I looked up recipes on Pinterest to make my own with coconut oil and Young Living essential oils.
Before pregnancy I always drank lots of water and moisturized my body well everyday. When I became pregnant my first time I continued this routine but instead of lotion everyday I used Johnson and Johnson Aleo Vera and Vitamin E oil after every shower before I dried off and then my regular lotion at night before bed, I will do this again this time! I never got any stretch marks. I don't know if I believe the whole it is "genetic" cause both my mom and sister have horrible stretch marks from their pregnancies Good luck!!

I have them on my hips and boobs from my puberty years, so I thought for sure I'd get them with my first pregnancy. I used Bio Oil starting around 8 weeks and I didn't get any stretch marks. Hopefully I'm that lucky this time! But like others said, it's pretty much genetic. Lotions and oils will help with the itching once you get bigger.
Cocoa butter and lotion are helpful later in pregnancy when your skin starts to itch from stretching quickly. They won't, however, prevent stretch marks. There's nothing you can do to prevent them if you're going to get them.

It all depends on genetics and how much you gain how fast. If your skin feels dry, you're better off just using a lotion that you like that doesn't have a ton of chemicals. I use avocado oil because it's all natural and doesn't have a strong scent.

For the record, genetics don't work that simply for multiple reasons that I won't get into (my degree is in biology). My mom and one of my sisters had horrible stretch marks and my other sister and I had none- doesn't mean genetics weren't involved. Also, as I said in my other post, how big you get does sometimes make a difference.
If you like your routine, by all means continue, but it's not worth stressing over.
