3rd Trimester

Um, 1st Hemorroid - please help!!!

Ugh this is so icky but I got my 1st roid and have no clue what to do. I happened to have Tucks pads on hand because thats what they gave me after my episiotomy when I had DD and I bought some in advance for this time. Not exactly the relief I need - any suggestions? And do they just go away on their own? I'm scared giving birth is only going to make it worse so I want it gone ASAP!!

  • ugh i feel your pain (literally). I had a bad one a few weeks ago and it was the first one i've gotten while being pregnant. I got some prep-H that was supposed to relieve the pain and itching and it did neither. I just drank more water and ate more salads. I'm not sure if it actually helped because right after that i started getting the craps on a regular basis and they haven't gone away. At least the hemorrhoid did though!

  • they won't go away immediately.  it can take a day or 2.  just keep up w/ your tucks, try not to sit too much, increase fiber, don't strain if you have a bm, try a sitz bath

  • I've had a fairly painful one this last week and have found that a combination of prep H and zinc cream (diaper cream) helps the most.

  • 1.  Take Colace when necessary

    2.  Use Prep-H to help with swelling and itching

    3.  Use the Tucks pads to help with the burning.

    4.  Don't strain to poop.

The 'roids will never fully go away.  You can keep them in check with fiber, exercise and not straining when you go.

  • I know just how you feel.. try this:1. Hot sitz bath or a hot compress 2. Prep-H make suppositories ( I know But they work not messy like the creams) 3. Get some baby wipes soak them in witch hazel (cheaper than tucks pads same ingredient) put them in the fridge if you want and tuck them on the hemorroid.4. hydrocortisone  If all ese fails call your doc and see if you can get a prescription. • the nurses in L&D told me theres nothing better than the suppositories. I am currently using tucks and prep-h but fully plan on asking Dr for a script when I go in tomorrow. These boogers hurt
  • Here's a trick I learn from the nurses at the hospital after DS was born: Tucks or generic witchhazel pads work best if you leave them on for a while.  It won't fall out I swear and you can use a pantyliner to protect your undies.
